Joyous French football fans have gone wild in the city of Paris as the team established their place in the World Cup Final, as breathtaking scenes erupted on the capital's streets.

The French national anthem La Marseillaise, serenades of "We're in the final" and an uproar of automobile horns and sparklers rang out over Paris on Tuesday night as residents of the capital celebrated France's walk to Russia 2018 World Cup final.

A stunning crowd of over 20,000 gathered to watch Le Blue's beat Belgium 1-0 in their semi-final clash in Saint Petersburg on a giant screen at Paris' historic Hotel de Ville.

With the viewing space at a premium, as every vantage spot was occupied - with fans perched on trees, over vans, on dustbins and all sorts of things to get a view of 2018 biggest sporting event.

Samuel Umtiti's decisive goal in the 51st minute set off the waving of an ocean of tricolor banners as joyful supporters - numerous in the national team's color-kissed and embraced and danced.

A huge number of delighted fans pressed the Champs-Élysées chanting, dancing and setting off flares

"Vive la France, Vive la Republique" shouted Alia and Sacha, two Parisian schoolchildren.

"We are so proud to be French tonight!" Alia explained as firecrackers exploded on the cobblestones.

Motorbikes, cycles, cars, dustbin lorries - they all came to a standstill to join in the celebrations. With France under high security since the November 2015 terror attacks, the fan zone at the town hall was policed by over 1,200 members of the security forces.

Fans, who had climbed on top of buses gingerly inching their way through the crowds, were dancing and waving flares and flags, as the bus driver fought a losing battle to get his passengers to their destination on time.

- Vive la France -

"I was 18 years old in 1998, it was one of the most beautiful nights of my life. We'll repeat that this Sunday," said Sebastien.

"This team is fantastic," he said, beaming.

"Boys, we're world champions" one man in his 30s was heard telling his mates. "Stop that, you'll bring us bad luck" he was reprimanded before the group of friends broke out into the chant of the night -- "We're in the final".

From balconies, families waved the French national flag, children kitted out in Les Bleus shirts waved to the crowd below.

The Rue de Rivoli, normally choc-a-bloc with Tuesday night traffic, became a temporary pedestrian zone as crowds made their way along it past the Louvre to the Champs-Elysees, where 20 years earlier Paris had gathered to celebrate France's sole World Cup win.

Two decades on, there was a sense of deja vu as thousands of euphoric fans turned the City of Lights' most celebrated boulevard into a giant street party.

Up in the capital's red light district at Pigalle in the 18th arrondissement, the neon lit-windmill outside the Moulin Rouge cabaret was shrouded in a haze of smoke bombs and flares

"It's magnificent," beamed Thierry Perrier, 45, who was with his eight-year-old daughter.

"We needed this in France, we deserved it. We had the best players and for the moral of the French, to win the World Cup would be the best present ever," he said, his voice hoarse from cheering.

Another fan, 17-year-old Lea, was not even born when France won their one and only World Cup on a heady night at the Stade de France in a 3-0 triumph over Brazil.

World Cup 2018: Croatia 2-1 England (aet) highlights
Croatia were "underestimated" by English pundits who lacked respect, says captain Luka Modric.
Zlatko Dalic's side beat England 2-1 in extra time to reach the World Cup final for the first time in their history.
Midfielder Modric said the team had been motivated by people saying they would be "tired" after their previous two matches went to penalty shootouts.
"We showed again we were not tired," he said. "We dominated the game physically, mentally, in all aspects."
Kieran Trippier gave England the lead in Moscow, but Ivan Perisic levelled for Croatia before Mario Mandzukic scored the winning goal in the 109th minute.
"English journalists, pundits from television, they underestimated Croatia and that was a huge mistake," Real Madrid's Modric told ITV. "They should be more humble and respect more opponents.
"All these words from them we take, we were reading and we were saying, 'OK, today we will see who will be tired'." England face Croatia in October and November in the new Uefa Nations League.
Croatia, whose previous best World Cup performance was a third-place finish in 1998, face France in Moscow on Sunday.
"It is the biggest success in Croatian history in sport and we have to be proud," added Modric. Croatia defender Dejan Lovren said Modric deserves to win the Ballon d'Or if they win Sunday's final, describing his team-mate as the "best midfield player in the world".
The Liverpool centre-back also believes he should be considered one of the world's best defenders.
Lovren, 29, made 43 appearances for Liverpool last season as they finished fourth in the Premier League and reached the Champions League final.
But he was criticised for some of his performances during the season, and received a death threat after October's 4-1 defeat by Tottenham.
"I think people should recognise that I am also one of the best defenders in the world and not just talk nonsense," he told Bein Sports.
'We have become a football force'
Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic and several other politicians wore the national team's football shirt to a meeting of the government on Thursday.
"This success speaks of the strength of a country that is not big, but has a huge heart, courage, enthusiasm and these young men who have gone a step further than the brilliant generation of 1998, " he said. "In 20 years we have really become a football force."

