Barcelona wantaway star, Luis Suarez faces fraud allegation after being accused of cheating in his Italian test to secure a move to Juventus

Barcelona wantaway star, Luis Suarez is reportedly facing fraud allegations after being accused of cheating in his Italian exam to secure a move to Juventus.

After being told he was surplus to requirements at Barcelona by new manager Ronald Koeman, Suarez wanted to join Juventus.

The Uruguay international was required to take an Italian exam in order to gain an Italian passport as he was eligible for one because his wife has Italian ancestors.

He reportedly took the B1 Italian language test in Perugia last week.

But reports in Italy have now claimed that Suarez is under investigation over allegations he cheated on the test after irregularities were found .

According to La Repubblica, Suarez was sent the questions in advance and passed the Italian language (B1 level) exam having already been told the answers, with an investigation by the Guardia di Finanza now underway.

Repubblica carried quotes from an official on Monday September 21, who said: 'He does not speak a word of Italian. He does not conjugate verbs, he only speaks using the infinitive. If journalists would ask him some questions, he'd be lost. He earns €10million a year, he needs to pass this exam.'

The police are now said to be acquiring documentation from the University of Perugia, where Suarez's test took place, and the player risks heavy legal action by the Public Prosecutor of Perugia.

In a statement from the Prosecutor, it was explained: 'During the investigations delegated since February 2020 to the Economic and Financial Police Unit of the Guardia di Finanza of Perugia, irregularities in the test of certification of the Italian language, carried out on 17 September last, by the Uruguayan footballer Luis Alberto Suarez Diaz.

'From the investigative activities it was found that the exam topics were previously agreed with the candidate and that the relative score was attributed even before the oral test was carried out, although it was found during the distance lessons held by the University teachers an elementary knowledge of the Italian language.

'Today, the soldiers of the Guardia di Finanza are proceeding with documentary acquisitions at the University offices as well as the notification of guarantee information for the crimes of disclosure of office secrets, ideological falsehood committed by the public official in public acts.'

However, Suarez will no longer join Juventus as the deal has now collapsed.

They should be kissing the floor he walks on’ - Gareth Bale’s agent hits out at Real Madrid after sealing Tottenham switch

New Tottenham signing, Gareth Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, has hit out at Real Madrid over the way his client was treated during the 7 years he spent in the Spanish capital.

Bale on Saturday completed his loan move back to north London, signing for the club he left seven years ago when he joined Madrid.

It was at Spurs where Bale made his name, earning a then world record transfer to the Bernabeu where he won four Champions league titles.

According to his agent, Bale never earned the true respect of the Real Madrid faithful – and his Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, never liked him as he cast him out of the first-team set-up last season.

Barnett believes the new Spurs signing has done no wrong during his time in the Spanish capital claiming in a Tuesday interview with talkSPORT that Real Madrid ‘should be kissing the floor Bale walks on’.

“I’ve been his agent since he was a very young boy, and I am so proud of him.
“Not just for his achievements and everything else, but because he has become a great man. He’s never said anything wrong, he’s never done anything… his life has been exemplary really.

“When he came here one of the newspapers started writing articles about his family and his wife’s family in the papers – that is scandalous.

“This country should be very proud of him, Great Britain should be very proud of him. Stop knocking him and write what he’s done and what he’s achieved.

“It’s very annoying, and it’s the same with Real Madrid and what he’s achieved for them.
“They should be kissing the floor he walks on.”

Barnett also revealed that Bale could sign a permanent deal with Tottenham once his loan deal ends.

Barnet added: “It was a build up of clash of personalities, a build up of not being supported, it was many different things.
“For somebody who has done as well as he has for Real Madrid, he didn’t get the respect he deserved and that was a big problem.

“For seven years everybody’s been saying Gareth Bale doesn’t speak Spanish – Gareth Bale speaks Spanish! Everybody’s been saying Gareth Bale doesn’t care about football – Gareth Bale loves football, he’s never fallen out with football.

“He may have fallen out with other things, but not playing football, and I hope back at Tottenham people will realise and stop talking complete and utter rubbish.

Bale recently angered Spurs fans when he celebrated on international duty with a flag reading ‘Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order’, but his agent has dismissed the antics.
“As for golf, that’s complete rubbish. A lot has been written in the British press and the Spanish press about Gareth Bale that is so inaccurate it’s criminal.

