Kano state govt shuts down a hospital for handling severe COVID19 cases

The Kano state government have shut down the UMC Hospital in the state after it was discovered that the hospital management was attending to “severe cases” of COVID-19 instead of referring the patients to isolation centres provided by the state government.
The state Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, disclosed this in a statement. He said investigations showed that the hospital went contrary to the directive of the government and was treating COVID19 cases in their facility. Garba said two patients died in the hospital.
A team from the COVID19 taskforce closed down the hospital. Two other patients with severe cases of COVID-19 were transferred to isolation centre while other patients on admission were taken to the Malam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital and Muhammadu Abdullahi Wase Specialist Hospital.
According to the state's Ministry of Health, the total coronavirus deaths in Kano has risen to 82 with 11 new cases and 3,047 total confirmed cases out of which 359 cases are very active.