Croatian prime minister Andrej Plenkovic
Newspaper Vecernji List carried the headline "This is unbelievable, now only sky is the limit, we can be champions" and pondered how the players were able to find the energy reserves necessary to survive their third period of extra time of the tournament.
"This is not a miracle, this is unbelievable! What our players have shown is beyond all parameters, above everything," it said.

Cristiano Ronaldo has secured a big money move to Italian champions Juventus.

It was announced on Tuesday afternoon that the five-time Balon d'Or winner will earn €30 million a year in Turin and in the meanwhile, has penned a four-year deal worth a whopping €120 million.

That's right. The 33-year-old will pocket £26,545,154 a year at Juventus, which equates to £2,212,096 per month.

If you break that down into weekly, daily and hourly rates, it just proves that despite his age he is still worth a huge amount.

He will pick up £106,180,616 over four years, £26,545,154 in a year, £2,212,096 in a month and £510,483 a week

If that doesn't put things into perspective, maybe this will: Cristiano Ronaldo will earn £72,925 a day, £3,038 an hour, £50.64 a minute and 84p a second during his time in Serie A.

He's won Champions League and La Liga trophies, as well as four Balon d'Or trophies during his time in Madrid, but he will begin a new journey in the coming days, weeks and months.

Cristiano wrote a letter to Real Madrid fans on his departure and it sums him up as a person. A touch of class.

"These years at Real Madrid, and in this city of Madrid, were possibly the happiest of my life," he said.

"I have feelings of great appreciation for this club, for the fans and for his city alone.

I can only thank them all for the love and affection that I have received.

"However, I think it is time to open a new stage in my life and why I have asked the club to accept transfer. I'm so sorry and ask you all, and especially our fans, please understand me.

"They have been absolutely wonderful nine years. They have been 9 unique years. It has been for me an exiting, full of consideration although hard time because Real Madrid is a very high demand, but I know that I can not ever forget that behold Football enjoyed in a unique way.

"I've had on the field and in the locker room a fabulous companions, I felt warmth of an incredible crowed and together we have won 3 consecutive Champions League and 4 Champions League in 5 years. And with them also individually, I have the satisfaction of having won 4 and 3 Golden Balls Boots. All during my time in this immense and extraordinary club."

How will Cristiano Ronaldo cope with the Italian style of football? Will he continue his incredible goalscoring form in Turin?

Antonio Conte sacked by Chelsea
By Lewis Ambrose
From Onefootball
Chelsea have sacked Antonio Conte on Thursday.

According to Sky Italia, Conte has been informed he is no longer the club’s manager.

The Italian has been in charge for two seasons, winning the Premier League in his first campaign and the FA Cup in his second.

However, a number of clashes with prominent members of the club’s board meant a long-term stay was never on the cards.

Chelsea have long been linked with former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri but Conte returned to the club’s Cobham Training Ground this week as no deal to replace him with Sarri was yet in place.

Now that Conte is sacked, the arrival of Sarri is thought to be imminent.

July 12, 2018  SPORT

                           [Image: Dyabala-and-Hazard.jpg?resize=620%2C318]
According to reports, Premier League club Chelsea have been installed as the latest suitors to sign Paulo Dybala this summer and this report looks very well promising for the Blues.

