TOPIC: FOCUS ON THE MISSION


Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:2).


There’re many today, including leaders, who have forgotten the purpose and mission of the Church. They’re carried away by the work, so much so they’ve forgotten the objective. It’s like being on a journey but forgetting the destination; they’re carried away by the sights and pleasures, the many distractions and attractions on the way.


Why do you live? What’s your purpose? In 2 Corinthians 1:8-9, the Apostle Paul said, “For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life: 


But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead.” It’s only when you understand your mission that you can have an attitude and mindset as the one we see in the verses we just read.


Without a consciousness of the mission, you may be enjoying the journey, but you’re going nowhere. Therefore, you must live as one who has a destination, a God-given purpose. That way, nothing in this earth can shake you; the things of this earth will have no value to you, because your mind is on your purpose and on your mission.


It was so with Jesus, who “…for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame...” (Hebrews 12:2). It didn’t matter that they put a crown of thorns on His head with blood dripping from Him, and the excruciating pains from those nails; He endured it all.


It doesn’t matter what challenges you’re facing in your life; focus on the destination. Don’t let the things that happen along the way distract you from finishing your course. Paul demonstrated his resolve as stated in Acts 20:22-24: “And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: 

Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me. But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.”


CONFESSION

I refuse to be distracted by circumstances, experiences, or adversity. My focus is on Christ, His Word and His purpose for my life. I have a passion for God’s agenda, with my heart continually set on Him to do His will. I look beyond this world, and I’m ever strong in the Lord. Amen.

Say these with me, ‘God lives in me! The Spirit of God has set me in the direction of God’s perfect will. I am anointed and graced to take the message of Christ’s salvation to my world, making known the mysteries of our glorious kingdom, touching lives, and bringing the oppressed out of bondage and darkness into the glorious liberty of the sons of God. 


I am zealous and fervent, consumed with passion for the Gospel, and the things which the Spirit has placed in my heart to accomplish for His glory.

I win every day and make progress with giant strides. I am effective and effectual in the communication and expression of my faith. I am founded on the rock, therefore, I refuse to be afraid of the evil that destroys men’s life. 

At all times, my heart is open to receive instructions and corrections from the Spirit, which in turn propels me in the direction of God’s will and purpose for me. 


I will never be stagnant or barren in my walk of faith. I move with the speed of the Spirit, and God’s word is causing me to spread and make progress on every side. Hallelujah!


My spirit, soul, and body are conditioned by the word of God. Even now, I am strengthened with might by the Holy Ghost in my inner man, thus, nothing is impossible with me! I am sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency. Hallelujah!


 The Word of God is in my heart and in my mouth, producing results and bringing about a transformation in every area of my life. I am excelling in good judgment, having the right ideas, and making the right decisions, always. I am filled with the knowledge of God’s will, in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. Glory to God. Hallelujah

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

THEME: A WITNESS FOR GOD OR SATAN?
  
MEMORISE:

A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish. Proverbs 19:9

READ: Mark 14:57- 59.

57 And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying,

58 We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.

59 But neither so did their witness agree together.

MESSAGE: 
In Exodus 20:16 God commanded that we should not bear false witness against our neighbors. The consequences of being a false witness are found in Proverbs 19:9 where the Bible says: 
“A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.”

Wicked people rely on false witnesses to perpetrate their evil deeds. It was the false witness of Rehum the chancellor, Shimshai the scribe and their cohorts against the Jews that halted the rebuilding project of Zerubbabel according to Ezra Chapter 4. These people wrote false allegations against the Jews and their leadership, then sent the document to King Artaxerxes.

 “Then ceased the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem. So it ceased unto the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.” Ezra 4:24

The consequences of false witness can be unimaginable. False witnessing shall not destroy your destiny in Jesus’ name.

The only way the Jewish leaders could get Jesus crucified was through false witnessing. The Bible says:
“For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together.”  Mark 14:56

Despite the conspiracy, there were discrepancies in their reports. The lessons to learn here is that, as Christians, we must live above board like our Master if we shall not become easy prey to the accuser of the brethren. In the same vein, we must learn to be transparent and honest. This will prevent us from being false witnesses.

When we engage in false witnessing and other forms of falsehood, we crucify Jesus Christ over and over again. In what areas of your life are you being a false witness- a fake affidavit, a false claim that you are married with so many children whereas you are still single? May that lying spirit not blot your name from the book of life in Jesus’ name. Be a witness to the Truth; Jesus is the Truth personified, as clearly stated in John 1:17 and John 14:6.

Ask yourself today: are you a witness for God or Satan?

PRAYER POINT:
Father, please deliver me from every lying spirit and help me to be a true witness for Jesus Christ.

TOPIC: THE IMPORTANCE OF THE RIGHT COMPANY

The right company brings sharpening to vision, life and destiny.

SCRIPTURE: He that walketh with wise men, shall be wise but a companion of fools shall be destroyed Proverbs 13:20

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The right company brings sharpening to vision, life and destiny.
 
It has been established that the maintenance of the right company is key to life and destiny fulfilment. The right company helped Daniel in fulfilling vision (Daniel 2:17-20).

Now, how important is the right company to life and destiny?

1. The right company brings sharpening to vision, life and destiny (Proverbs 27: 17).

Where what you are trusting God for appears not to be clear, you can connect with the right person for sharpening. Where your life or destiny seems to be dull and blunt, you connect with the right people in your life to sharpen it. The right company brings sharpening to vision, life and destiny.

2. The right company brings the needed energy and synergy for the fulfilment of life’s vision and purpose

You need the synergy of energy for the fulfilment of life’s vision and purpose. Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 says, Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

My counsel is, connect with the right company for the fulfilment of your life and destiny.

Remember this: You need the synergy of energy for the fulfilment of life’s vision and purpose.

 ASSIGNMENTS:
 
1. Go through today’s message thoughtfully once again.

2. Ask God to give you the right company for destiny fulfilment.

PRAYER: Lord, I ask for the grace to keep the right company in order to fulfil destiny. Help me not to be a victim of wrong association, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