“He’s still a Real Madrid player, so I wont say any more. Read the book in a few years’ time…

“But what I will say is he’s got nothing to prove [at Tottenham], just look at how successful he’s been. He’s won everything he possibly could have won, except for the World Cup, and that’s a bit difficult with Wales!

“Also, he’s one of the world’s greatest players, so he’s got nothing to prove, he’s proven everything that he wants to.”

Wolves have completed the signing of Barcelona right-back Nelson Semedo for a club-record fee that could rise to £37million.

The Premier League club announced the deal on Twitter on Wednesday September 23, that the 26-year-old Portuguese defender has signed a deal that will keep him at Molineux until June 2023, with an option to extend it to June 2025.

Speaking to the club's official website after the move was completed, Semedo said: 'I chose Wolves because it’s a very good team that plays very good football. Last year they did a very good season and it’s a very important team in England, in also Europe. I hope this year we can do very good things.

'Coach Nuno is a very good coach. He did very good things here in Wolves, and in other teams too. For sure I’m going to learn a lot from him.

'The team did very good things the last three years. I’m ambitious and I hope this year we can do very good things, reach the top six and, if it’s possible, do something special.

'I’m very happy to be here. I’m excited to get started and thank you very much for your support and we’re going to enjoy it together.'

Wolves executive chairman Jeff Shi said: "'Progressive at heart' is one of our core values at Wolves. For a member of staff, for a player, for the whole club, we are all making great efforts to progress continuously.

"It's isn't often that we have the opportunity to sign a world-class player from a world-class club. Nelson's signing shows we will never stop progressing and we are still hungry and humble in our heart."

Semedo's arrival takes Wolves' summer spending to the £84m mark, after the arrivals of Fabio Silva, Fernando Marcal, Vitor Ferreira and Ki-Jana Hoever.

At Barcelona, he won two La Liga titles and the Cope del Rey following his move to Barcelona from Benfica in 2017, played 42 times for Barcelona last season.

Alex Iwobi is hoping to give Everton manager, Carlo Ancelotti, ‘a migraine’ as he seeks regular playing time this season.

The Super Eagles star started his first game of the season, as the Toffees crushed Fleetwood Town 5-2 in a Carabao Cup third round game on Wednesday night.
Iwobi played the entire 90 minutes, scoring once and providing an assist.

After the game at Highbury Stadium, the 24-year-old assessed Everton’s overall performance as he targets more opportunities in Carlo Ancelotti’s team this term.

“It was good experience for me to get 90 minutes under my belt as I’m trying to get fit for all competitions so it was good for the manager to give me the opportunity today.

Carabao Cup: Havertz speaks on scoring hat-trick in Chelsea’s 6-0 win over Barnsley

Kai Havertz has expressed his delight after scoring his first professional hat-trick, as Chelsea thrashed Barnsley 6-0 in the Carabao Cup third round on Wednesday night.

The German international also said he was impressed by the performance of fellow attacker Tammy Abraham.

The pair linked up well, as Havertz netted his first Chelsea goals, with Abraham opening scoring at Stamford Bridge.

Ross Barkley, who was assisted by Havertz, and Olivier Giroud – who was assisted by Chelsea debutant Ben Chilwell – also grabbed a goal, as the Blues progressed.

“I’m very happy to score my first hat-trick here at Chelsea.

“I’m very happy about the win and happy about my three goals and hope we continue like that,” Havertz said after the game.

On Abraham’s role in his performance, Havertz added: “I think he’s a very, very good striker and I think our partnership on the pitch was very good.
“It was our first game together but I like him very much as a striker. For me as a No. 10 it’s very good to play with him.”

Messi And Ronaldo Omitted From Uefa Men’s Poty Nominations

It's the first time in a decade that neither has been nominated for the award

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have been omitted from the nominations for the UEFA Men's Player of the Year awards.

For the first time in 10 years, the two greatest players of the modern game do not appear on the shortlist for the awards, for which Kevin De Bruyne and Robert Lewandowski are considered favourites to win.