Earlier this week, Italian news outlet Tutto Mercato Web Liverpool are believed to be leading the race to sign the playmaker this summer.

Chelsea’s reported interest came in the wake of Cristiano Ronaldo joining Juventus from Real Madrid earlier this week and it’s believed the 13-time Champions League are lining up move for Eden Hazard as the Portuguese replacement.

As per the report, the FA Cup winners have approach Dybala’s representatives that they are willing to secure his signing this summer and are set to sanction a fee worth in the region of 90 million euros (£79.5million) that will see him at Stamford Bridge this summer.
[Image: Hazard-v-Dybala-Statistical-comparisons....=566%2C647]
Dybala is a very versatile talent, who can be utilize anywhere in the attack of which Hazard mainly operates and perform well in the left-wing role, making his move to Chelsea an additional bonus.

The Argentine last season, registered 46 appearances for Juventus in all outings and netted 26 goals whilst also providing his teammates with seven assists. Hazard, on the hand, netted 17 goals with seven assists in 42 appearances across all competition for Chelsea last season.Stats as collated by Whoscored.com shows Dybala having a rating of 7.77 winning the Man of the Match eight different time with Juventus while Hazard is rated at 7.69 with MotM’s on nine different occasions with Chelsea.

The World Cup 2018 campaign did not go well as planned for Dybala. In Argentina’s four games of the tournament, the Juve star could only register one appearances i.e against Argentina’s 3-0 defeat to Croatia in the group stages.

The former Palermo star contract runs till four years with Juventus which explains why his asking price will be hefty and as per The Mail, Dybala is earning around £110,000-a-week with Juventus.

Chelsea Complete First Summer Signing

                          [Image: sport-preview-jorginho-and-sarri-to-chelsea.jpg]
Italian midfielder Jorginho is said to have had medicals with Chelsea ahead of a potential move, according to reports.

Jorginho was strongly linked with a move to Manchester City at the opening of the transfer window but he opted to follow his coach Maurizio Sarri to Stamford Bridge instead.

Following the sack of Antonio Conte, Sarri is expected to assume the reins of Chelsea, and it is widely reported that the Blues have earmarked £140m for him to spend in the transfer window.

Confirming the sack of Conte, Chelsea released a statement:

“Chelsea Football Club and Antonio Conte have parted company.

“During Antonio’s time at the club, we won our sixth league title and eighth FA Cup. In the title winning season, the club set a then-record 30 wins in a 38-game Premier League season, as well as a club-record 13 consecutive league victories.

“We wish Antonio every success in his future career.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea entered a £57.4million agreement with Napoli, which includes the sell-on clause for Sarri. Nonetheless, Napoli president De Laurentiis is seeking assurances from Sarri that he would not sign any other player from the Naples based club.

Jorginho will become the first summer signing of Chelsea after agreeing £102,000 a week deal on a five years deal. He was said to have medicals with the Blues on Thursday. The arrival of Jorginho will affect the place of either Fabregas or Bakayoko but Sarri will have a plethora of options to choose from. In Jorginho, Chelsea would have signed a perfect midfield partner for N’golo Kante.

The deal is expected to be completed today.

World Cup 2018: England finish fourth after Belgium defeat

World Cup 2018: Belgium 2-0 England highlights
England's World Cup campaign in Russia ended with a 2-0 defeat by Belgium in St Petersburg that meant the Three Lions finished in fourth place.
Gareth Southgate's team were unable to bounce back from the despair of Wednesday's extra-time loss against Croatia in the semi-final in Moscow - but this still represents a highly creditable tournament for England.
Thomas Meunier put Belgium ahead after just four minutes when he slid in ahead of Danny Rose to divert Nacer Chadli's cross past goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
England had chances to level in the second half as Toby Alderweireld cleared off the line from Eric Dier, while Harry Maguire also headed wide from a good position.
Eden Hazard wrapped it up for Belgium with eight minutes left when he got the better of Phil Jones to beat Pickford, who had just saved magnificently from Meunier, with an powerful finish.
Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku missed two chances and was substituted without scoring, leaving England captain Harry Kane in pole position to win the World Cup's Golden Boot with six goals.
Kane will collect the award barring remarkable deeds from France duo Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe, who are on three goals apiece, in Sunday's final against Croatia in Moscow (kick-off 16:00 BST).

