Obaseki: I Won't Appeal My Disqualification From Edo APC Primary
Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos
Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has said that he will not appeal his disqualification from participating in the governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) slated for June 22.
The governor in a statement by his media aide, Crusoe Osagie, said it is needless filing an appeal when the National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole has carefully orchestrated the move from the beginning.
While calling on his supporters to be calm, he urged them to wait for further directives.
“We have watched the mockery of democratic process, which Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, is administering and superintending over in our great party the All Progressives Congress (APC). It has been an unfortunate, disheartening and dreadful spectacle.
“We had initially asserted that going by the open display and enthronement of illegality by one man in the party that comprises several organs and eminent personalities, there is no way that Governor Godwin Obaseki would get a fair assessment in the run-up to the nomination of candidates to fly the flag of the party in the forthcoming Edo gubernatorial election.
“It is unfortunate that this open show of shame, illegality and travesty of justice is the brand of democracy which Comrade Oshiomhole has reduced the APC into. The situation is quite saddening because this is a party supposedly reputed for change, equity and social justice”
We have therefore decided that it would be effort in futility to appeal whatever the unjust outcome of the evaluation and screening process of the APC will be, especially when Comrade Oshiomhole has declared that he is the Supreme Court and ultimate determiner of the fate and future of our great party.
We wish Oshiomhole luck in his maladministration of the party and trust that the Almighty will help our country to find the path to true liberty, freedom and justice.
We call on all party members and the teeming supporters of Governor Obaseki to remain calm and await further directives.

''I wish Oshiomole well'' Godwin Obaseki reacts to APC's decision to disqualify him from Edo governorship race
Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki, has reacted to the decision of the APC to disqualify him from participating in the party's governorship primaries slated for June 22, 2020.
The chairman of the screening committee, Prof. Jonathan Ayuba, today announced that Obaseki and two others did not meet the requirement set by the APC to participate in the primaries.
Reacting to the development, Obaseki in a statement released by his spokesman, Crusoe Osagie, said he had initially mentioned that going by the manner in which activities leading to the primaries were being held, there was no way he would get a fair assessment in the run-up to the nomination of candidates to fly the flag of the party in the forthcoming Edo gubernatorial election.
He said it is unfortunate that this “open show of shame, illegality, and travesty of justice is the brand of democracy which Comrade Oshiomhole has reduced the APC to”.
The governor added that he will not be appealing the party's decision to disqualify him and wished Oshiomole well.
Quote:“We have therefore decided that it would be an effort in futility to appeal whatever the unjust outcome of the evaluation and screening process of the APC will be, especially when Comrade Oshiomhole has declared that he is the Supreme Court and ultimate determiner of the fate and future of our great party.
We wish Oshiomhole well in his maladministration of the party and trust that the Almighty will help our country to find the path to true liberty, freedom, and justice,” Obaseki said
Obaseki and Oshiomole have been in a running battle over who controls the affairs of the state. The state governorship election is slated for September 19, 2020.

Quote:FFK On Obaseki: 'One Of The Most Important Virtues In Life Is Loyalty'
One of the most important virtues in life is LOYALTY. Never bite the finger that fed you. Obaseki has learnt this lesson the hard way. I have known Oshiomole for years. He is a formidable adversary, a skillful fighter &a tough cookie. Obaseki could never have outmanouvered him.

Edo: Oyegun reacts to Obaseki’s disqualification from APC Primaries, blames Oshiomhole
June 12, 2020
Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, the immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has described the disqualification of Governor Obaseki as a ‘hatchet job’.
Recall that the APC screening panel had on Friday said Godwin Obaseki’s disqualification was due to a ‘defective certificate.
Reacting, a statement signed by Ray Morphy, Oyegun’s Public Affairs Adviser, said the disqualification was aimed at installing a stooge who will allow some people unfettered access to Edo State Treasury.
According to him, the disqualification is a clear indication that internal democracy has been murdered in APC.
He added that the party will suffer the consequences.
“I daresay that APC will suffer dire consequences in Edo state if this disqualification is not speedily reversed.
“As a matter of fact, Oshiomhole is indeed the one who is guilty of anti-party, not Obaseki. Oshiomhole is the one who is acting unconstitutionally not Obaseki. I hope that Oshiomhole will not go down in history as the undertaker of APC.”

Quote:Obaseki's Disqualification: Charles Idahosa Says APC Is Dead In Edo
Chief Charles Idahosa, a former Commissioner for Information in Edo state on Friday said the All Progressives Congress (APC) is dead in Edo state with the disqualification of Governor Godwin Obaseki from the party’s governorship primaries.
Speaking in a chat with Daily Independent, Idahosa said the governor’s disqualification by the APC Screening committee led by Prof. Jonathan Ayuba did not come to him and many of Obaseki’s as a surprise because Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the party’s National chairman has carefully planned and orchestrated it from the onset.
“It didn’t come to me and many of us who are supporters of Governor Godwin Obaseki as a surprise”.
” It is a hatchet job carried out by a stark illiterate who calls himself the National chairman of APC when in the real sense of it, he is not the National chairman. He has never respected the constitution of the party”.
“It is just unfortunate that I have always repeated the way the party hierarchy is allowing one man who doesn’t even have a primary six certificate to be bastardising the party through illegality”.
” I felt so sorry for APC. It was a charade and I’m happy that coincidentally, it happened on Democracy Day, June 12. On this day, we saw the exhibition of undemocratic actions by a man who doesn’t know his left from his right”.
“APC is dead and the undertaker to carry its corpse is Oshiomhole. Because you have hatred for one man and then you use your official power against him” .
