It baffles me how we dutifully teach a young girl the importance of thinking for herself and making her own money, yet when she emerges into the real world as strong, powerful, freethinking force, we instantly alienate her.
Our culture quickly lets her know opinionated girls are simply not welcome in this world.
We’re instructing them to be self-assured, We’re encouraging them to speak their minds unhindered and when they do, we tell them how radical and unlovable they are.
So what’s with this society's unwillingness to truly embrace the independent woman in a real and honest way?
Why is everyone so threatened by a girl who is independent?