World Cup 2018: Jordan Pickford save denies 'goal of the tournament'
England's run ends in disappointment
Southgate made five changes to the team beaten by Croatia - but there was still a clear determination to secure their best result at this tournament since 1966.
And with Belgium counterpart Roberto Martinez adopting the same approach, it made for an entertaining play-off in this magnificent arena in St Petersburg.
It would have been easy for England's heads to drop after defensive sloppiness from Danny Rose - who allowed Meunier to slide in on his blind side - led to them falling behind so early.
England, as others have before them, struggled to cope with the variety of Belgium's attack, but their attitude was once again commendable and they had chances to pull the game level before Hazard snuffed out their hopes.
Dier's clever chip was miraculously cleared off the line by Alderweireld, before he and Harry Maguire headed wide from good positions as England pressed.
This is a fixture regarded as an unwanted intrusion for teams who have suffered the despair of a World Cup semi-final defeat, but Belgium and England made it competitive.
It was, in some respects, a game too far for England after the disappointment of Wednesday's loss to Croatia - but to go home having finished fourth at this spectacular World Cup in Russia is no disgrace.

Stones maintains the standard
England defender John Stones, apart from one lapse that let Mario Mandzukic in for Croatia's winner in Moscow on Wednesday, has had a magnificent World Cup.
And he ended it with a flawless performance in St Petersburg, doing more than anyone to keep Belgium's outstanding attack at bay.
Stones produced a standout moment in the first half when he retreated in the face of Lukaku running at him, biding his time before making a perfect tackle.
He was the barrier on countless occasions and even got a handshake from his Manchester City team-mate De Bruyne for one late interception.
Stones' ability to play out from the back and his cultured style are integral to Southgate's future plans - and he has performed in this tournament in exactly the manner his most fervent admirers hoped he would.

World Cup 2018: Eden Hazard breakaway goal seals victory for Belgium against England
Belgium can come again
Belgium's delight at a third-place finish - their best at a World Cup - was obvious in the manner in which Martinez and his assistant Thierry Henry celebrated with their players at full-time.
It meant a lot - although it could have been even better after beating Brazil in the quarter-finals only to then lose to France in the last four.
However, Martinez has a truly outstanding squad at his disposal and there is every chance they will now get stronger having gained stature here.
Any squad that boasts the attacking firepower they have in De Bruyne, Hazard and Lukaku, as well as their strength of squad elsewhere, is a force to be reckoned with - and this may be only the start of Belgium's story as a rising football force.
Man of the match - Eden Hazard (Belgium)

Hazard ran the show for Belgium against England. The Chelsea forward has been involved in seven World Cup goals for Belgium (four goals and three assists) - since 1966, no player has been involved in more.
Super Hazard - the stats
 • This is Belgium's best finish at a World Cup, having previously finished fourth in 1986.
 • England have lost three of their past five matches - their previous three losses came over a period of 28 matches.
 • The Three Lions lost back-to-back matches for the first time since June 2014, when they were beaten by Italy and Uruguay at the 2014 World Cup.
 • This was England's 100th match at a major tournament - 69 at the World Cup, 31 at the European Championship. They have won 39, drawn 32 and lost 29 of those.
 • England lost three matches at a major tournament for only the second time, also losing three times at Euro 1988.
 • Since 1966, no player has been involved in more World Cup goals for Belgium than Hazard (seven - three goals and four assists), level with Jan Ceulemans (also four goals and three assists).
 • Meunier was the 10th player to score for Belgium at this Russia 2018, the joint most by a team at a World Cup - also 10 for France in 1982 and Italy in 2006.
 • Kane ended the 2018 World Cup with six goals from six shots on target - however, he had just one shot on target in his final four games (his penalty against Colombia in the last 16).
 • England had as many shots on target in this match as they managed in their previous three knockout games combined (six).

