Buhari is clamping down on critics of his policies or perceived marginalization - Fem - Edoman - 08-05-2019 Buhari is clamping down on critics of his policies or perceived marginalization - Femi Falana speaks on Sowore's arrest Femi Falana has accused President Buhari of clamping down on individuals and organizations that are critical of his official policies or perceived marginalisation, in a statement he released in reaction to the arrest of Omoyele Sowore by the Department of State Services (DSS). LIB reported that the former Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) was arrested at his Ikeja home on Saturday August 3, over a 'Revolution' protest scheduled for today August 5. Accusing the Police of capitalizing on the use of the word “revolution” to criminalise the protests, Femi Falana questioned why leaders of the APC were not charged for claiming to have carried out Nigeria’s democratic revolution which terminated the 16-year rule of the PDP in 2015. Quote:The statement reads: “No doubt, the Nigeria Police Force has capitalized on the use of the word “revolution” to criminalise the protests. If revolution has become a criminal offence in Nigeria why were the leaders of the APC not charged for claiming to have carried out Nigeria’s democratic revolution which terminated the 16-year rule of the PDP in 2015? by Linda Ikeji at |
