Yes I'm a black man and I live everyday proud that I am'- Marcus Rashford speaks out after receiving racist abuse on social media

Manchester United striker, Marcus Rashford has reacted to the racist abuse he has received on social media.

The England international is the latest high-profile Premier League player to be targeted by racists online, and his abuse came after he missed goalscoring opportunities in Manchester United's game against Arsenal on Saturday night, January 30.

This week, Manchester United called for social media companies to improve their monitoring of social media abuse after racists abused Axel Tuanzebe and Anthony Martial in the wake of the team's 2-1 defeat to Sheffield United in midweek.

Chelsea defender, Reece James also posted screenshots of abuse he received on Instagram, leading to his club releasing a statement condemning the attacks.

Marcus Rashford, MBE, 24, took to Twitter on Saturday night after his side's 0-0 draw against Arsenal to blast those who have targeted him, saying he will not dignify them by posting their racist comments online.

"Humanity and social media at its worst. Yes I’m a black man and I live every day proud that I am. No one, or no one comment, is going to make me feel any different. So sorry if you were looking for a strong reaction, you’re just simply not going to get it here," he wrote.

"I’m not sharing screenshots. It would be irresponsible to do so and as you can imagine there’s nothing original in them. I have beautiful children of all colours following me and they don’t need to read it. Beautiful colours that should only be celebrated."

United coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer joined in the condemnation of racists online, saying at a press conference after the match:

"It's just incredible we have these scenes still, this abuse in 2021.

"We've been campaigning for a long time now with the Premier League and I think it's working, but there are still some people that haven't got it.

"They hide behind social media, are anonymous and it's unacceptable, it's disgusting.

"The players and everyone we've spoken to, each other, and they're fine, to put it that way. They're not Manchester United fans when this happens. We're all standing behind every single one of our players."

[b]Lionel Messi's Monstrous €555 Million 3-Year Barcelona Contract [/b]

€555,237,619 contract [4 years].

- €138m per season fixed + variables.

- €115,225,000 as ‘renewal fee’ just for accepting the contract.

- €77,929,955 loyalty bonus.

Quote:Spanish newspaper El Mundo claims it has obtained a copy of Lionel Messi's Barcelona contract, saying figures confirm the star player's deal is the biggest in sports history.

According to the report, Messi would receive a maximum of €555,237,619 (US$673,919,105) over four seasons, if a series of conditions were met.

The contract was agreed in November 2017 and expires on June 30 this year, when Messi will leave Camp Nou if there is no agreement with the club over an extension.

Messi tried to leave Barcelona last summer, arguing that a clause in the deal allowed him to walk away for free, before eventually backing down.

The size of Barca's financial commitment to Messi, 33, is one of a number of deals that have left the club's accounts in a perilous position.

Their most recent set of accounts revealed that Barca's total debt is over a billion euros and player wages are responsible for almost three-quarters of the club's budget.

The El Mundo report which was released late on Saturday night -- said Messi's 30-page contract saw Barcelona agree to pay the forward €138,000,000 per season, including variables.

It included a signing-on bonus of €115,225,000 for accepting the renewal and a "loyalty" bonus of €77,929,955.

The newspaper claims that with five months still left to run on the deal, Messi has already earned €511,540,545.

The contract has coincided with Barcelona's decline as a force at the highest level in Europe.

Messi led the team to win La Liga in 2018 and 2019, but the Champions League has eluded them, being dramatically eliminated from the competition by Roma, Liverpool and Bayern Munich in successive seasons.

Those disappointments led Messi to attempt to force a departure in August 2020 in a move that shocked world football.

That was followed by the resignation of the president who agreed Messi's 2017 contract, Josep Maria Bartomeu, in October.

Club elections to choose a new president -- for whom resolving Messi's future will be high on the agenda -- were set for Jan. 24 but have been postponed until March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Solskjaer insists Arsenal draw gives Man Utd more Premier League title belief

[Image: image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fnews.livescore.c...=3840&q=75]

30 January 2021

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said Manchester United were given more belief in their Premier League ambitions after Saturday's 0-0 draw at Arsenal.

The Red Devils, three days on from a shock home defeat by Sheffield United, failed to take advantage of a weakened Gunners side as their winless run over Mikel Arteta's men stretched to five league games.

