Footballer, Sergio Ramos to leave Real Madrid after 16 years
Ace footballer, Sergio Ramos will leave Real Madrid on Thursday after failing to agree on a new contract with the Spanish giants.
The Spanish defender, 35, has spent the last 16 years at Real. During that spell, he notched 101 goals in 671 appearances, winning four Champions League and five La Liga titles.
However, Ramos and Real have now called time on his period in the Spanish capital. Ramos will leave ahead of his contract expiring at the end of the month.
The defender who struggled for fitness over the last year, making just 15 appearances for Real in La Liga, also missed out on the Spain squad for Euro 2020, suggesting he has dipped down a level as he has gotten older.
In a statement, the club said: "Real Madrid CF announces that tomorrow, Thursday, June 17, at 12:30 pm, there will be an institutional act of tribute and farewell to our captain Sergio Ramos, with the presence of our president Florentino Pérez.
"Next, Sergio Ramos will appear before the media at a telematic press conference."

Rafa Benitez set to sign historic deal to become Everton's new manager this week
Rafa Benitez is set to sign a historic deal by signing a deal that will make him the first man in modern history to manage at both Liverpool and Everton.
The Spaniard is expected to sign his new contract in the next few days, with the club provisionally planning to confirm his arrival on Tuesday.
The 61-year-old will become the Toffees' fifth permanent manager after Carlo Ancelotti, who left Goodison Park to return to Real Madrid earlier this month.
Benitez's arrival will come 11 years after he left Anfield, where he spent six years as Liverpool manager, winning the Champions League and FA Cup.
The former Newcastle and Real Madrid manager was also Chelsea's interim coach for the majority of the 2012/13 season, winning the Europa League, before coaching Newcastle United for more than three years before leaving at the end of 2018/19 campaign.
According to Mail Online, Everton owner Farhad Moshiri is convinced that Benitez, who is considered among the most-iconic former Liverpool managers, is the best coach to take Everton into the Champions League despite backlash from Evertonians over his imminent appointment.

Rohr needs to shut up and do the work of his contract’- Sports Minister, Sunday Dare blasts Super Eagles coach
The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare has blasted Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr over his ''unfair treatment'' of players from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), urging him to focus on doing his work.
Since he took his role as the head coach, Rohr has been heavily criticized for not inviting home based players to the national team.
Rohr, 68 has relied mostly foreign players since he took charge as Nigeria’s national team coach and recently criticized the home based team that will face Mexico in an international friendly at the Los Angeles Coliseum this weekend.
Austin Eguavoen will be in charge of the home based team not Rohr and the Sports Minister has expressed his disappointment.
Rohr signed a new two-year contract last year, and part of the conditions in the deal is for him to include more domestic players in his plan.
But so far, only Enyimba’s Anayo Iwuala has played a part in recent Super Eagles games, with Rohr saying all of Nigeria’s best players are in Europe.
Dare expressed his disappointment with Rohr after he visited the home-based players at their Abuja camp ahead of the trip to the United States.
Dare urged the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to talk with Rohr regarding his behaviour towards NPFL players.
“Rohr’s attitude towards home-based players is unacceptable, it’s negative to our football development & I call on the NFF to call him (Rohr) to order,” Dare said.
“Rohr needs to shut up and do the work of his contract, he talks too much,” Dare concluded.

Ex-Chelsea manager tells Abramovich to sign Haaland even if it upsets Werner
on
July 7, 2021
Former Chelsea manager, Glenn Hoddle, has urged the club owner, Roman Abramovich, to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland this summer even if it costs Timo Werner a starting spot in Thomas Tuchel’s squad.
Chelsea has been linked with a transfer move for Haaland this summer.
Haaland has scored 57 goals in 59 games since arriving at Dortmund 18 months ago.
“Haaland is a different story, to be honest,” Hoddle said when speaking to Football London about replacing Timo Werner.
“If you can go and get him then you go and get him and worry about Werner and other players after. If you have the luxury of doing it then you do it.
“Werner is a strange one. I think there is one more season where I would not throw out the baby out with the bathwater because he is so close to scoring.”
He added, “At the end of the day there is a story behind the story with Werner, he could go somewhere if you let him go, he could go and score 25 goals and Chelsea fans and Chelsea are thinking no let us hope he can do it with us.”

Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that Sergio Ramos has joined the club from Real Madrid, Newspremises reports.
The 35 year-old Spanish defender will wear the number 4 shirt, the Ligue 1 side have revealed. It is reported to be a two year deal, but no news on the terms of the contract have been revealed.
The footballer has revealed his joy at the news. "I use the number 4 a lot out of superstition, because I had it from the start of my career, and then it has accompanied me throughout my life, continued me, brought good luck, and a lot of victories," he told 'PSGTV'.
"Now the number 4 is part of me as a person and as a professional. For me, it's a privilege to be able to wear this number at such a great team, Paris Saint-Germain. So I must be very special to be able to wear my number here in Paris," Ramos concluded.

Chelsea to pay £150m for Haaland
on
July 8, 2021
Chelsea are ready to offer Borussia Dortmund up to £150 million for Erling Haaland, according to 90min.
New Blues boss, Thomas Tuchel, is looking to bolster his attack ahead of his first full season in charge.
Tuchel had to endure the patchy form of Timo Werner in his first six months, having froze Tammy Abraham out of his team.
Haaland has scored 57 goals in 59 games since arriving at Dortmund 18 months ago.
However, the Bundesliga side will be very hesitant to part with the Norway striker, especially since Jadon Sancho just left to join Manchester United.
But Chelsea feel a high fee will tempt Dortmund into a sale.
