VIDEO: #EndSARS Protesters In Lagos, Abuja Hold Jummat Prayers On The Road
Oct 16, 2020 EndSARS protesters in Lagos and Abuja on Friday, continued their protests across the city, demanding justice for all victims of police brutality and killings. While they continue to press for their demands to be met, the protest took another twist as the Muslim youths observed their Jummat prayers on the road. This comes 24 hours after the Federal Capital Territory Security Committee directed that all street demonstrations, protests, and processions will not be allowed anywhere within its environs henceforth. Jummat in Lagos According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary, Anthony Ogunleye, on Thursday, the development became necessary due to the dangers posed by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Jummat in Abuja It also comes days after the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, set up a new unit called the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, to replace the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Unit (SARS). But despite the developments, the protests have continued as many Nigerians suspect the new unit may amount to a mere change of name. As the protest continued on Friday with many rejecting the SWAT unit, the police have said no member of SARS will be in the unit and referred to the unit as Tactical Unit rather than SWAT. The police did not state whether it has changed the name of the unit from SWAT to Tactical Unit as an image (below) the force tweeted on Wednesday suggested.

WinHome Estates share packs of Food, Drinks and Water to #ENDSARS protesters as a show of unwavering support
The Nigerian Youth have suffered unthinkable molestation, harassment and abuse in the hands of men of #SARS who are being paid with tax payers monies to protect them. As an organization, @winhomesestate was at the Lekki-Epe toll plaza Protest ground to show solidarity with the Nigerian Youth and with the #endsars #endswat #endpolicebrutality Movement. A mere Change of Nomenclature from SARS to SWAT wouldn't yield the desired transformation. It will only leave us in an unending web of terror from the same men. Yesterday, Our members of staff were at the protest ground with packs of Food, Drinks & Water for the protesters as a show of unwavering support of our organization. We stand with Nigerian Youth as we earnestly await the birthing of a New Nigeria through this movement! #winhomesestate #winhomesglobal #realestateinlagos #realestate #endsarsbrutality #endsarsnow b

#EndSARS: Photos from the scene where armed hoodlums attacked protesters in Benin
At least one person has reportedly died while others sustained injuries on Friday, when armed hoodlums attacked peaceful protesters during the # EndSARS protest at Ring Road, Benin in Edo State. It was gathered that the hoodlums armed with machetes, guns and other weapons stormed the venue of the protest and attacked protesters. The hoodlums are said to be ticketers in the Ring Road motor park, who were angry over their inability to do their business since the protest began. Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, who confirmed the incident condemned the attack on #EndSARS protesters. "I have just learnt that hoodlums have attacked # ENDSARS protesters, who have conducted themselves peacefully in Benin City. I extend condolences to the victims of the attacks , including those who lost their lives and others who were injured by the thugs," the governor said. “It is disheartening that anyone would attack a peaceful assembly of young people who are expressing genuine concerns over police brutality and intimidation in their own country. Thorough investigation would be conducted immediately to fish out the culprits of the attack on peaceful # EndSARS protesters in Benin City, and we would do all possible within the law to ensure those culpable are brought to justice," Obaseki called on operatives of the state police command to ensure adequate security for the protesters. “I hereby call on the Edo State Police Command to get out on the streets and provide adequate security for the protesters and ensure that no one is harassed in the course of exercising their rights." he added.

I Was Raped By SARS Two Years Ago" - Young Woman Narrates Ordeal (Video)
A young woman claimed at a protest on Thursday that she's joining the call to end SARS and its replacement SWAT because she's been a victim and won't wait for her children to go what she went through. James Nwafor: "I Killed Your Son & Nothing Will Happen" - Awkuzu SARS
Life may never remain the same for Mr Emmanuel Iloabuchi Iloanya after the Officer in Charge of Awkuzu Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS), Mr. James O. Nwafor and his men allegedly killed his son Mr Chijioke Iloanya without getting justice. Mr Iloanya in a telephone chat with News9naija recounts how his son was arrested and gruesomely killed in cold blood by one Mr Jame O. Nwafor, now a retired police officer attached to Awkuzu SARS who led his boys to a naming ceremony and arrested attendees which many of the arrested never made it out alive, unfortunately, Mr Chijioke John Ilonanya was amongst those who never made it out alive. Upon learning about his arrest, on November 31, 2012, Mr Illoanya in company of his wife went to the Awkuzu Police Station were they met their son in handcuff, though they saw him there, they were driven out of the police station. Unsettled with the proceedings, Mr Iloanya proceeded to the office of the Anambra State Commissioner of Police where he met the Commissioner and his deputy. Upon narrating his sons ordeal to them, they promised him that nothing would happen to his son, but this promised was never fulfilled. Upon his subsequent visit to the commissioner, Mr Nwafor was summoned but never showed up. It was on his visit to the Commissioner's office in January 2013 that the Deputy Commissioner of Police told him of his son's death. Mr Iloanya proceeded to the Awkuzu SARS office where he met Mr James Nwafor. Upon request for his son's whereabouts, Mr Nwafor told him, "Go, I have wasted your son". This insensitive statement didn't go down well with Mrs Iloanya as she collapsed and was rushed to the hospital upon hearing what Mr Nwafor said. Mr Iloanya didn't stop there, he went on to seek justice for his slain son, if not for anything but to at least retrieve his corpse from the SARS. He met one, Rt Col. Emmanuel Udechukwu (now Late), a human right activist through who Mr Iloanya delivered the sum N1.5M to the Awkuzu SARS but nothing came forth. Till now, Mr Iloanya has not set eyes on his son nor his corpse. Mr Iloanya is calling on the Nigerian Police Force, NGOs and well meaning Nigerian to help him get justice for his son. He said, "I know that my son is dead, but i just want justice" Mr Illoanya can be reached on 08035501598. Listen to him Below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJgAwIdf90M Awkuzu is a town in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra state of Nigeria. https://www.news9naija.com.ng/2020/07/08/i-killed-your-son-and-nothing-will-happen-awkuzu-sars-oc-to-man-after-killing-son-video/ The Sister to the slain young man also gave account of the incident on Twitter. https://twitter.com/Ada_mummyya/status/1140000709649358848?s=19

End SARS: Popular Fuji musician, Saheed Osupa declares support, joins protest in Ibadan [PHOTO] on October 17, 2020 An Ibadan-born Fuji musician, Mr. Saheed Okunola also known as Saheed Osupa has declared his support for the ongoing call for the total eradication of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). Osupa, DAILY POST gathered, left his Lagos residence to join the protesters in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Friday. Our correspondent reports that Osupa was among the teeming youths that locked down Challenge area of Ibadan on Friday as the widespread protest against police brutality by Nigerian youths continues. The Fuji musician while speaking insisted that the protest was a sign that the country’s massive young population is now finding its voice. He added that this is the reason the youths were demanding reforms in the country. He said, “I am happy joining other youths, we are protesting for them to put an end to police brutality, it’s way beyond just ending SARS. “Even after they have announced it, there are several other things we are talking about”. Some of the protesting youths stand atop vehicles. They shouted slogans while others carried banners. Other protesters blocked the roads leading to Lagos from Challenge/ Ring Road, a development that led to a heavy gridlock several hours on Friday. Some of the protesters lamented how they had suffered unjust arrests from the SARS and had to cough out huge sums before they could be released from their custody |
