TOPIC: I HEARD YOUR VOICE (I)
Read: Psalm 119:1-10
MEMORISE: See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven (Hebrew 12:25).
EXPOSITION
One sign of a living creature is ability to speak. At the same time, hearing is also a sign of sound man. A man who can speak to others must be able to listen to others. God shows to us that He is the living God by speaking to us. He spoke through conscience, nature, law, instructions, precepts, statues, ordinances and testimonies of His wonder working power to the people of old. He also spoke through the prophets and finally through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour (Ps. 19:1-6, Heb. 1:1-3). If we are His children indeed, we must be able to listen to Him and follow His Word.
Till date, He speaks to His own, especially His children, in order to guide and direct them. Hearing from God is a sign that we are in good relationship with Him. When was the last time you heard the voice of God? He speaks! Does He speak to you in your marriage, finance, spiritual life, business and life endeavours? May be you desire to hear Him. Good! You need to cultivate the habit of listening to Him.
God has many avenues through which He speaks to His people. He speaks to us in our hearts. This is a reason you must give your heart to Him totally. You need to submit to Him, if you want to hear from Him. The cleansing of your heart from all impurities is a great condition to hear from Him. If a slate is dirty, what you write on it will not be clear to read. But when a slate is clean, whatever is written on it will be clear enough to read. Our heart is like a slate that must be cleaned by the power of His Word. Begin to read the Word of God today and you will hear from Him. Today, when you hear Him, obey Him. Do you want to hear Him? Be quiet and attentive; pray and listen in your heart through His Spirit. If you have not received the Holy Spirit, pray to Him for the power of the Holy Spirit today. He will begin to speak to you.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, open my ears in order to hear from you.
2. Father, remove every blockade from my spiritual ears today so that I can hear from You.
3. Father, touch the hearts of people that are still in the camp of Satan and let them hear You for their salvation.
