Nigeria and Chelsea wide player Victor Moses says it would be a ‘dream come true’ to win the 2017 CAF African Footballer of the Year Award.

Moses played an important part as Chelsea won the league last season and also helped the Super Eagles qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

It was certainly a big year for a player that was sent on a series of loan moves by Chelsea before finally settling in to a regular first team spot with the London club.

"It would be great to win an award and be the best in Africa. It would mean a lot to me. It is something I would keep for the rest of my life, and it would be like a dream come true. We will see the outcome!" Moses was quoted saying by the AfricanFootball website.

"I am very proud and delighted," the 26-year-old continued.

"It's been a great year for me so far. We won the league, we got to the FA Cup final. I really enjoyed the season last year and I'm very happy with how it went. I want to continue in that way.

"I must have done well! I have worked so hard to be among the nominees and I guess they saw that. I played a vital part in our league win, and I am pleased with the way things have been going recently."

Moses faces some stern challenges, however, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Gabon and Borussia Dortmund), Naby Keita (Guinea and RB Leipzig), Sadio Mane (Senegal and Liverpool) and Mohamed Salah (Egypt and Liverpool) the other nominees.

The winner of this year's award will be announced on 11 December.