Alexandre Lacazette hit the crossbar with a free-kick but Edinson Cavani missed perhaps the best two chances of the match as United made it five consecutive league meetings with so-called big-six sides without scoring a goal.

The draw means Solskjaer's men are three points behind league leaders Manchester City, having played a game more, as their title aspirations took another blow.

Although manager Solskjaer was not interested in discussing their chances of becoming champions for the first time since 2012-13, he insisted his players will take heart from the game at Emirates Stadium.

"We don't think about the title race or the title now, we're in January," he said. "We're just focusing on getting back on the road.

"The disappointment on Wednesday was big, but today gives us more belief again because we feel we dominated and created enough big chances to win the game, [but] you can never control that result. The reaction and the approach to the game was good.

"Of course, you look at every game but you look at the games we played against Arsenal, Chelsea, City, Liverpool, we defend well, we don't really concede many chances. That's one foundation to play from. We need to take our chances and we know we have players to do that – we just haven't done it.

"We just want to keep on working with them on the training ground. Today, with the chances we had, we feel that we should have won it but then you have to score to win. Definitely, that's something I want my forwards to sort out, they've scored so many goals throughout their careers."

Cavani started the contest but could not convert two good chances in the second half that would have handed United all three points, the striker failing to record a shot on target.

"I just look at his movement and his cleverness in his movement and I know exactly how fine margins there are," Solskjaer said.

"You've got to open up your ankle a little bit on the first one as the goal is gaping, and the second one is just hit the ball a touch earlier so you can get your foot around it. That's half a centimetre on your foot and you have to do it so quickly.

"The big thing is that he's there on the end of all the chances, which is something I hope Mason [Greenwood], Anthony [Martial], Marcus [Rashford] look at him and learn from him."

The draw did at least allow United to set a new club record of 18 consecutive away league games without defeat.

"That's a great achievement by these players and the group," Solskjaer said. "They're working hard. When we travel in hotels, the mood is very good, they prepare well.

"It just shows how far we've come as well. Eighteen games is a long, long run and long may it continue. We hope to get some more wins, of course."

While signings before the transfer deadline are unlikely, United on Saturday recalled James Garner and Tahith Chong from loans at Watford and Werder Bremen and sent the youngsters to Nottingham Forest and Club Brugge, respectively.
Solskjaer does not expect any further loan exits, despite speculation Brandon Williams could be sent away for playing time.

"Brandon will stay," he said. "He's been working really hard and we don't have any other players that we think will be going. We need a strong squad; it's a relentless season.

"It's like the NBA: we're on the road again all the time, we need everyone and the group is tight and Brandon has been really good in the last few months, working really hard, and he's ready when the chance comes."

Inter 4-0 Benevento: Lukaku brace secures easy win

[Image: image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fnews.livescore.c...=3840&q=75]

30 January 2021,

Romelu Lukaku scored twice as Inter kept the pressure up on Serie A leaders Milan with a confident 4-0 home victory over Benevento on Saturday.

Antonio Conte's side took the lead through a Riccardo Improta own goal in the seventh minute and were never really troubled at San Siro.
Lautaro Martinez ended a run of four Serie A games without a goal with a fine finish for Inter's second as he took his tally against newly promoted teams to eight in 14 appearances.

Lukaku then wrapped up the points for Inter when he scored twice with clinical finishes after smart assists from Martinez and Alexis Sanchez.

Madrid will keep pushing for LaLiga title despite 'painful' loss, says Bettoni

[Image: image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fnews.livescore.c...=3840&q=75]

31 January 2021,

David Bettoni insisted Real Madrid would continue pushing for the LaLiga title despite a "painful" loss to Levante on Saturday.

Madrid suffered their third loss in four games in all competitions, beaten 2-1 by Levante after Roger Marti's 78th-minute winner.

Marco Asensio had given Madrid the lead despite Eder Militao's early red card, but Jose Luis Morales Nogales equalised and Marti – who missed a penalty – secured three points for Levante.

While Madrid are seven points behind rivals Atletico, who also have two games in hand, Bettoni – who took charge as Zinedine Zidane recovers from coronavirus – said the LaLiga giants would keep fighting.

"Real Madrid fans keep believing in their team because they know we're a side that will always fight until the end for all of the titles that we want to win," the assistant coach told a news conference.

