Daily Devotional for Thursday 8th April

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1).
Assume it was your birthday, and your favourite uncle, rich and generous, called you on the phone to tell you he just bought you a car. You’d believe him and immediately get excited, even though you hadn’t seen the car. That’s faith; it doesn’t require physical evidence.

The reason you believe and rejoice is that you trust your uncle’s character; otherwise, you’d express doubt upon receiving the news. Similarly, when you think, talk and act based on the integrity of God’s Word, you’re expressing faith, and you’re bound to have extraordinary results.

Someone once lamented how God gave him a specific word about his healing, prosperity and restoration, yet he claimed he didn’t see evidence that the Word came to pass in his life. His language actually manifested unbelief. What other evidence is there concerning your blessings and triumphant life besides the Word of God?

Become fully persuaded by the Word of God. Don’t wait for any physical manifestation before you take what God says is yours. Accept His Word and live accordingly. Your faith is the manifestation, for faith perceives as fact that which has been declared by the Word.

My faith is active and prevails even now! I anchor my life on God’s Word, and refuse to be swayed by contrary winds or circumstances, for my faith is the title-deed to unseen realities. I walk in the light of my inheritance in Christ, in power and grace, living in divine health and supernatural prosperity. I’m victorious evermore, because I live in and by the Word. Amen.

Hebrews 11:6

But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Matthew 15:28
Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great [is] thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

Luke 11:37-54 & Judges 5-6

Matthew 28:1-10 & Leviticus 8

I affirm that I’m in the centre of God’s will for my life! He has granted me an understanding of the Truth; He has made all grace—every favour and earthly blessing—come to me in abundance, so that I may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need, be self-sufficient, possessing enough to require no aid or support, furnished in abundance, for every good work.

My spirit is open to the realities of the kingdom, and I am exalted by the Spirit of the Lord! I’ve been chosen and ordained to be productive in all aspects of my life.

My mind is anointed for growth and supernatural success! I know what to do; I know when to do what to do; and I know how to do what to do, through the guidance and light that I receive from the Holy Spirit and the Word.

I am making progress and winning every day. The Lord has imparted His righteousness into my heart, and set me apart to be an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity, and sanctification, to my world.

My life is the expression of God’s righteousness, and purity of the Spirit. I am full of the Spirit, and the anointing is at work in me! Every time I stretch my hands, the anointing is released and yokes are destroyed, burdens are lifted, hopes are restored, sicknesses and diseases are healed! Hallelujah.

All things are possible to me! My life is the expression of the glorious realities of the Gospel of Christ. My faith is working and producing results today and always! Glory to God. Hallelujah!

God bless you

And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room. 1 Kings 19:16
READ: 1 Samuel 16:11-13

11 And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.

12 And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and goodly to look to. And the LORD said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he.

13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

In 1 Samuel 2:7, we see how God can transform an ordinary person through His anointing. There is power in the anointing and it comes from the Spirit of God. Anointing can turn an ordinary person to an extraordinary one, just like David in the Bible reading of today. However, before the anointing can come on you, you must possess certain qualities God must have seen that you can make good use of power before He entrust you with it. Jesus was sure the early disciples would make good use of the Holy Spirit and that was why He fulfilled His promises. We see this in Acts 1:8:

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

Beloved, you cannot do any spiritual work without the anointing! Some people think ordination is done merely to confer titles on people whereas the primary reason is for an impartation of the anointing that destroys yokes - first, in the life of one being ordained and secondly, to equip him or her for spiritual assignments. This is why all categories of workers in The Redeemed Christian Church of God are always prepared for ordination according to their level of assignment, whether they minister from the pulpit or not.

One of my sons explained it this way:  When an engineer works in a secular organization, he does not need anointing. However, once he or she is engaged to serve in the Church, there is a need for the anointing. This is because the devil knows he now works to pull down his kingdom through the medium of the Church. Thus, every worker of the Church needs to be born again, sanctified, Spirit-filled and anointed, if not, such a fellow would end up like Judas Iscariot.

Just as we see in our memory verse today, both the king and the prophet needed the anointing to function in their respective callings. The anointing will empower you to become an unstoppable and indestructible vessel of honor in the household of faith. Press for the anointing.

Purge yourself of all sinful habits so you can be prepared unto every good works as a vessel of honor (2 Timothy 2:19-21).
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Corinthians 1-4.

1. Take my life and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in endless praise.
2. Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee.
3. Take my voice and let me sing,
Always, only for my King.
Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee.
4. Take my silver and my gold,
Not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use
Every pow’r as Thou shalt choose.
5. Take my will and make it Thine,
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is Thine own,
It shall be Thy royal throne.
6. Take my love, my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee.

?️Relate with people who can cover your back and veil your nakedness, and not those who stab you at the back or join those who do so.

*SCRIPTURE* ?: And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness. Genesis 9:23.

*THOUGHT FOR THE DAY* ?: Relate with people who can cover your back and veil your nakedness, and not those who stab you at the back or join those who do so.

Relationship is very critical to destiny fulfilment. Who you relate with determines where you will end in life. Many people have ruined their destinies because of wrong relationships.

This is why it is important to engage wisdom in relationship by relating selectively.

A major aspect of relationship wisdom is knowing the kind of people to relate with.

So, in our study today, you are encouraged to relate with people who can cover your back and veil your nakedness, and not those who can stab you at the back or join those who do so.

Do not relate with those who will expose your faults, errors or mistakes in order to ridicule you. Rather, relate with those who can cover your back.

You know, no matter how wise you are, you cannot see the back of your head. So, you must relate with friends who can cover you at the back to prevent your being stabbed by enemy arrows from behind you. Relate with people who would not stab you at the back.

People who cover your nakedness are people who would not expose your faults, errors, mistakes or weakness to others.

There are people who expose the failure of their friends to others. They are usually the first to make the world know the mistake of their so-called friends. This is wickedness! You are not6 a true friend if people trust you with sensitive information about their lives, and you begin to use same information to ridicule them.

My counsel is, ensure that you relate with people who will not expose your weakness.

*Remember this* ?: Relate with people who can cover your back and veil your nakedness, and not those who stab you at the back or join those who do so.

*1. Make up your mind to relate with people who will cover your back* .

*2. Dissociate yourself from people who will expose your weakness to others* .

*PRAYER* ??: Lord, I ask that You help me to discover and relate with people who will cover my back and veil my nakedness, Lord in Jesus’ Name.

*QUOTE* : Show me your closest friend and I will show you what quality of person you are. Culled from “21 UNCOMMON THINGS PEOPLE DO” by Dr Paul Enenche.

 *DAILY READING: 2 Chronicles 19-21.*

*AMAZING FACT* ?: The world’s largest Bible weighs 1,094 pounds. Built by Louis Waynai in 1930, the book is 43.5 inches tall and has a laid open width of 98 inches.

*PROPHETIC DECLARATION/WORD* ??️: The Lord help you with wisdom to relate correctly in Jesus’ Name.
