Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori to decide whether to represent England, Nigeria or Canada
England, Nigeria, and Canada are ready to battle for the services of Chelsea's defender Fikayo Tomori.
The 21-year-old was born in Calgary, Canada, to Nigerian parents but raised in England. He is eligible to represent the senior national teams of Nigeria, Canada, and England despite playing for Canada's Under 20 team and for England's Under 20 and Under 21 teams.
Speaking on the situation, Tomori said: 'I'm a citizen of all three [countries] so we'll see. I was born in Canada and lived there about seven or eight months old. My family is Nigerian, obviously I live in England. It's nice to have that. I can't play Under-21 football anymore so the last international break I didn't get called up to anyone. Next one maybe we'll see.'
His manager Frank Lampard also spoke on the situation and insisted that he won't try to influence his decision.
Lampard said: 'It's his choice. I wouldn't tell him where to play internationally. But he's played for [England] Under-21s and if he continues with his form and keeps improving then of course I would expect there to be potential for England if Gareth chooses to select him.
'He shouldn't worry about it at the minute. He should just worry about how he's playing every game or how he trains every day and That will be a nice problem for him, hopefully, if he's eligible for three. He can chose which one he wants.'

EPL: Manchester United release statement after 2-0 defeat at West Ham

Manchester United have moved to assure supporters, that the club remain committed to “competing for trophies at the highest level”.
United, who lost 2-0 to West Ham on Sunday, won the last of their 20 league titles in 2013.
In the subsequent six seasons, the Red Devils have been criticised for the way they have balanced commercial success, with building a team capable of challenging for top honours.
But at a fans’ forum, United sought to address some of the supporter frustration, where they said the club is heading in the right direction.
A United statement read: “Everyone at the club, from the owners down, is focused on competing for and winning trophies at the highest level. To do that we have invested heavily in the playing squad and will continue to do so.
“At the same time, the exciting pool of talent coming through from our youth and academy sections is a result of increased investment in this area over the last five years. It’s important to note that while our successful commercial operation helps drive that investment, the priority is the focus on achieving success on the pitch.
“Similarly, it is worth noting that we are not looking at or buying players based on their commercial appeal. We agree that recruitment is critical. We are committed to getting this right and there has been huge investment in this area to put our recruitment department into a position to be able to deliver the manager the players he wants. This process is significantly more effective than four or five years ago.”

Ronaldo, who was absent from the award showpiece event, immediately posted a photo of himself operating his i-pad while at home, suggesting that he purposely avoided the awards ceremony.

His post on the social media platform came just immediately after the award show ended, and he could be seen visibly relaxed at home, with his son reading a book at the dining table.

Real Madrid’s teenage Brazilian duo, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo, sent them top of LaLiga, as both scored in a 2-0 victory over Osasuna on Wednesday night.
Vinicius ended a goal drought which had dragged on since February, with a deflected effort in the first half from the edge of the box.
Manager Zinedine Zidane started a heavily rotated XI with Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois all on the bench.
After missing several chances, Vinicius opened scoring in the 35th minute with a deflected effort.
Rodrygo, who arrived in the summer from Santos, finally gave Real their second.
Real Madrid climbed to the top of the standings with 14 points from six games, one point and one place ahead of Atletico Madrid, whom they face on Saturday in the derby at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Lionel Messi caught up in FIFA The Best vote-rigging storm with countries claiming they didn't vote for him
FIFA's prestigious The Best awards have been struck by a vote-rigging storm after claims that the ballot was rigged.
During a glitzy ceremony in Milan on Monday, September 23, Lionel Messi was crowned the best men’s player of the year ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Virgil van Dijk.
Now there is doubt and questions are being asked over the legitimacy of the voting with countries claiming they didn't vote for Lionel Messi.
Read full report by Daily Mail below.
Quote:The Egyptian football association, Sudan’s coach Zdravko Logarusic and Nicaragua’s captain Juan Barrera have raised concerns over the authenticity of the ballots - citing uncounted or misallocated votes.
Egypt’s association have called on FIFA to explain why the votes of its national coach Shawki Ghareeb and captain Ahmed were not taken into account.
Ghareeb and El-Mohammadi are not mentioned in FIFA’s publication of official votes.
The Egyptian Football Federation claim they officially sent Egypt’s vote to FIFA on August 15, four days before the deadline.
Their statement ‘asks FIFA why the Egyptian vote was not accepted’ and goes on to confirm the EFA have opened an ‘investigation’ into the circumstances of this failure.
Additionally, Sudan’s coach Lugarisic and Nicaragua’s Juan Barrera took to social media to indicate that the votes published by FIFA, in their names, did not reflect their actual choices.
Lugarisic says his first choice was Egypt’s Mohamed Salah but FIFA’s voting document showed Messi as his first selection.
Barrera is also adamant that he did not vote for Messi, as claimed by FIFA.
‘I did not vote for Messi. I was surprised to be on the list of captains who voted for Messi and there is no explanation how it appeared there,’ Barrera is reported to have said.