Maurizio Sarri: Chelsea name ex-Napoli boss as Antonio Conte's successor
 • Chelsea

Maurizio Sarri guided Napoli to second in Serie A last season
Maurizio Sarri says he wants to bring "entertaining football" to Chelsea after becoming their manager on a three-year deal.
The 59-year-old replaces fellow Italian Antonio Conte, who was sacked on Fridayafter two years at Stamford Bridge.
Sarri led Napoli to two second-place finishes in his three seasons in charge of the Serie A side, who named Carlo Ancelotti as his successor in May.
"It is an exciting new period in my career," said Sarri.
"I hope we can provide some entertaining football for our fans and that we will be competing for trophies at the end of the season, which is what this club deserves."
He is the 13th managerial appointment by Blues owner Roman Abramovich since his takeover of the club in 2003, including Jose Mourinho and Guus Hiddink on two occasions.
Sarri's appointment had been widely expected, with Chelsea agreeing compensation to bring him to Stamford Bridge because he had two years left on his Napoli deal and had remained on the Italian club's payroll after Ancelotti's arrival.

Who is Sarri?
Italian football expert James Horncastle
Sarri never made it as a player and, unable to make a living as a footballer, he worked as a foreign currency trader at the Banca Toscana.
He was attached to the international department, which involved business trips to Europe's financial centres, including the City of London - but the role never stoked his imagination quite like football did.
He coached part-time, hopping from one Tuscan town to another and in 2001, when foreign currency traders like him were no longer as useful to banks as Italy prepared to adopt the euro, Sarri decided to take a leap of faith and leave his well-paid, regular-hours role, for what he says is "the only job I would do for free".
What did he do at Napoli?

Maurizio Sarri's Serie A record at Napoli
Juventus have dominated the Italian league - winning seven titles in a row - but no side has come closer to them in that time than Napoli, who finished four points behind their rivals last season.
Sarri comes with a reputation as an attacking manager, with Napoli's haul of 94 goals in the 2016-17 league campaign remaining the highest number scored in a Serie A season since the turn of the century.
In his three years in charge, Napoli scored 251 league goals - more than any other side in the Italian top flight.
He is Chelsea's sixth Italian manager since Gianluca Vialli in 1998, following Claudio Ranieri, Ancelotti, Roberto di Matteo and Conte.
Despite his success domestically, he failed to guide the Naples club past the last-16 stage of the Champions League, finishing third in their group last season behind Manchester City and Shakhtar Donetsk.
He joined Napoli in 2015 after guiding Empoli to the top flight. Chelsea is his first managerial job outside his home country and he has yet to win a major trophy.

World Cup 2018: France beat Croatia 4-2 in World Cup final
By Phil McNulty
Chief football writer in Moscow, Russia

World Cup 2018: France 4-2 Croatia highlights
France won the Fifa World Cup for the second time by overcoming Croatia's bold challenge in a thrilling final in Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium.
Didier Deschamps' side repeated the success on home soil at France '98 by a margin that hardly looked possible as Croatia stood toe-to-toe with the favourites for an hour.
France's victory meant Deschamps, who captained them 20 years ago, became just the third man to win the competition as a player and coach.
Croatia also felt their luck deserted them, but ultimately France ran out victorious to erase the memories of the loss to Portugal in the Euro 2016 final in Paris.
In one of the most exciting World Cup finals of the modern era, played out to a soundtrack of thunder, Croatia and France delivered an enthralling spectacle that brought the highest goal tally in a final since 1966, a pitch invasion, and a controversial intervention from the video assistant referee that had a huge influence on the outcome.
France took the lead after 18 minutes when Antoine Griezmann's free-kick deflected in off Mario Mandzukic's head - but Croatia were by far the better side in the first half and deservedly equalised courtesy of Ivan Perisic's left-foot finish.
Croatia were left nursing a burning sense of injustice when France restored their lead seven minutes before half-time through Griezmann's penalty, awarded by referee Nestor Pitana for handball against Perisic after a lengthy delay while VAR was consulted.
In a compelling second half, France looked to have wrapped it up with two strikes in six minutes from Paul Pogba and Kylian Mbappe either side of the hour mark.
Croatia, however, showed unbreakable spirit and even threatened a comeback when Mandzukic took advantage of France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris hesitating over a clearance to pull a goal back.
But France closed out the win to bring redemption for Deschamps after defeat at the Euros two years ago, sparking wild celebrations and ensuring Lloris lifted the World Cup.