"Especially in the second half where we were playing with 10 men against a very good Levante side, we were still playing well. We were pressing well despite being one man down. I think we could have won but we weren't able to.

"I can take nothing away from the attitude of the players. That's what we're sticking with today after the result. I think all Real Madrid fans would have seen the performance and can be pleased, but not with the result.

"It's obviously painful for us all but nothing can be questioned about the attitude of the team. We saw a team that fought until the end."

Before giving Levante the lead, Marti missed a penalty, meaning he has netted just one of his past three spot-kicks in LaLiga.

It was Militao's red card that proved costly, though, as the defender suffered the fastest sending off of a Madrid outfield player in LaLiga since at least the 2003-04 season.

With Madrid behind, star forward Karim Benzema was substituted with eight minutes remaining, and Bettoni said he wanted fresh legs.

"We made the change because we wanted to bring on Mariano [Diaz]. We wanted to make that change and we don't look at who the top scorer of the team is," he said.

"We have a very good squad, we have a very good second striker in Mariano. We wanted to bring him on to try and bring on fresh legs up front.
"He's very good in the air and he likes to fight for the ball, so we just wanted to change one striker for another, nothing more."

Tuchel: Premier League perfect for Havertz to realise almost endless potential

[Image: image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fnews.livescore.c...=3840&q=75]

31 January 2021,

Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel believes the Premier League is the perfect place for Kai Havertz to realise his "almost endless" potential.

Havertz, 21, is yet to hit top form for Chelsea after arriving from Bayer Leverkusen for a reported initial fee of £62million in September.

The Germany international starred in the previous two Bundesliga seasons, scoring 29 goals and providing nine assists in 64 games.

Tuchel, who replaced Frank Lampard at the helm of Chelsea earlier this month, praised Havertz for making the move to the Premier League – and he said the playmaker had immense talent.

"His potential is endless, almost endless. It is a challenge for him, and I think he made a very brave choice, you have to understand,” he said.

"I am a huge fan of Bayer Leverkusen in terms of how they have developed as a club over years and years and what players they developed and what quality of football they play.

"But you come from Leverkusen to Chelsea, the culture cannot be any more different. A club where it is OK to maybe be second or third best, to reach the top four and repeat for this on a very high level.

Then you go to a club where they talk about trophies and winning titles, it is so open, there is a certain atmosphere like at Bayern Munich they do this every year, they demand titles, titles and more titles and it does something to a club in the atmosphere.

"So that means that Kai has stopped not just to a different country, not only to a different club, not only different team-mates, itself it's already complicated, he even changes his culture and club environment in a dramatic way.

"And I love it because he is so far out of his comfort zone."

In 17 Premier League games this season, Havertz has one goal and two assists for 10th-placed Chelsea.

But Tuchel, whose side host Burnley on Sunday, believes the midfielder is in the perfect league to realise his potential.

"He seems to be like the guy who needs to be pushed and we will not stop doing it," he said.
"For him, this league is perfect because he cannot rest and he has so much potential that he needs to be challenged physically also, that it is not enough that he can rely on his endless talent."

Chelsea 2-0 Burnley: Azpilicueta and Alonso earn Tuchel first win

[Image: image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fnews.livescore.c...=3840&q=75]

31 January 2021,

Thomas Tuchel registered his first Premier League win as Chelsea head coach after a 2-0 victory over Burnley at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Cesar Azpilicueta put the Blues ahead shortly before half-time with a crisp finish as Tuchel's side dominated proceedings, assuaging the frustrations of Wednesday's 0-0 draw with Wolves.

Marcos Alonso added a second late on when he spectacularly hooked the ball home after being restored to the side.

Burnley offered little threat at the other end, with Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy spared any attempt at his goal until deep into stoppage time.
The win lifts the hosts up to seventh, four points shy of the top four, with Sean Dyche's side staying 16th.

Chelsea showed the early initiative as they directed much of their attacking play through the lively Hudson-Odoi.

Mason Mount lifted a shot over the crossbar as Chelsea registered five attempts in the first 15 minutes but without really testing Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope.

Timo Werner got his feet into a tangle when the ball dropped for him in the box on the half-hour mark, while Marcos Alonso should have done better with a header from a promising position.

Chelsea's persistence was rewarded five minutes before half-time as Azpilicueta burst forward from defence to receive a pass on the overlap from Hudson-Odoi and strike an angled shot high into the net.