Despite their confirmed places in the pantheon of the greats, few could argue with the decision not to nominate Messi and Ronaldo after the 2019/20 season. While Ronaldo did help Juventus to win yet another Serie A title, both Juve and Barcelona were eliminated from the Champions League before the latter stages.

While both Ronaldo and Messi bagged a rather disappointing three goals apiece in eight Champions League matches, Lewandowski scored 15 on his way to helping Bayern Munich win the competition.

The final player on the three-man shortlist is Lewandowski's Munich teammate Manuel Neuer, who enjoyed a stellar run of performances in the truncated knockout stage of the Champions League in Lisbon.

He made a number of key saves in the final against Paris Saint-Germain as his side defeated the Ligue 1 giants 2-0.

Frank de Boer named new coach of Netherlands after Ronald Koeman joined Barcelona

Former Ajax coach, Frank de Boer has been appointed as the new Netherlands head coach, the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed on Wednesday night, September 23.

His appointment comes after Ronald Koeman left his Netherlands post last month to take over at Barcelona .

De Boer, who made 112 Netherlands appearances and played at two World Cups for his country, has signed a two-year deal.

De Boer, 50, led Ajax to four straight Eredivisie titles between 2011 and 2014 but his 85-days as coach of Inter was a failure.

He then joined Crystal palace but stayed for 10 weeks after Palace lost their first four Premier League games of the season, failing to score a single goal in the process.

De Boer will be thrust quickly into his new job with a friendly against Mexico and two Nations League games early next month. The Netherlands host the Mexicans in Amsterdam on October 7 before travelling to Bosnia on October 11 and Italy on October 14.

Bayern Munich beat Sevilla to win UEFA Super Cup (Photos)

Bayern Munich are winners of the UEFA Super Cup after beating Sevilla 2-1 in Budapest late Thursday night, September 24.

The relentless Bayern added another trophy to the Champions League it won last month and extended its run of straight wins to 23 games, but the Germs club was tested to the limit by the Europe League holders, Sevilla.

Lucas Ocampos had given Sevilla the lead from a penalty in the 13th minute, but the bayern equalized, courtesy of a Leon Goretzka strike in the 34th minute.

After much tactical battles between both sides in the second half and a string of substitutions that failed to have the desired effect, it had to take goal from Javi Henandez at the104th minute, to gift the 2020 UEFA Champions League winners the victory.

Lionel Messi blasts Barcelona for 'throwing' Luis Suárez out of the club

Lionel Messi has launched a fresh attack on Barcelona’s hierarchy for the way the club treated his close friend Luis Suárez after the striker left for rival club, Atlético Madrid.

The Argentine playmaker, who threatened to leave Barça last month and recently hit out at the club's president Josep Maria Bartomeu’s leadership, said Suárez was harshly treated and 'thrown out' of the club.

In an emotional goodbye post dedicated to Suarez, the club’s third-highest scorer of all time, Messi wrote: “I had already begun to imagine it but today I went into the dressing room and it truly dawned on me. It’s going to be so difficult to not continue to share every day with you both on the pitches and away from them.

“We’re going to miss you so much. We spent many years together, many mates, many lunches and many dinners. So many things we will never forget, all the time we spent together.

“It will be strange to see you in another shirt and much more to come up against you on the pitch. You deserved a farewell that fit with who you are: one of the most important players in the history of the club. Someone who achieved great things for the team and on an individual level.

“You did not deserve for them to throw you out like they did. But the truth is that at this stage nothing surprises me anymore.”

On Thursday, an emotional Suarez said his goodbye to Barcelona and paid tribute to Messi after sealing a switch to Atletico Madrid. The Uruguay international had previously made it clear that he wanted to stay and see out his contract but was told by Barca's new coach Ronald Koeman that his playing days were over at the club.

Suarez helped the club win four LaLiga titles, four Copa del Rey crowns, and the Champions League in 2015. He scored 195 goals and provided 113 assists in 283 outings for the club before his exit.

Leicester City coach, Brendan Rodgers has confirmed midfielder Wilfred Ndidi will undergo surgery on an abductor injury that is expected to keep him sidelined for 12 weeks.

The Nigeria international sustained the injury during the Leicester's 4-2 win over Burnley last Sunday.

"That [surgery] will take probably place tomorrow morning," Rodgers told the media on Friday ahead of Sunday’s fixture with Manchester City.

