*TOPIC: BETTER REPLACEMENT*
*Read: 1 Samuel 15:16-28*
*MEMORISE: _So Samuel said to him, "The LORD has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today, and has given it to a neighbor of yours, who is better than you”_ (1 Samuel 15:28).*
*EXPOSITION*
God never runs out of usable men and women. In His omnipotence and omniscience, He devices means to use any man or woman He wants. He has His own criteria, which may be at times, at variance with human’s. God undoubtedly chose Saul as Israel’s first King. The circumstances surrounding His choice, the rejection of Samuel’s children as presiding judges over Israel notwithstanding, it was God who sought, called, chose and anointed Saul as king. As at that time, God never saw a better person, despite that the would-be king felt a little low about his kingship.
However, Saul’s reign was barely two years when he began to misbehave. Though he was on the throne for forty years, God had already sought, prepared and ordained his replacement, little David, the last child and ‘forgotten’ shepherd boy *(1 Sam. 16:11)!* God always had His plan for you. He wants to elevate you to a height you never thoughts or dreamt of *(Jer.29:11).* He places you somewhere to accomplish His will and purpose. The candid advice is that you don’t fumble! Do not misbehave! Don’t think “without me,” something will not be done! Many things will not only be done, but better done, than you would have done!.
When it was clear that Moses would no longer be leading Israel to the promise land, his replacement was chosen *(Num. 20:11, 12; Deut. 1:37,38).* When Vashti the Queen fumbled, Esther replaced her *(Est. 2:17).* No coach is deemed good, if he lacks replacements for his squad! Anything can happen! See where you are now as a privilege; justify God’s choice of you, by doing what is right. May you never be replaced in your life time in Jesus’ name.
*PRAYER POINTS*
*1.* Lord, please help me never to misappropriate Your grace upon our life.
*2.* Oh Lord, remove the spirit of pride and inordinate passion that can make me lose my place in You.
*3.* Father, quickly replace as many erring ministers of the Gospel who are not ready to change and dance to Your will.
*EXTRA READING FOR TODAY:* Deuteronomy 5:3 – 7:8; Mark 16:10 – 16:20; Luke 1:1 – 1:11