World Football Governing Body FIFA has denied claims that votes for Lionel Messi to win the Best Player Award were rigged, MySportDab reports.
Lionel Messi walked away with the best men's player accolade at the glitzy ceremony in Milan on Monday, pipping Cristiano Ronaldo and Virgil van Dijk to the award.
Given Van Dijk's remarkable season at Liverpool and Ronaldo's excellent campaign at Juventus - Messi winning the award was met with a degree of surprise.
FIFA determines the best players based on the votes of national team coaches, captains as well as a journalist from each country.
But Messi's claim to the honour has been thrown into doubt following after Egyptian football association and Nicaragua's captain Juan Barrera raised concerns over the authenticity of the ballots - citing uncounted or misallocated votes.
Egypt's association called on FIFA to explain why the votes of Coach Shawki Ghareeb and captain Ahmed Elmohamady were not taken into account.
Ghareeb and Elmohamady - who both opted for Mohamed Salah as their top choice - are not mentioned in FIFA's publication of official votes that was published after the award ceremony.
The Egyptian FA claim they officially sent their votes to FIFA on August 15, four days before the deadline.
On Thursday, the governing body provided a bizarre explanation as to why the Egyptian's votes weren't included - claiming the signatures on the voting forms were in capital letters and thus invalid.

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham is far from pleased with his FIFA 20 rating after receiving a ‘special delivery’ at Cobham today.
The 21-year-old has got off to a flyer since being brought back into the first-team fold by Frank Lampard, scoring seven goals in his first six Premier League appearances this season.
He also bagged a superb hat-trick earlier this month, helping the Blues to a 5-2 win away at Wolves.
But EA Sports have not rewarded Abraham for his fine form early on in the 2019/20 campaign.
Chelsea today posted a video on Twitter of the youngster and captain Cesar Azpilicueta, captioned:
“The lads received a special delivery from @EASPORTSFIFA at Cobham today…
Before adding: “@TammyAbraham is not happy with those ratings!”
In the video, Abraham and Azpilicueta discuss their ratings having been sent what looks like a personalised package containing their player card and the new game - which is being released tomorrow.
The Spanish defender has been rated 84 in FIFA 20, but Abraham has to settle for a 76 rating.
“Hello guys, I’m here with Tammy Abraham. How are you?” says Azpilicueta.
“Not good,” Abraham replies.
Azpilicueta responds: “Not happy?”
“No,” Abraham says.
Pointing at Azpilicueta’s player card, Abraham adds: “Look at that, that’s good. But look, they don’t rate my pace, nothing!”
Abraham is one of several Chelsea youngsters who have hit the ground running this season.
Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori, who also scored away at Wolves in a proud day for the Blues academy, have become key players at the Bridge since Lampard took charge.
And in their 7-1 Carabao Cup thrashing of Grimsby last night, Billy Gilmour and Marc Guehi made their full debuts for the club.

EPL: Lampard names Chelsea’s first-choice defender this season
on
September 27, 2019
By
Don Silas
Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard, has identified 21-year-old star, Fikayo Tomori, as the Blues’ number one defender this season.
Lampard said this on Friday ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Brighton on Saturday at Stamford Bridge.
According to him, Tomori has been impressive for Chelsea so far this season.
”I know Arsenal for a long time have played young players in some competitions. I only want to speak to ourselves, you can’t walk away from a transfer ban,” Lampard told reporters at his pre-match press conference.
”There is competition in there, Tomori is now number one or two as it stands. He is really playing well. Age isn’t a huge story.”
Tomori has started each of the last three games for Chelsea in the Premier League, scoring once against Wolves.
He was brought into Chelsea’s first-team squad this campaign after spending time on loan at Brighton, Hull City and Derby County in previous seasons.

PSG manager speaks on relationship between Neymar, Mbappe
Published
on
September 28, 2019
PSG manager, Thomas Tuchel, is hoping Kylian Mbappe and Neymar can forge a deadly partnership this season.
Speaking at a news conference on Friday, Tuchel confirmed both Mbappe and loanee Mauro Icardi, are available again after recent injuries.
The PSG boss is all too aware that if Mbappe and Neymar can combine consistently, the reigning Ligue 1 champions will take some stopping.
“The relationship between the two is the key for us, they can bring us a lot of possibilities.
“Mbappe has been hurt for weeks, we have to be patient, and tomorrow it’s impossible for Kylian to play 90 minutes.
“We have to adapt to the situation and the opponent. Tomorrow, we will be able to play Mbappe and Icardi,” Tuchel said.
Wednesday’s 2-0 loss to Reims was PSG’s first home defeat in Ligue 1 since May 2018, before Tuchel took charge.
The loss leaves the Parisians clinging to top spot, only ahead of Angers on goal difference, with Tuchel eager for his side to set things right on Saturday against Bordeaux.
“It’s a good thing to play quickly after the loss.
“It’s always hard to find a good mood after a setback – it’s the challenge tomorrow against a good team from Bordeaux, to start winning again.
“It was a lack of intensity. It was a surprise for me because I made some changes to have intensity.
“I hate to lose, it was super hard. We can do better and we’ll improve,” he added