Quality and luck - a deadly combination
France are the team for all seasons - possessing an all-round quality that has carried them to this World Cup triumph.
When that is added to an element of good fortune, it can prove a deadly combination.
Croatia will complain bitterly that Griezmann went down theatrically for the free-kick that led to Mandzukic's own goal, and they will also feel Perisic's handball was not clear-cut enough for VAR to make that decisive intervention just before half-time.
What is not in doubt, however, is the sheer quality this France side possesses, a potent attack the spearhead for a strong midfield and outstanding defence.
When Croatia threatened to come back once more early in the second half, Pogba and Mbappe's strikes from the edge of the area past the static Danijel Subasic - who still looked less than fully fit after injuring a hamstring in the quarter-final against Russia - proved the defining passage of this final.
France celebrated joyously at the final whistle after claiming the sport's greatest trophy once more, with Deschamps - the coach whose conservative methods have often brought criticism - tossed high into the air by his players.
Croatia's pride and passion
Croatia return home as beaten World Cup finalists but their approach to this match will have won the hearts of neutrals and earned them a prolonged standing ovation from their fans at the final whistle.
Zlatko Dalic's side were the better team for the first hour despite trailing, and were pushing France back when they were hit by those two swift hammer blows from Pogba and Mbappe.
Croatia had done it the hard way to reach this final, winning on penalties in the last 16 and quarter-final against Denmark and hosts Russia respectively before requiring extra time to beat England in the semi-final.
Yet they showed no signs of tiredness as they tore into France from the first whistle, and even when the game looked out of reach they never once let their heads drop, threatening an unlikely comeback when Mandzukic cashed in on Lloris' error.
It was not to be but world-class midfielder Luka Modric has illuminated this World Cup, while the energy, commitment and threat of Perisic stood out here.
Croatia's footballers and their coach will return home as national heroes - a status they fully deserve after their contribution to this spectacular World Cup and their all-out approach to this final.
The great VAR debate
This was the first World Cup to utilise VAR - so it was perhaps inevitable it would play a major part in the final.
The moment came just before half-time when France's players appealed instantly for a penalty when a corner struck Perisic's hand at the near post.
Referee Pitana took what seemed an age to consult VAR - even having one last look to make sure after moving to turn away - before, to Croatia's horror and France's delight, pointing to the spot.
Croatia will argue it was not a "clear and obvious" mistake and the handball was not a deliberate act on Perisic's part, and their pain increased as Griezmann slipped home the penalty that was to play a crucial role in the outcome.

 • Perisic has been directly involved in 11 goals at major tournaments (7 goals, 4 assists), more than any other Croatia player.
 • Perisic became only the second player to both score a goal, and concede a penalty in a World Cup final, after Marco Materazzi for Italy in 2006.
 • Pogba became the first Manchester United player to score in a World Cup final, and the first Premier League player to do so since Emmanuel Petit in 1998.
 • Pogba's goal for France was the first scored from outside the box in a World Cup final since Marco Tardelli for Italy v Germany in 1982.
 • Mandzukic is only the second player in World Cup history to score a goal and an own goal in the same match, after the Netherlands' Ernie Brandts against Italy in 1978.
 • Mandzukic became the fifth player to score in both World Cup and European Cup/Champions League finals after Ferenc Puskas, Zoltan Czibor, Gerd Muller and Zinedine Zidane.

