Many residents including a school teacher and eleven members of a family have been reportedly killed since Boko Hram terrorists invaded Geidam town, the headquarters of Geidam Local Government of Yobe State, on Friday evening, April 23.

Speaker of The Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) Yobe State Chapter, Amb. Usman Ibrahim Geidam, who shared photos of some of the victims, said many other residents were injured and properties razed since the invasion.

Quote:"Indeed, nothing one could do to escape death. However, I became weak enough over the recent tragedy and trauma that befall us, as is not going to be easy, one single family in my home town Geidam local government loosing 11 soul in the house. While fasting, people remain indoor for over 3days,"

"May the Almighty Allah grant the departed souls eternal rest, give the deceased family and all of us the fortitude to endure such a great loss. Ya Allah ya rahaman,ya rahim,ya Gafur, answer our call and enrich us with absolute peace in my home town Geidam, yobe and Nigeria at large." he wrote

Speaking exclusively to the Vanguard on Sunday, the Executive Chairman, Geidam Local Government, Hon Ali Kolo, alleged that thousands of his people are still trapped 72 hours since Boko Haram invaded the town.

He disclosed that the terrorists slaughtered two people on Sunday morning, April 25, including Kawuri Primary School Teacher, Mallam Baba Tazira. This is even as over 2,000 people who were displaced by the invasion are currently taking refuge in neighbouring Yunusari Local Government Area.

Kolo said since the Boko Haram invasion three days ago when he was away for official engagement, he couldn’t find his way to Geidam as the town is under the total control of Boko Haram.

He, however, denied military reports claiming that the attack have been repelled, insisting tha  the insurgents are the ones in charge of Geidam.

“As we speak, two of my people including a teacher at Kawuri Primary school, Mallam Baba Tazira, a Babur/Bura man have been slaughtered this morning. The teacher who has been a very dedicated staff was slaughtered in his official staff quarters behind the school, and this is in addition to dozens of my people who were killed, injured, displaced and missing since the three days invasion.” Kolo stated.

He, however, expressed shock over the military’s statement on Saturday, which was signed by the Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier Mohammed Yerima that ‘the attack has been repelled with 21 casualties from the side of the terrorists’.

The woman told BBC Hausa that an artillery which was thrown into her room, exploded and claimed her sister’s life. She said the deceased left behind a daughter who is few months old.

"We heard her crying for help, but we couldn’t do anything until she died. We could only rescue her baby and God so kind nothing has happened to her. I’m the one breast-feeding her now.”

She said 11 people died from the attack and that they are now living in the bush under tree, not knowing what future holds for them.

"She was just sitting outside but entered her room. We don’t know where it came from but the artillery was thrown directly into the room. We don’t even know whether it is from Soldiers or Boko Haram, only God knows," she narrated.

"We are now living under a tree just watching and thinking of our fate. We are tired of this life always living under threats. We lost our parents and many close relatives. What type of life is this?"

"We trekked to this place from the town just like animals. We were crying. We are in trouble and don’t even know what to do honestly. Even now that I’m talking to you someone helped us with the water to drink."