It was Azpilicueta's first goal in the Premier League since scoring against Arsenal in January 2020.
Tuchel replaced Tammy Abraham with Christian Pulisic at half-time as he moved Werner into a central position, but it was Hudson-Odoi who was the main threat.

The 20-year-old winger hit the post with a deflected shot and then shortly afterwards teased a low cross into the six-yard box which Pope kept out after James Tarkowski almost turned the ball into his own net.

Hudson-Odoi skimmed Erik Pieters again with 20 minutes left but Pulisic swept the ball wide from a good position, while Pope saved well from Reece James' low shot.

Alonso wrapped up the points six minutes from time when he controlled Pulisic's cross and acrobatically whipped the ball past Pope, with Burnley's only effort coming from Tarkowski's last-gasp header over the top.

Key Opta Facts
- Chelsea have secured four consecutive wins in all competitions against Burnley for the first time since December 1982.

- Burnley have failed to score in seven of their last nine away Premier League games, netting only two goals in the process.

- Thomas Tuchel is the first Chelsea boss to keep a clean sheet in each of his first two Premier League games in charge since Rafael Benitez in November 2012.

- Chelsea have lost one of their 14 Premier League games against Burnley (W10 D3), losing 2-3 on the opening day of the 2017-18 season at Stamford Bridge as reigning champions.

- Burnley's first shot of the game did not arrive until 94th minute – their longest wait for their first shot of a single Premier League game.

Chelsea striker Werner still 'confident' despite goal drought, claims Tuchel

[Image: image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fnews.livescore.c...=3840&q=75]

31 January 2021,

Timo Werner is not lacking in confidence despite his Chelsea goal drought, according to head coach Thomas Tuchel.

Werner arrived at Stamford Bridge with a reputation as a prolific goalscorer following his move from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig
But the Germany international has scored just four times in 20 Premier League appearances, with his blank in Sunday's 2-0 win over Burnley stretching his barren run to 12 top-flight games.

The 24-year-old managed three shots on target against the Clarets – more than any other player – and had more touches inside the opposition penalty area (nine) than anyone else.

Despite another scoreless outing, Tuchel has no doubts over Werner's self-belief.
"He is totally into it, he gives everything," Tuchel explained.

"You can see, like every striker in the world, these guys are sensitive and nothing helps better than goals.

"If they miss the goals for a certain time then it isn't the same for them, it is not special to Timo, it happens with every striker in the world.

"He was confident to play but that is something you cannot demand, you either have it or you don't. But it is no problem, maybe he just needs to find an easy goal to bring out the last per cent."

Tuchel acknowledged Chelsea might have to adapt their system to the best out of Werner.
"We need to improve to bring him into situations to be decisive for us," added Tuchel.

"As long as he has the impact, works like he worked today, we will support him. We missed some chances to use him in counter-attacks which is his big strength, he has pure speed."

Goals from Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso secured the points for Chelsea but the standout performer for the Blues was Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The winger produced more crosses (six) than any other player in an attacking display full of swagger.

Tuchel said he already knew of the 20-year-old's quality before he took over from Frank Lampard and hopes Odoi can help spark Werner and his fellow strikers into life in front of goal.

"There were big rumours around him and Bayern Munich but he was in the focus way before I ever thought about being his manager," Tuchel added.
"He had another good game, if we can improve the precision of our guys in the box then maybe we can score more goals.

"He can have his input on the line, he has the ability to be decisive with his runs, his speed and at the moment we have opted for this structure."

Former Arsenal Star Mesut Ozil mocks Piers Morgan and the TV host responds

32-year-old Turkish-born German midfielder, Mesut Ozil has reignited his heated rivalry with show host Piers Morgan following his move from Arsenal to Fenerbahce.

Morgan who been one of Ozil's biggest critics during the latter days of his eight-year spell in north London, has continously described him as  'massively overpaid, massively under-performing & 'having a shockingly overinflated sense of his own importance.'

Despite his move to Fenerbahce, Ozil hasn't forgotten about the Good Morning Britain co-presenter and took a swipe at him on Twitter. The former Germany international tweeted a picture of himself with 'Poop on Piers' toilet paper, saying he took it from London to Istanbul to 'remind him of Morgan.'