Paul Pogba 'tells Manchester United to increase his weekly salary to £600k' in an effort to force a move
Paul Pogba has reportedly told Manchester United to increase his weekly salary to £600k (£30million-a-year).
The Frenchman who has been linked with a move away from Manchester United to Juventus and Real Madrid asked for huge wages in an effort to force a move in January.
According to Tuttosport, the midfielder who is currently on around £300,000-a-week would like to see that amount increased massively to around £600k-a-week.
Pogba has two years left on his contract, and United have an option to extend his contract for another year. But the footballer may call it a quit if his new demands is not met.
Back in 2016, Manchester United completed the transfer of Paul Pogba from Juventus for a world-record transfer fee of £89m.

Undefeated boxer Deontay Wilder announces rematch with Cuba’s Luis Ortiz on November 23rd
Undefeated American boxer, Deontay Wilder is set for a rematch with Cuba’s Luis Ortiz on November 23rd, in Las Vegas United States, in what will be the third defence of his World Boxing Council heavyweight crown in a year.
According to the organisers and promoters, the November 23rd matchup at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas gives 40-year-old southpaw Ortiz a chance to avenge his loss to Wilder in a 10th-round stoppage in March 2018 in his only prior world title bout.
Quote:“When I fought Ortiz, not only did he have the pedigree, but also he had the classification of being the boogeyman of the division.
I agree with those who say that Luis Ortiz was my toughest fight to date. No one wanted to fight him and they still don’t. In the rematch there’s more confidence and more motivation to do what I have to do.
“I’ve already seen the style before. It’s going to make it more fun. I can’t wait to see how he tries to handle me when I’m at my best” Wilder said.
The card also features Mexico’s Leo Santa Cruz, the reigning World Boxing Association featherweight champion, fighting compatriot Miguel Flores for the WBA super featherweight crown, trying to become a champion in his fourth different weight class.
Wilder, 41-0 with one drawn and 40 knockouts, will turn 34 in October before facing Ortiz, 31-1 with 26 knockouts. In their first matchup at Brooklyn, Wilder knocked down Ortiz in the fifth round, was stunned by the Cuban in the seventh but battled back to drop Ortiz again with a powerful right uppercut in the 10th to end the fight.
It will be the 10th time Wilder defends the title he won by unanimous decision over Canada’s Bermane Stiverne in January 2015. Wilder will be making his third defense in just over 11 months, having settled for a draw with Britain’s Tyson Fury last December before knocking out countryman Dominic Breazeale in May.
Ortiz has won three fights since losing to Wilder, the most recent a 10-round decision over Romanian Christian Hammer in March. “I have to give Deontay Wilder a lot of credit for taking this fight because it shows he has the heart of a true champion,” Ortiz said.

DOHA2019: Nigerian athlete, Divine Oduduru disqualified from IAAF World Championships
Top Nigerian sprinter Divine Oduduru has been disqualified from taking part in the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Doha, after pulling out of Friday’s 100m event.
Oduduru ran foul of one of the competition rules which resulted in a stiff punishment from the world athletics body, IAAF. Oduduru had pulled out of the 100m event on Friday to focus on the 200m but the decision has ruled him out of the event and he will not also be part of the team’s relays, according to the IAAF rule.
Oduduru was initially entered for three events in the Men 100m, 200m and 4x100m relays. However, on the eve of his participation, the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN tweeted that he had opted to ‘concentrate’ on the 200m and pulled out of the 100m which he had been registered for.
Allowing him to have his way was a gaffe on the part of the AFN as the competition rules does not allow such last-minute withdrawals.
Consequently, on event day Oduduru was not listed in the Men’s 200m heat, because of the violation in the regulations.
With Oduduru technically knocked off, only Emmanuel Arowolo will represent Nigeria in the event which is starting on Sunday.
An excerpt of the competition rules states:
Quote:At all competitions under Rules 1.1(a), (b), © and (f), an athlete shall be excluded from participation in all further events (including other events in which he is simultaneously participating) in the competition, including relays, in cases where: (a) a final confirmation was given that the athlete would start in an event but then failed to participate;
Note: A fixed time for the final confirmation of participation shall be published in advance. At the African Games, Oduduru also opted out of the 100m and only competed in the 200m and 4x100m races where he won silver medals.
The AFN is yet to issue any official statement on the obvious technical gaffe that has further trimmed Nigeria’s slim chances of winning any medal in Doha.
Meanwhile, the duo of Raymond Ekevwo and Rilwanu Alowonle who competed in the semifinal of the 100m and 400m Hurdles events on Saturday both failed to make it to the finals having finished 5th and 8th respectively.
