EPL: Solskjaer speaks on Pogba’s mistake in Man United 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace
Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has defended Paul Pogba, after he lost the ball in the build-up to Crystal Palace’s injury-time winner.
United fell behind in the first half at Old Trafford, following Jordan Ayew’s goal against the run of play.
But after Marcus Rashford missed a penalty in the second half, Daniel James scored an equaliser in the 89th minute.
With United pushing for the winning goal, Pogba was caught in possession in midfield and Palace were able to spark a counter and Patrick van Aanholt’s low strike squeezed underneath David De Gea.
But, Solskjaer has defended the World Cup winner and insists he has “no problem” with the midfielder’s tendency to hold on to possession.
“I thought he, as the rest of the team, grew into the game.
“He won the ball really well for our first goal, he played some great passes.
“He knows and we know he’s going to want the ball all the time.
“He knows that, yeah, he lost the ball, but he’ll lose the ball again and he’ll try again.
“So no problem with that,” Solskjaer told Sky Sports.

LaLiga: What Zidane said about Real Madrid’s 1-1 draw with Valladolid
Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane, has urged fans to continue to back the team, despite their shock 1-1 draw with Real Valladolid on Saturday night.
Karim Benzema scored what looked to be the winner in the 82nd minute, but Sergi Guardiola struck his second goal of the season to level the game.
Having finished last season 19 points adrift of Barcelona, Zidane knows the pressure has increased again this season and he is demanding that fans to lend their backing.
When asked if the team is under more scrutiny because of last term, Zidane told a post-match press conference: “I noticed it at the Bernabeu – the crowd [feels the pressure] too.
“The fans also have to help us. There’s no choice. I know it is difficult, but I’m asking because they have also taken advantage of our successes. We will try everything on our part.”
Zidane also felt his side deserved a better result than the draw on Saturday.
“We have a bad feeling because we did the hardest thing, to score the goal in the second half, when we were not playing well.
“And with three or four minutes remaining they tied us.
“We were out of position and it is tough, because we deserved more, especially in the first half.
“It is not about losing that ball, because that is something that can happen, but we were out of place to defend it and that is hard. In that situation we have to put the ball out.
“It was not possible to win from there. We have to improve. We have to play well for 90 minutes. These days it is not good enough to play 50 or 60 good minutes,” Zidane added.

Barcelona won the Copa Catalunya, their 10th in 11 years, by beating Espanyol 4-0 at the Municipal de Palamos stadium in Costa Brava yesterday night.
The Azulgranas controlled the rhythm of the game and had the higher percentage of ball possession right from the beginning of the game. The first goal scoring opportunity of the game fell to the Cules when Maria Leon latched on to the ball from a corner kick and struck the woodwork.
The Luis Cortes girls showed great team work and exhibited the classic Barca passing-possession game, which culminated in a great assist by Alexia Putellas and a fantastic goal by Asisat Oshoala in the 25th minute. The Nigerian has scored in every game so far this season (9 goals in 6 games).

EPL: Tottenham’s top attacker reveals who caused Spurs’ 1-0 defeat to Newcastle Utd
on
August 25, 2019
Tottenham Hotspur top attacker, Heung-Min Son has reacted to his side’s Premier League 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United on Sunday.
Son blamed Mauricio Pochettino’s men for not being clinical enough in front of goal against Newcastle despite having a lot of chances during the encounter.
Newcastle’s club record signing, Joelinton scored the only goal of the match in the 27th minute following an assist from Christian Atsu to give the visitors all three points against Mauricio Pochettino’s side
“The goals were missing today. We had plenty of chances but we were not clinical enough,” Son was quoted as saying by the BBC Sport after the match.
“It’s always hard against teams that play deep, it makes it more difficult.
“I think we had chances to score, we should have got something out of this game.
“We have only played three games, there is a long way to go.
“This was not the best result but we have to stay positive and go again.”
Tottenham will now take on Arsenal in their next Premier League fixture on September 1.

EPL: Real reason Manchester City defeated Bournemouth – Guardiola
on
August 25, 2019
Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has said his team’s extra quality in attack made the difference as the champions powered to a 3-1 win at Bournemouth on Sunday.
Sergio Aguero struck twice to take his career goal tally to 400, while Raheem Sterling was also on target with his fifth goal in the opening three Premier League games.
Their second victory this season ensured second-placed City remained two points behind leaders Liverpool.
Speaking in a post match press conference, Guardiola acknowledged his side had been forced to work hard for the win.
He highlighted the ruthlessness of City’s finishing as the decisive factor on a hot day at Dean Court.
“It was a tough game, we knew it would be. We have seven points. We should have nine, but it’s OK.
“It’s a nice three points but we have a few things to improve. They were stronger than us in the boxes. But the quality of our players in front made the difference,” he said.

LaLiga: What Griezmann said after scoring two goals in Barcelona’s win over Real Betis
Barcelona star, Antoine Griezmann, has expressed happiness after scoring two goals for the La Liga champions in their 5-2 win over Real Betis on Sunday at Camp Nou.

Griezmann who joined Barcelona from Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window for £107million, said it was beautiful after scoring at Camp Nou.
He, however, thanked Barcelona fans for their support during the match.
“How beautiful it is to score at Camp Nou! Thank you for your culés support, let our colors shine!,” the France World Cup winner posted on Twitter alongside picture of himself celebrating his goal.

