Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has appointed 59-year old Earl Osaro Onaiwu his liaison officer on state matters.
The appointment was announced in a statement by Mr Saraki’s media aide, Yusuph Olaniyonu, on Tuesday.
The short statement described Mr Onaiwu as an experienced politician.
“Onaiwu, an experienced politician and public administrator will help to co-ordinate relationship between the Office of the Senate President and the various state governments across the country,” the statement reads.
The senate recently defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress and has faced calls from the party to step down from his position.
Mr Saraki has rejected such calls.
