Nigerian man arrested in India for duping women by posing as a doctor on Facebook - Edoman - 02-02-2021 Nigerian man arrested in India for duping women by posing as a doctor on Facebook Chhattisgarh Police have arrested a 35-year-old Nigerian man on charges of cheating women by posing as a doctor through a fake profile on Facebook.   The accused, Ignatius Chukwujekwu Naruka, who lives in Delhi, was arrested on Monday, February 1, 2021 and brought to Raipur.      Raipur Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar Yadav said that the accused has admitted to duping hundreds of women across India.   Yadav said the latest victim, who was duped of Rs 5 lakh (N2,605,859.66) lodged a complaint with the New Rajendra Nagar police station in Raipur that in December last year she became a friend with the accused on Facebook.    The Nigerian told the woman that he is a doctor and started interacting via mobile and WhatsApp calls. The accused told the gullible victim he had sent a parcel of gift items.   The man tricked the woman to part with Rs 5 lakh in the name of airport and foreign exchange immittances as well as other charges. She transferred the money into various account numbers of the accused, the officer said.   The victim realized she had been cheated when she found the accused had switched off his mobile phone after getting the money.   Based on a technical analysis of Facebook IDs, messages, mobile and WhatsApp and bank account numbers, the police traced the location of the accused and arrested him in Dwarka in Delhi.   Police recovered a laptop, four mobile phones, an ATM card, a PAN Card, a Driving License, a Passport and a pen drive from him.   The accused confessed that he has cheated hundreds of women all over India to the tune of lakhs of rupees, Yadav said.