Mourinho takes final decision on returning to his former club
Former Real Madrid manager, Jose Mourinho has finally decided to return to the Spanish La Liga giants, according to Spanish newspaper, AS.
The former Chelsea boss is watching developments at Real Madrid closely and believes there could be an opportunity for him to replace current manager, Zinedine Zidane.
Zidane’s men played a 1-1 disappointing draw against Real Valladolid last weekend at home.
Mourinho, who spent three seasons at Real Madrid, won one La Liga title during his time at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 56-year-old has also managed in Italy as well as in his native Portugal with FC Porto.
Mourinho’s last managerial job was with Manchester United where he was sacked in December.
The Portuguese was close to tears during an interview few days ago as he admitted he missed football.
Mourinho said: “I miss my football, I have the fire. The most difficult thing for me is to say “no” to the possibilities I had to work.
“I have to be patient and wait for the right one and the right one is one at the dimension of what I am as a manager.”

EPL: Chelsea boss, Lampard gives latest injury update on Kante, Pedro
Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard, Monday, provided the latest injury updates on N’Golo Kante and Pedro.
Kante sustained an ankle sprain which he has carried all through last week.
Pedro suffered a hamstring injury before Chelsea’s 3-2 Premier League win over Norwich City over the weekend.
“Pedro picked up a hamstring injury and we will assess the severity of it over the next couple of days, but I think it will be tough for him to be back for next week at first glance,” Lampard was quoted by Chelsea’s official website as saying on Monday.
“We obviously then have the international break, so that might help, but we will be trying to get him back as quickly as possible because he’s an important player.
“It’s a difficult one with N’Golo because he’s had four years of constant playing.
“We knew he had that injury from the Europa League final last season, which affected his pre-season, and then he picked up an ankle injury last week. He’s trying and we are trying to get him through it, but the game yesterday just came too quickly and he was in too much pain.”
Chelsea will take on Sheffield United in their next Premier League fixture on August 31.

EPL: Iwobi reveals what ‘demanding’ Everton manager tells him in training
Alex Iwobi has said that a ‘demanding’ Everton manager like Marco Silva, will improve his performances.
The Nigerian midfielder left Arsenal for a fee around £40million this summer, signing a five-year deal with the Toffees.
Iwobi made his debut in their 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa in Friday’s Premier League game.
The 23-year-old replaced Gylfi Sigurdsson in the 61st minute of the game and could have got a goal in the match, but was denied by the post.
“Before I came on, the manager said he wanted me to try to add some creativity.
“I felt sharp. And when I struck that ball [that hit the post], I thought it had gone in. It’s my aim to try to get more goals and assists.
“I have been working on that in training with the manager and the players, so hopefully I’ll be able to help my team get more goals.
“The manager demands a lot and he always reminds me in training of what I need to do. He’ll keep on helping me and improving me as a player,” Iwobi told Everton TV.

August 27, 2019
Inter Milan manager, Antonio Conte, has hailed the club’s record signing, Romelu Lukaku, as a “gentle giant” after he netted a debut goal in their 4-0 thumping of 10-man Lecce.
Lukaku and Stefano Sensi scored on their Inter bows on Monday, while Marcelo Brozovic and Antonio Candreva also found the back of the net.
The Belgium striker impressed with his high energy levels and sharp build-up play.
Conte previously wanted to bring Lukaku to Chelsea during his time in charge at Stamford Bridge and he is enjoying finally getting to work with the former Manchester United man.
“Lukaku stepped into the Inter world in the best possible way, with great humility.
“He is a gentle giant, he always has a smile on his face. He is ready to work for the team and is at the disposal of his team-mates.
“I also want to highlight that Lautaro Martinez also played very well and everyone deserves praise.
“It was only the first game, so we can celebrate until midnight, but from tomorrow we have to start thinking about the next match with Cagliari,” Conte told DAZN.

on
August 27, 2019
Paris Saint-Germain star, Neymar could leave the club to join Barcelona on a season-long loan after the La Liga giants made a third offer for the Brazilian international on Tuesday.
According to Le Parisien, Barcelona want to take Neymar on loan before September 2 with an obligation to buy the 27-year-old attacker for £154million – paying one lump sum either next summer or in 2021.
The newspaper reports that the deal would also see Forward, Ousmane Dembele head to the Parc des Princes on loan at the same time, with PSG having an option to make the deal permanent if they desired.
DAILY POST had reported that Barcelona have already seen two bids turned down for Neymar, who left the club for France in a world record €222million transfer in 2017.
PSG rejected a first offer which included Philippe Coutinho, Ivan Rakitic and €80million.
The Ligue 1 champions also turned down their request to take him on loan this season, ahead of a permanent move next summer, in a deal which would have been worth around €190m.
Neymar had already revealed his intention to leave PSG for Barcelona in this summer’s transfer window.

Transfer: Barcelona, PSG finally agree fee for Neymar
Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona have set the price for Neymar at €170million, ESPN reports.
However, the details about payments are holding up the deal.
PSG want the entire amount to be paid up front, but Barca are exploring different ways to cover the fee, following a busy summer in which they brought in Antoine Griezmann, Frenkie De Jong, Neto and Junior Firpo for a combined €239million.
During a meeting between the two sides on Tuesday, Barcelona offered to pay €40million in 2019, with additional payments of €65million to be made in 2020 and 2021.
But the Ligue 1 side rejected that proposal and insisted that they want the entire fee paid up front.
The Spanish champions are now looking to include Ousmane Dembele as a makeweight in the deal.
A source close to negotiations, claimed that the next 48 hours will be decisive for the negotiations.
Barcelona technical secretary, Javier Bordas, said after the meetings that the club “felt closer to a deal than in days past.”
