Paul Okoye 'Rudeboy' Joins #EndSARS Protest In Lagos (Photo)
Pop artistes Rudeboy on Thursday joined the protest in Lagos against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) themed #EndSARS, Igbere TV reports.

Big Brother Naija star, Natasha Akide known simply as “Tacha” was part of the league of celebrities and Nigerian youths who trooped the streets of Lagos earlier today to protest against the Nigerian Police Force division, SARS.
IgbereTV reports that Tacha, was among celebrities like Tiwa Savage, Toke Makinwa, Rudeboy and others who lent out their voices against the infamous Special Anti-Robbery Squad who have been known for the innocent killings, extortion and harassment of innocent civilians.
In a video, Tacha is seen talking on the #ENDSARS campaign as she supports the motion to end the infamous unit. She’s heard saying should the NPF not take any action following the peaceful protest of today, they’ll be back on Tuesday with full force.

Quote:Policeman Killed In Delta As #EndSARS Protest Turns Violent In Ughelli
Tension on Thursday enveloped the Otovwodo axis of Ughelli, headquarters of Ughelli North local government area of Delta State as a policeman was killed following the protest that rocked the town in the wake of the #ENDSARS Protest.
The incident also led to the destruction of several cars as commuters along the East-West road axis of Otovwodo junction scampered for safety following the series of gunshots that ensued while the melee lasted.
The protesters had begun their protest from the Otovwodo junction axis of Ughelli and marched through Isoko road to the market road while boycotting the Ughelli ‘A’ division police station to Ekuigbo and back to Otovwodo junction.
Protesting in a convoy of tens of exotic cars in the company of some female protesters, one of the leaders of the protesters who identified himself as Ochuko, said they had decided to boycott the police station in a bid to forestall a clash with policemen at the station.
It was gathered that some of the protesters who were apparently agitated, had met a team of policemen at Otovwodo junction were the protest walk was supposed to end and a clash ensued leading to sporadic gunfire with the police returning same.
An eye witness at the scene of the incident told Vanguard that upon sighting the policemen, the protesters opened fire leading to the death of a policeman while the others fled.
Though efforts to speak with the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onowakpoyeya were fruitless as at the time of this report, the source who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: “Several cars were damaged following the pandemonium that ensued as the protesters opened fire on the police team leading to the death of a police corporal.
“The corporal who was on special duty at the scene of the incident identified as Stanley was until his death attached to the Ughelli Police Area Command.”

Falz: We Want SARS Completely Abolished, Not A Reform
After a peaceful protest, Folarin Falana, better known by his stage name Falz, took to his IG page to thank those who came out for the protest.
In a 46sec video uploaded by Falz, Falz made it known that he doesn't want SARS to be reform. He wants SARS to be completely scrapped.

A discplinary action has been commenced against policeman, Obioma O. Obi who was seen in a viral video assaulting #EndSARS protesters.
This was confirmed by Imo police commissioner, Isaac O. Akinmoyede in a statement released by the state's police spokesperson, Ikeokwu Godson Orlando.
Akinmoyede who condemned the unprofessional conduct by a police officer attempting to assault some protesting citizens against alleged human rights violations by personnel of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), said the conduct displayed by the officer is not a true reflection of the ethics, standards, values and training of the Nigeria Police Force.
The police commissioner noted that it is within the rights of the citizens to express their concerns through protest and other legitimate means.
The statement read;
Quote:The Commissioner of Police, Imo state, CP Isaac O. Akinmoyede, psc, fdc, MNIM, has condemned the unprofessional conduct by a police officer, captured in a trending video, attempting to assault some protesting citizens against alleged human rights violations by personnel of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Imo State, today, 8th October, 2020. The CP notes that the conduct displayed by the officer is not a true reflection of the ethics, standards, values and training of the Nigeria Police Force.
The CP, while noting that disciplinary action has already commenced against the erring officer, however observes that much as it is within the rights of the citizens to express their concerns through protest and other legitimate means, they should do so in a peaceful manner, devoid of violence and disruption of public peace and order.
The CP calls on the people of Imo State to exercise restraint and be patient with the ongoing reforms on SARS and other Tactical Squads of the Force.
He reassures that the Command will fully comply with the directives of the IGP towards preventing any violation of the rights of the citizen and improving on the working relationship between the Command and residents of the State.

Actor and the member representing Surulere Constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Desmond Elliot, has backed the call for the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad(SARS).
While addressing #EndSARS protesters at the Lagos Assembly complex in Ikeja the Lagos state capital today October 9, Elliott believes that the brutality by some members of the Special Anti-Robbery (SARS) unit has gone beyond releasing hotlines for their activities to be reported or for a reform to be carried out.
Quote:“It has gone beyond having hotlines or doing reforms. As the Deputy Speaker rightly said, we really need to look into it.
The IG of police seriously must consider. Nigeria Police are working for the people. If the (SARS) unit is working for the people and the people are calling for it to be disbanded, then let us do what they are saying.”he said
He frowned at the attitude of some SARS officers who arrest people because of their appearance.
Quote:“The truth is, you can’t just arrest people on the road because of the hair they wear. That is not to say that we do not have bad people but because of the lack of training on how to deal civilly with people, we now come to have what SARS is today.
So, I am in alignment with the prayers of the deputy speaker and I feel that we should do that expeditiously.”Elliott said
The outcry against police brutality and extra-judicial killings continued on Friday October 9, with protesters occupying the Lagos State House of Assembly Complex.

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of State, Labour and Employment, has thrown his weight behind the protest against operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, unit of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF.
Keyamo said aggrieved Nigerians must be allowed to embark on a peaceful protest over issues they feel aggrieved over.
In a tweet, the minister insisted that peaceful protest was a democratic culture.
“Peaceful protests by citizens to ventilate their frustrations is part of a democratic culture. They MUST be allowed to do this without inhibitions.
“That culture also requires that citizens be willing to sit down after the protests to have some reasonable conversation on the issues,” he tweeted.
In the past few days, Nigerians across the country have been protesting against the illegality and unconstitutional activities of SARS operatives.
On Friday, some policemen had attacked protesters in Abuja with tear gas.
Also, Saraki’s former aide, Olu Onemola was arrested over his involvement in the protest in Abuja.

Some Nigerians have berated the founder of the Living Faith Bible Church, Bishop David Oyedepo, over his silence in the wake of the extrajudicial killings by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad.
Nigerians lamented that Oyedepo has the power to help in such situations but have remained silent.
However, some Nigerians dismissed the claim, stressing that the Living Faith founder was the most outspoken pastor in the country.
In a mixed reaction on Twitter, Nigerians maintained that Oyedepo has always spoken against bad governance in the country.
They made the call in a series of tweets gathered by DAILY POST, on Friday.
