Liverpool have won the 2019 UEFA Super Cup after a fantastic 2-2 draw match against Chelsea before winning 5-4 on penalties earlier today in turkey, MySportDab reports. 

Adrian, a replacement for Alisson who injured his calf during Liverpool's Premier League win over Norwich, blocked a tame penalty from Tammy Abraham to ensure a 5-4 shootout win.

Liverpool and Chelsea could not be separated in normal time, with Olivier Giroud and Sadio Mane both scoring to take the game to extra time.

But the two sides were locked at 2-2 after a penalty from Jorginho cancelled out another Mane goal, only for Liverpool to triumph in the battle of nerve from 12-yards.

After the final whistle, Liverpool players and coach Jurgen Klopp celebrated wild at their new trophy triumph.

Barcelona manager, Ernesto Valverde, will not risk an unfit Lionel Messi in Friday’s LaLiga opener against Athletic Bilbao.
Messi injured his calf in training, before his side’s brief pre-season tour of the United States and has not yet returned to full training a day before the game.

Valverde, speaking to the media on Thursday, insisted he will not gamble on his captain’s fitness.
“We never like to risk any players and much less someone like Leo.
“He still hasn’t returned to training with the team and while we are happy with his progress, individual training is very different to playing a match. We are going to wait and see,” Valverde said.

Barca have spent over £180million on signings including Frenkie de Jong and Antoine Griezmann, but continue to be linked with a second swoop for Neymar, two years after he left the Catalans for PSG for a world record £200m.
Valverde claimed he is not involved with transfers at the Camp Nou.
“It’s inconvenient and it’s not logical. The normal thing would be that the team you start with is the same one that will compete for the whole season.

“Now we have two weeks until the transfer window shuts and you can’t breathe easily until then. I’m very happy with the squad I have at the moment but I don’t know what will happen next.
“I am far removed from transfers and I’m focusing on the players I have for our first game.
“Neymar belongs to PSG and we’ll see what happens but I can’t say anything more about him,” he added.

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has said he was not impressed with the penalty decision awarded to Chelsea during Wednesday night’s UEFA Super Cup.
But the German reserved praise for the all-female officiating team.

Stephanie Frappart, 35, made history by becoming the first woman to take charge of a major men’s European match alongside her assistants, Manuela Nicolosi and Michelle O’Neill.
Tammy Abraham went down under a challenge from Adrian in the first half of extra time and Frappart swiftly pointed to the spot before brief consultation with VAR.
Klopp felt aggrieved at the penalty decision but was full of praise for the officials who performed superbly on the night.

He then told reporters after the game: “I told the ref team after the game that if we would have played like they whistled, we would have won 6-0. That was my absolute opinion.
“They played a brilliant game. I told her as well that I am not happy with the penalty decision because I’m still not sure that it was a penalty, but it’s not important anymore. They were really good.
“Whatever you could have thought before the game, there was pressure on them like hell with an historic moment.

“Staying by yourself, staying calm and do what you have to do, decide very important things in a very difficult and intense game, I couldn’t have more respect, to be honest. It was a really brilliant performance.”

Paris Saint-Germain sporting director, Leonardo, has dismissed reports that Neymar has been removed from Thomas Tuchel’s playing group.
Neymar has not featured for PSG since May 11.

“It’s wrong. He is not removed from the group.
“He follows his personalised rehabilitation program. He’s a Paris Saint-Germain player, he’s still in Paris for three years, so do not forget.
“We must analyse everything, we must fix everything before he can play again,” Leonardo told RMC Sport.

The Brazil forward also missed the entirety of the Copa America with an ankle ligament injury.

Spanish side, CD Leganes have confirmed the signing of Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem.
Awaziem joined the La Liga side on a season-long loan from Porto.

He played on the right-back spot after Abdullahi Shehu suffered an injury in their opener against Burundi at the African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The versatile player joined Porto in the 2014-15 season from local club Junior Elkanemi and has played 15 games for their first team, scoring one goal.
The 22-year-old signed for Leganes after a recent loan spell at Turkish side, çaykur Rizespor, for whom he made 16 appearances in the second half of the 2018-2019 campaign.

He made his Champions League debut for Porto in a 3-2 win at Galatasaray in December 2018.
Awaziem will wear the number 12 jersey in LaLiga this season.
He is the second Nigeria international defender to join Leganes in the summer transfer window after Kenneth Omeruo.

Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard has named two players that impressed him most during their 5-4 shootout loss to Liverpool on Wednesday night.
Lampard’s Blues put in an encouraging performance against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup despite being beaten on penalties.

The new manager was impressed and identified Jorginho and Emerson as his top performers.
The former Chelsea midfielder, singled out midfielder Jorginho, who scored the equalising penalty in extra-time, and full-back Emerson for praise after their performances.
Asked to pick out the standout performer, Lampard replied: “Well one of my players obviously.”

He was quoted by Mirror, “It’s a difficult one I think. I loved the performance of Jorginho for us and I loved the performance of Emerson, I thought they were both fantastic.
“And when you think of 120 minutes for two players who played on Sunday evening, so Liverpool were fresher than us, I thought they were leaders in the team.
“But I liked the performance of all of my players. Not one player was below par today. Everyone gave everything, the subs made an impact. So all, all of them.”

Despite a difficult start, Rodgers believes the former Derby County boss is an ideal fit for Chelsea.

Arsenal legend, Nigel Winterburn, has urged the club manager, Unai Emery to make defender, David Luiz the Gunners’ new captain following the departure of Laurent Koscielny.
The 55-year-old former defender believes Luiz has the qualities to replace Koscielny as Arsenal’s new captain this season.

Luiz, who joined the North London from Chelsea on transfer deadline day, made his debut in Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Burnley on Saturday afternoon.

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has identified forward, Raheem Sterling as one of the ‘most dangerous’ players in the Premier League.
Guardiola stated this ahead of Manchester City’s Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening at Etihad.

“Raheem is one of most dangerous players in the Premier League,” Guardiola told Man City’s official website on Friday.
“If you look at the top six teams you find top players. We have many, like Raheem Sterling.

Pep Guardiola and Sergio Aguero had a furious touchline bust-up after the striker was replaced by Gabriel Jesus in Manchester City's 2-2 draw with Tottenham, MySportDab reports.

Aguero was substituted in the 66th minute and appeared to make a comment as he walked past Guardiola in the dug-out.

The striker's words prompted a furious response from Guardiola, who turned around and began shouting at the striker, who responded with a verbal volley of his own.

Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane, has insisted that winger, Gareth Bale is going to stay at the club following his side’s La Liga 3-1 victory over Celta Vigo on Saturday.
He also said that the red card midfielder, Luka Modric had during the match, will not affect his side’s midfield in their next league game against Valladolid.

Zidane, however, said his players did well to get all three points against Celta Vigo.
Goals from Karim Benzema, Toni Kroos and Lucas Vazquez gave the Los Blancos all three points against Celta Vigo.
“Bale is going to stay. Every single player we have here gives us reasons to think positively about the team,” Zidane told reporters after the match.

“We have to focus on our current season. Hazard’s injury is very bad luck and it did not change the plans we had for Bale. Gareth, James and everybody who’s with us will defend this shirt as it deserves to be defended.
“We completed a very good game from the get go. Also when we were down to 10 men. We struggled to get this result and we’re satisfied and happy. There won’t be many teams capable of winning here. Our preseason was tough but we worked well knowing that the important thing was the real competition.”
Zidane added: “It’s tough to play away and we played a complete game. We did well all game long and I appreciate the effort everyone put in. Vini and Gareth’s defensive work was crucial, and the same can be said about Lucas and Isco’s. Everyone played well defensively and we know what we can do offensively.

Real Madrid winger, Gareth Bale has reacted to his side’s La Liga 3-1 victory over Celta Vigo on Saturday at Balaidos.
Goals from Karim Benzema, Toni Kroos and Lucas Vazquez gave Zinedine Zidane’s side all three points against the host.

Bale, who was named as a surprise starter for Real Madrid against Celta Vigo, set up Benzema’s opening goal for the Los Blancos.
The Welsh international described Real Madrid’s victory over Celta Vigo as great start to the 2019/2020 Spanish La Liga season.
“Vamos! Great start to the season! #HalaMadrid,” Bale posted on Twitter alongside pictures of himself with his teammates celebrating.

Bale will now hope to lead Real Madrid to victory when they tackle Valladolid in their next La Liga fixture on August 24 at Santiago Bernabeu.
