Police Arrest Musician, Small Doctor For Unlawful Possession Of Firearms

Small Doctor was arrested on allegations that he threatened a Police officer who was on traffic duty along Oshodi, Lagos.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Adekunle Temitope, popularly known as Small Doctor, for unlawful possession of firearms and for allegedly threatening to shoot a police officer.
 
Edgal Imohimi, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, revealed this to the press on Monday while parading the musician along with three other persons.
 
Small Doctor was arrested on allegations that he threatened a Police officer who was on traffic duty along Oshodi, Lagos.
 
“It was alleged that some unknown men, four of them, in an unregistered green SUV had brought out a gun and threatened a policeman that if he does not leave the road, they will shoot him,"  Imohimi said.
 

 
"Believing that they were armed robbers, I sent out my men and fortunately, with the DPO in charge of Shogunle division, they were able to intercept them and the men were arrested and were brought down to the headquarters for interrogation.

“It was then discovered that one of them is the same Adekunle Temitope, a.k.a. 'Small Doctor'. They were arrested in possession of a functional rifle, cartridge and some of their personal belongings."
 
According to the commissioner, 'Small Doctor' had earlier been involved in a similar offence and is currently under investigation for firing live ammunition at the Agege stadium after a show on November 27.
 
He said: “Adekunle Temitope, a.k.a. 'Small Doctor', was arrested and taken to the state CID for questioning. He was alleged to have fired a gun; the pellets from the gun injured four people who were rushed to the hospital.”
 
'Small Doctor' will be charged to court for prosecution.

Police Arraign Small Doctor In Magistrate Court In Ebute Meta, Lagos

The police have arraigned Adekunle Temitope, aka Small Doctor for unlawful possession of firearms.

A credible source at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, said the popular artiste was arraigned before an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s court.

Another source at the court confirmed the development.

The suspect had been paraded at the police command headquarters at Ikeja after he was arrested around Oshodi on Monday.

He was alleged to have threatened to open fire on a police officer before he was caught.

The state Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, said Small Doctor had in the past fired shots and injured four people.

He noted that the injured were admitted to a hospital and vowed that the artiste would be made to face the law.

Small Doctor recently created a controversy after singing at an event of the All Progressives Congress.

He had sung one of his hit tracks, ‘Ye ma sun (stop sleeping), which many said was targeted at the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

But the singer’s manager had denied the claims.

Small Doctor Faces 15 Years Jail Term


Police ambassador, Small Doctor might be spending over a decade behind bars if he is found guilty of illegally possessing fire arms and also threatening a police officer. 

Singer Small Doctor is in serious trouble and that's if he is found guilty of illegally possessing firearm.

The men of the Lagos State Police Command yesterday arrested the singer and three other accomplices for allegedly threatening to shoot a police officer.

Police also claim the singer will be prosecuted for a similar incident late November, when he fired pellets that injured four after a show at the Agege Stadium.

According to Section 3 of Nigeria's Firearm Act, which prohibits the possession or control of firearms, any person(s) found guilty shall be liable to a minimum sentence of ten years.

Section 4 of the same act, which restricts the possession or control of personal firearms, as well as Section 9 which restricts the possession or control of ammunition in respect of certain firearms, also state that anyone found guilty of violation is liable to serve jail term not exceeding five years.

Small Doctor who has had relative success in the music industry since he burst onto the scene few years ago will need to defend the allegations in court.

Police didn't say when the Agege-bred singer and his gang would make their first court appearance. Small Doctor and his friends have remained in police custody.

The young singer remains a police ambassador alongside other top music artistes in Lagos State.