"It’s just unfortunate, it’s come right off the bone, so he’s going to be up to 12 weeks we think. He’s a huge player for us.

"It’s something that showed his mentality against Burnley [because] he felt it. Towards the end of last season, he felt some pain there and he felt it late on in the Burnley game.

"I’m sure he’ll make a really good recovery and we’ll welcome him back when he comes back, but there’s no doubt he’s a miss.”

French defensive midfielder, Nampalys Mendy will continue in the holding midfield role in Ndidi’s absence.

"We have players capable of stepping in. Papy [Mendy] signed a new contract in the summer and has started the season very well,” he continued.

"Hamza [Choudhury] was excellent against Arsenal, he really covered the ground and was defensively very good, so we have enough cover in that position."

EPL: Arsenal legend blasts Chelsea’s defence, tells Lampard what to do

on
 September 26, 2020
[Image: Lampard3.jpeg]

Arsenal legend, Martin Keown, has labelled Chelsea’s defence as a ‘disgrace’.

Keown also advised Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard, to reinstate Antonio Rudiger in the first team to partner with Thiago Silva, adding that the German is currently the Blues’ best defender.

He stated this ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash with West Brom on Saturday evening.

Chelsea have won two of their first three games this season but were beaten 2-0 against Liverpool in the Premier League last weekend, with defender Andreas Christensen shown a straight red card during the encounter.

“The goals they [Chelsea] concede…they do not seem to know how to mark properly from crosses,” Keown told talkSPORT.

“Their defence is a disgrace. Silva comes in, maybe he resolves that. Maybe Rudiger actually is the best defender, and he will perform better with somebody alongside him who will tell him how to craft, how to mark from crosses.

“There are elements of their team at the back that are not quite right, defending’s gone out the window, by the way, in the Premier League at the moment.

“I think Rudiger [should play], I know he has problems from set-pieces, but they all do.

“Zouma’s maybe a better header of the ball, but Zouma is prone to mistakes. I think Rudiger is the best defender, tie him down with Silva, that is the long-term partnership, for me.

“But it looks like Rudiger is going out the door, so it is all opinions.

English Premier League: Tammy Abraham helps Chelsea snatch dramatic 3-3 comeback against West Brom (match recap/photos)

Chelsea football club were almost humiliated by West Brom on Saturday night in the English Premier league until British/Nigerian striker Tammy Abraham scored in stoppage time to secure a 3-3 draw despite being 3-0 down at half time.

West Brom, well organised and clinical, showed Chelsea how defensively poor Frank Lampard's boys were in the first half as Callum Robinson struck twice before Kyle Bartley scored a well worked third goal for West Brom.

In contrast, Chelsea wh took their spending on new players for the season beyond £200m, secured the draw through efforts from homegrown youngsters Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Abraham.

Chelsea started the match with new signing Thiago Silva but that didnt stop West Brom from taking the lead after just four minutes.

Marcos Alonso headed the ball straight to Matheus Pereira, who slipped a clever pass through to Robinson, who fired a shot from the left-hand corner of the area through Reece James’ legs and beyond Cabellero to score the first goal

Alonso’s poor start continued two minutes later when he pulled back Semi Ajayi and got a booking .
Chelsea tried to equalize but their finishing was poor, with Abraham and Timo Werner missing lots of chances.
For the second goal new signing Thiago Silva inexplicably lost control of the ball in his own half, allowing Robinson to pounce on it and run through on goal before finishing emphatically.

Bilic’s side made it 3-0 before the half-hour thanks to a cleverly-worked corner kick that culminated with unmarked Bartley guiding the ball into the net from six yards.

In the second half, César Azpilicueta was introduced alongside Callum Hudson-Odoi and coach Lampard adjusted the team’s shape from a 4-2-3-1 to a 4-3-3.

At the 55th minute, Mount scored through a swerving shot from 25 yards that went past Johnstone .

Chelsea's Havertz, then played a one-two with Hudson-Odoi, who finished smartly for the second goal.

Lampard then brought in Olivier Giroud and switched to a back three.

West Brom almost escaped with three points but were denied in stoppage time when Johnstone could only push out Mount’s shot to his right, leaving Abraham with a simple finish to end the match at 3-3.
