Media reports had it that the Minister was amongst the passengers on an Abuja-Kaduna train that was attacked by suspected kidnappers. According to the report, the kidnappers laid in ambush around Mando area and attempted to waylay the passengers who arrived at Rigasa train station around 8:15pm. Passengers on the train alleged that the Minister was also on the train and that the situation was saved by the mobile policemen attached to the Minister who quickly dispersed the suspected kidnappers.

Reacting to the news, the Minister via his Twiter handle, described the report as fake news and that it was completely concocted.

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has called for regulation of social media aafter denying an alleged attack against him at Rigasa Train Station in Kaduna.

Recall that the former Governor of Rivers State was enmeshed in a heated exchange this morning after Bring Back Our Girls Campaign activist, Aisha Yesufu insisted that he fled after allegedly being attacked by bandits.

In an interview with Channels Television today February 17, Amaechi wondered why people are delibrately working to bring down the government. He expressed hope of everything getting better when social media is regulated.

He said;

Quote:“This so-called social media, the earlier they start regulating it, the better.
“We either start regulating this or there are people who deliberately want to bring down the government, and I don’t know what they want to achieve by that, is it that the government can’t protect its own minister?"

Amaechi averred that there was no incident of shooting or attempted kidnap of him or anyone at the train station.

He added;

Quote:“Most of these stories we hear are not true, they had earlier on said there was an attack on passengers on the same Rigasa, I had to tell NRC to make a rejoinder because there was none.”
