Some People Made Billions From EndSARS Protest - Sowore
Some people made billions from #EndSARS negotiations -Sowore
Activist, Omoyele Sowore, says some individuals have made billions of naira from the negotiations to put an end to the nationwide protests.
Sowore, who is the Publisher of Sahara Reporters, said this in a tweet on Wednesday while reacting to reports that business leaders and some social media influencers had entered into negotiations.
He tweeted,
Quote:I will not be part of any negotiations regarding #ENDSARS, many have entered into these negotiations and come out of the other side becoming billionaires, to them it is a game! The only negotiation I will ever engage in is that of the surrender of our oppressors! #RevolutionNow.

Activist, Aisha Yesufu, had on Tuesday admitted that some business leaders, including the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, held a Zoom meeting with some youth influencers, asking them to put an end to the protests.
She, however, said she told the CBN governor to ask the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to meet the demands of the protesters instead.
Reports had it that media entrepreneur, Debola Williams, prevailed on the youth leaders to end the protests, an allegation he denied.
However, on Wednesday, the Convener of the #EndSARS movement, Segun Awosanya aka Segalink, complained that the protests had been hijacked.
Thousands of youths across the country have in the last one week been protesting against the harassment and extrajudicial killings perpetrated mainly by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the police.
The police authorities have since disbanded the unit and renamed it Special Weapons and Tactics unit.
However, the protests have continued with many demanding for more reforms.

#EndPoliceBrutality: Falz Writes Buhari, Demands Reconstitution Of NHRC Board
Popular Nigerian rapper, Falz has written a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari to demand the reconstitution of the National Human Rights Commissions (NHRC) board.
This comes amid the ongoing protests across the country by youths demanding an end to police brutality.
Taking to his Instagram and Twitter accounts to share the letter, the Law graduate and son of popular Human Rights Activist, Femi Falana, who has been at the forefront of the protest asked Buhari to treat the letter as urgent.
Quote:“ @muhammadubuhari Please treat as urgent!,” he wrote.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CGW-TRLB74M/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
The letter titled REQUEST FOR RECONSTITUTION OF THE GOVERNING COUNCIL OF THE NATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION FOR THE DISCHARGE OF ITS FUNCTIONS WITH RESPECT TO CASES OF HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS IN NIGERIA read;
“I hereby write to Your Excellency as regards the above topic.
It has been brought to my knowledge via a statement by your Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adeshina, that the Federal Government has accepted the 5-point request of the ENDSARS protests presented by well-meaning Nigerian youths.
"This statement went on to state that there would be an independent investigation Panel to look into the violations of Human Rights by the defunct SARS and other segments of the Nigeria Police.
Quoting Mr Adeshina's statement : "The Forum agrees to the setting up of this independent panel by the National Human Rights Commission within the next one week"
It is pertinent to note that Section 5 the National Human Rights Commission (Amendment) Act 2010 empowers the National Human Rights Commission itself to receive complaints and investigate all alleged cases of human rights violations in Nigeria and make appropriate recommendations to the President.
The detailed and concise provisions of this Section adequately empower the Human Rights Commission to look into these cases by itself. The Commission need not set up another panel for the exercise of its functions.
More importantly, the National Human Rights Commission ought to have a Governing Council under Section 2 of the National Human Rights Commission (Amendment) Act consisting of the following people:
(a) a chairman who shall be a retired Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria or the Court of Appeal or a retired judge of the High Court of a State;
(b) a representative each of the following Federal Ministries-
(i) Justice; (ii) Foreign Affairs; (iii) Internal Affairs;
© three representatives of registered human rights organisations in Nigeria;
(d) two legal practitioners who shall not have less than ten years post qualification experience;
(e) three representatives of the media, at least, two of whom shall be from the private sector;
(f) three other persons to represent a variety of interests; and
(g) the executive secretary of the Commission.
As it stands now, the National Human Rights Commission has remained without the Governing Council since 2015 and still remains without it. The unfortunate circumstance has led to the aggravation of human rights abuse.
According to Section 7(3) of the National Human Rights Commission Act, the Executive Secretary of the Commission does not have the power to act without a Governing Council.
In the light of the foregoing, I hereby call on Your Excellency to immediately reconstitute the Governing Council of the National Human Rights Commission and to do so publicly as well as transparently in order to restore the confidence of young Nigerians in your proposed police reform process.
Failure to do this would force young Nigerians to believe that the continuous refusal to re-constitute the Governing Council of the National Human Rights Commission is a deliberate attempt to mislead us into thinking genuine efforts are being made at reforming the Nigeria Police, when in truth the opposite is the case.
“I am confident that Your Excellency will grant my humble request in order to guarantee the protection of the fundamental human rights of all Nigerians.
Yours faithfully,
“Folarin "Falz" Falana”.

"It's a lie" Reno Omokri tackles Sowore's claim people are making billions from end SARS protest
Reno Omokri has accused Omoyele Sowore of lying after the latter stated that some end SARS activists have been taking bribes and benefiting off the protests.
"I will not be part of any negotiation regarding end SARS. Many have entered into these negotiations and come out on the other side becoming billionaires. To them, it is a game," Omoyele Sowore had said.
However, Reno Omokri said Sowore is ''lying about that and that the government is working through people like Sowore to discredit end SARS movement.''
He added that he has done his investigation and found out there's no truth to Yele Sowore's allegations.
In a video shared to Instagram, Reno said: "Omoyele Sowore is just pained that Revolution Now flopped and End SARS protest is a major international success.
"He's got a big ego and would like to lead the movement but because he was denied that opportunity now he's making these spurious allegations.
"I've investigated it - and not just me, I don't want to mention names - major people have investigated this, they found out that it's completely untrue."
He added: "Omoyele Sowore is a common blackmailer, and I'm sure a lot of you know this part."
Reno continued: "Omoyele Sowore is just like Festus Keyamo. He was hoping to be made a Minister by Muhammadu Buhari and so when Muhammadu Buhari came on board and did not make him a Minister, it was after he came out with his ministerial list that Omoyele started to fight him.
"He has a personal quarrel with Muhammadu Buhari, face your personal quarrel but don't jeopardize the movement, don't jeopardize the emancipation of Nigeria from the oppressors.
There is no truth to that allegation. End SARS is a spontaneous people mass movement; there is no leader. And Omoyele Sowore, if you are sure of your allegations, name names."
