REKINDLE NIGERIA!!! By Darey - Tonyagbator - 10-01-2017

We used to sing 'Nigeria We Hail Thee',
That was when we were healthy.
And had basic necessities of life,
No threats from Boko, no strife.
The Naira greater than the Dollar,
Innocent men free from slammer.

But because corruption played the cast,
Poverty finally hits at last.
Now the embers are gone, no fire,
Charred remains left, no flicker.
It's time to rekindle!!!
Rekindle the old flame people.

Because...
Imprisonment in dungeons does not fit us,
Knowing a dark world like the unborn foetus.
Blinded to progress and foresight,
In dark tunnels we see no light.
Possessing but unable to use the eyes,
Fallen by life's stumps, unable to rise.
Living by the bank of the Nile,
But to get a drink trekking a mile.
Suffering in the midst of plenty,
Fetching water with a basket, still empty.

We yearn to unclad our raiments of shame,
Waiting for the proclamation of our fame.
When we'll breathe the fragrance from our cocoa,
And hear no more bombings from Boko.
The northerner eating south's plantain and owo,
Southerners feeding on the north's tuwo.
A country with love and harmony reigning,
And forever, a Nigeria thriving.

*HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY*
