Again, suspected herdsmen attack Benue community, butcher two residents - Edoman - 04-22-2021 Again, suspected herdsmen attack Benue community, butcher two residents on April 22, 2021 Gunmen suspected to be Fulani militia have again attacked Tse-Zoola community in Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State. DAILY POST gathered that the gunmen invaded the community early hours of Wednesday and butchered two residents. The eldest man in the community, Aho Zoola said the militia herdsmen, without any provocation, attacked the villagers on Wednesday and killed one Zaki Hyacinth Ajon and Benjamin Anakula. Meanwhile, the Governor of the State, Samuel Ortom, while returning from burial of one Mrs Bridget Mom, stopped his convoy when he noticed that an incident occurred in the area. According to Ortom’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Jimin Geoffrey, the governor asked the residents if they had clashed with the Fulani herders prior to the attack but Aho, the eldest man replied that the villagers have never had any issue with herdsmen even when their herds graze on their crops. The governor after sympathising with the villagers displaced from their homes assured them that he would do everything possible to get security agencies to the area. Chief Ajon and Anakula were hacked to death by the assailants in the early hours of Wednesday, April 21 in Tse Zoola community, Makurdi Local Government Area of the state. According to the eldest man in the community, Aho Zoola, the suspected Fulani militias, without any provocation, attacked the villagers at about 2: am, shot sporadically and killed Ajon and Anakula. When asked by Governor Samuel Ortom, if they had rustled the Fulani herds in the past, elder Aho replied in the negative, insisting that the villagers have never had any issue with the herdsmen even when their herds graze on their crops. The governor after sympathising with the villagers displaced from their homes assured them that he would do everything possible to get security agencies to the area. |
