*TOPIC: OIL FOR THE RACE (1)*
“But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps”. Matthew 25:4
*MESSAGE*
Oil is an indispensable commodity. We use it for cooking, as fuel, and even in making medicine. It is seen as a blessing from God (Deuteronomy 11:14) whose source is the Olive tree (symbolic of Jesus Christ). *Let us examine few significances of oil in the scriptures:*
Oil is used as fuel for lamps both in homes and in the tabernacle (Matthew 25:3; Exodus 25:6).
During the purification from leprosy, oil is used (Leviticus 14).
Kings, priests and prophets were anointed with oil (1 Samuel 10:1; 16:3; Leviticus 8:30; 1 Kings 19:16 and Isaiah 61:1).
Oil is used in the treatment of wounds (Isaiah 1:6; Luke 10:34; James 5:14).
Oil is used cosmetically as protection against the scorching sun or the dryness of the desert (Ruth 3:3; Ecclesiastes 9:8).
It is a commercial commodity necessary for ministry.
It is used for dedicating something or someone or a place to God.
The oil is symbolic of the Holy Spirit in the new testament. You need Him in order to serve God acceptably (1 Kings 5:11; Ezekiel 27:17). With this oil, you have blessing, prosperity and breakthrough (Isaiah 10:27). “How God anointed Jesus Christ of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and power that He went about doing good.” (Acts 10:38). Beloved! You need this oil to do exploits.