He tweeted;

Quote:"Piers, I took this with me from London to Istanbul to remind me of you! Although you probably knew that already before..."

Morgan wasted no time in responding to Ozil and told the former Real Madrid star he is "full of cr*p."

The show host tweeted;

Quote:"Mesut, you're full of cr*p, so I'm glad to be of much-needed use."

During his time at Arsenal, Ozil made 184 appearances and had a hand in 87 goals. He scored 33 times and contributed 54 assists.

Despite his obvious class he has found game time limited over the last few season due to a series of on-and-off the field problems. His move to Fenerbahce has not been without controversy either, with his new club aiming to fund the move via a crowdfunding campaign.

Quote:Neymar To Extend Stay At PSG, Wants Mbappe To Do The Same

Brazil forward Neymar wants to extend Paris Saint-Germain contract and urges Kylian Mbappe to do the same; "I want to stay at PSG, and I hope Kylian will stay too. We want PSG to be a great team"; PSG suffered shock defeat to Lorient on Sunday

Neymar has openly confirmed his desire to stay at Paris Saint-Germain and extend his contract, and hopes that Kylian Mbappe will do the same.

The Brazilian forward has been in talks with the club to extend his stay at the Parc des Princes, which is currently due to expire next year.

Neymar's time at PSG has not always been idyllic, with the club's fans publicly telling him to leave after he handed in a transfer request in the summer of 2019 and reported back late for pre-season training.

But in an interview with TF1, he looked determined to put the ups and downs of the past behind him and excel under new manager Mauricio Pochettino alongside Kylian Mbappe.

"I am very happy today," he said. "I feel happy. Things have changed a lot, I can't exactly explain why - if it's just me, or something else has changed.

"But today, I am feeling good. I have adapted. I feel calmer and I'm very happy here. I want to stay at PSG, and I hope Kylian will stay too. Of course, that is the wish of every PSG supporter.

"We want PSG to be a great team, and I want to continue doing what I've done every day in Paris - play football and be happy. That is the most important thing."

The winter transfer window closes at 11pm on Monday, February 1, and Sky Sports will bring you all the drama as clubs scramble to get the final pieces of business over the line.

EPL: Referees admit they made two mistakes for Man Utd’s 2-1 defeat to Sheffield
on
 February 1, 2021

Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, says authorities contacted him to say they were at the end of two wrong calls during the clubs’ 2-1 defeat to Sheffield United.

Solskjaer claims the refereeing body PGMOL wrote a match report, in which it stated that Kean Bryan’s opener for Sheffield should have been cancelled for a foul on goalkeeper David De Gea.
Also, Anthony Martial’s goal should have been allowed to stand.

“The momentum shifted for us with the Sheffield United game but I’ve got the delegates’ report from the ref and the two decisions were wrong,” Solskjaer told a news conference on Monday.

“They’ve admitted their goal should have been disallowed and our goal should have stood. That’s a big, big momentum changer for us. When you go 1-0 up rather than 1-0 down, go on and win that game.”

United followed up their shock loss to Sheffield with a goalless draw at Arsenal on Saturday.

Solskjaer’s men will host Southampton on Tuesday.

Chelsea billionaire owner, Roman Abramovich has written a message of support to his player Reece James and the first-team players after the right-back was racially abused on social media.

The Russian, 54, who hardly makes public statements has made the rare move stating he will increase funding to help the club tackle racial discrimination.

James is one of several players to receive racist abuse on social media recently.

Last week, West Brom contacted the police over an alleged racist message sent to midfielder Romaine Sawyers.

Also Manchester United players Axel Tuanzebe, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial were also racially abused on social media after last Wednesday's home defeat by Sheffield United.

Abrahomich is now throwing his weight behind his players.
"I am appalled by the racist abuse targeted at Reece on social media," wrote Abramovich in the letter addressed to all Chelsea players.

"We cannot allow this to continue unchecked."

Abramovich added: "I know that several of our players have been the targets of hate and discrimination on social media.

"It shocks me that only days after we commemorated Holocaust Memorial Day, we as a society do not seem to have learned the lessons of our shared past and the consequences that hate and discrimination can have.

"I have directed the board to further increase the club's efforts in this area and I will personally direct more funds towards this important work. We will be setting out our actions as a club in the coming days."