Cristiano Ronaldo: New Juventus signing says players his age go to Qatar or China

Ronaldo was unveiled at the Allianz Stadium in Turin on Monday
Cristiano Ronaldo says he is "grateful for the opportunity" given to him by Juventus, as players of his age "usually go to Qatar or China".
The 33-year-old Portugal forward has joined the Italian champions for £99.2m after nine years at Real Madrid.
"To come to this club at this stage of my career, I am very happy," he said at his presentation in Turin.
Ronaldo also said he hopes to be the "lucky star" as the Italian side attempt to win the Champions League.
He added he had not received any other offers.
Ronaldo scored a club record 450 goals for Real - winning four Champions Leagues and La Liga twice - having joined from Manchester United in 2009.
A five-time Ballon D'Or winner - including last year - he led Portugal to victory at the 2016 European Championship.
"I want to win," he said. "I want to be the best. Who knows, maybe I will be awarded the Ballon d'Or again but things will happen naturally.
"It was difficult to win it in Manchester and Real Madrid, but maybe here? We will see."
Ronaldo said there were "many important things" that contributed to his decision.
"I am well - physically, mentally and emotionally," he said. "That is why I am so proud of being here and the way I have come here.
"I am different from all the other players who think that their career is over at my age, but I want to show the others that I am different. It is very emotional for me at the club now because I am not 23, I am 33.
"It gives me so much momentum for the future."
Taking Juventus to an 'even higher level'

Cristiano Ronaldo was greeted by excited Juventus supporters as he arrived at the Allianz Stadium
Juventus are Italy's most successful club, having won Serie A 34 times - including the last seven in a row - and the Coppa Italia on 13 occasions.
However, they have not won the Champions League since 1996, losing on their past five appearances in the final.
Ronaldo said: "I do know that the Champions League is a trophy every club would like to win. This is an option. We are going to fight not only for the Champions League but for the Serie A title.
"We know competition will be harsh but we must stay concentrated. I hope I can help Juventus win it. I hope I can be the lucky star of this club but we will see what happens.
"Juventus gave me a wonderful opportunity. I'm so grateful. They gave value to my football style so it's a step forward as I see it. Juventus can have many successes. They have won domestic cups and titles and reached Champions League finals.
"I am so proud they were interested in me. I hope I can take Juventus to an even higher level."

The Portuguese arrived yesterday after Real Madrid and Juventus agreed a deal for his transfer last week.

And the fivetime Ballon D'or winner was at Juventus's medical center this morning to undergo his medical.

Juventus fans were eager to catch a glimpse of their latest signing and he briefly obliged, coming out to the large crowd to take photos and sign autographs.

Phil Foden: Man City midfielder ready for Premier League, says Pep Guardiola

Sorry, you need Flash to play this.
Pep Guardiola is 'so happy' for his players after victory
Manchester City's teenage midfielder Phil Foden has proved he is "mature" enough for the Premier League, according to manager Pep Guardiola.
Foden, 18, impressed as champions City beat FA Cup holders Chelsea 2-0 in Sunday's Community Shield.
The Stockport-born midfielder set up Sergio Aguero to score the first of his two goals at Wembley.
"He was ready last season. Now he is one year on, he is more mature," Guardiola said.
"He was training last season with us and he fought well with all of our players."
With key players still absent from the squad, including midfielders Kevin de Bruyne and David Silva, Foden took his opportunity with a confident and composed display in warm conditions.
After assisting Aguero for his 200th goal for the club, Foden played another sublime pass for the Argentine, who could only find the side-netting after rounding Chelsea goalkeeper Willy Caballero.
"It is so good to have another player with his talent. He's a City fan and Mancunian and it is so good for us," Guardiola added.
England youth international Foden, who turned 18 in May, joined the club at under-nine level and was brought on as a substitute on the final day of last season to make a fifth, medal-earning appearance.

'Sergio is a special guy'
Sunday was also a landmark day for Aguero, who became the first player to score 200 goals for City.
"Sergio is a special guy," said Guardiola. "Now, his knee is perfect, he arrived in a very good condition, a good mood and most important is he scores goals and creates chances."
Guardiola was pleased to see his side cope so well with the hot weather.
He added: "It was more than 30 degrees - it's so demanding, but we did it so well. I am so happy for the players and it's good to start with one title by our side.
"We have to play with this attitude and what we have done. We'll see at the end of the season what our level was."
City begin the defence of their Premier League title against with a trip to Arsenal next Sunday (16:00 BST).
Inspired to try football?
