A yet-to-be identified young lady has been found dead inside a drainage at AOdikpi village, along Osumenyi/Akwuihedi road, Osumenyi in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra.

The deceased, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, was found with her hands and legs tied with rope and her mouth gagged. There are also marks of violence on her neck.


 
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the incident on Wedneday, November 11, said efforts are being made to apprehend the perpetrators.
 
“On the 10/11/2020 at about 12pm, there was a report by a good Samaritan from Osumenyi in Nnewi South LGA that a girl whose name and address is yet to be ascertained, aged about 22years was seen lying lifeless inside a gutter along Osumenyi/Akwuihedi road Osumenyi with mark of violence on her neck, mouth was sealed with tape while her legs and hands were tied with rope," he said.

“Scene was visited by Police operatives attached to Nnewi Area Command and victim was rushed to Visitation Hospital Osumenyi where she was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. Corpse was photorgraphed and deposited at the same hospital morgue for autopsy and effort being intensified to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident in order to apprehend perpetrators and bring them to book.” he added.

The young woman allegedly murdered and dumped into gutter in Anambra has been identified as Chinasa Sophia, a graduate of the Institute of the Institute of Management Technology (IMT) Enugu.
 
The corpse of the deceased was found dumped inside a drainage at Adikpi village, along Osumenyi/Akwuihedi road, Osumenyi in Nnewi South Local Government Area of the State.
 

 
Spokesperson of the Police Command, who confirmed the incident on Wednesday, November 11, said her corpse was deposited at Visitation Hospital morgue in Osumenyi. Read previous report  Here
 
According to David Azubike Chikwunyelum who knew the victim, late Chinasa was a sales girl and he used to patronise her.
 
"Some time on Sunday evening or Monday this week i came across this post (Only the victim as her lifeless body lays on the drainage), I by passed it, reason I can't Identify the face, secondly I don't have come to believe that some whom i know will be a such victim, it never occurred in my mind. 

Today as I arrive for normal business my neighbors greeted that a lady was killed in Nnewi by unknown people and dump in the gutter and was in Facebook , I remembered I came across such! I ask for her identity , oh my God it's Chinasa, she is a sales girl, I use to buy from her Bullet energy drink, Pure Heaven fruit juice and Vitasoy soya drink. May her soul rest in peace" he wrote.
 

 
Meanwhile, friends and former classmates have taken to Facebook to mourn her. One Ifunanya Idimma cursed the perpetrators of such dastardly act. 
 
"I can't believe too. What a wicked world. A beautiful soul is gone. It will never be well with whoever that did this to you Chinasa" she wrote
 
Rita Ezenwa: "Goose bumps all over my body. Can't believe this. Chinasa is gone. My classmate. RIP dear. Only God knows. So sad."

A young lady was found dumped inside a drainage at Odikpi Village, along Osumenyi/Akwaihedi Road in Osumenyi Town, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State on November 7, NaijaCover Reports.

From The Information Gathered By NaijaCover, The body of Chinasa Sofia Nkwegu was found dumped inside a drainage two days after telling her family over the phone that she didn't know where she was being taken to by some persons.

Her family members disclosed this when they visited Nnewi South TC Chairman, Hon. Chieloka Henry Okoye on Tuesday, November 17, at the Secretariat in Ukpor.

NaijaCover Recall that when Nkwegu's body was found, her mouth was gagged while her hands and legs were tied with rope. The corpse was first spotted on Saturday evening, November 7.

According to Comr George Moore, the Special Assistant to the LG Chairman, the deceased was a native of Ebonyi State, but resided with her mother at Obosi; Idemili North Local Government Area of the state and was a staff of Jennytex Intergrated Services with head office at Onitsha.

According to the deceased's uncle, Mr Damian who spoke to NAIJA COVER, she left for work as usual on Thursday morning, November 5 but never returned. The last that was heard of her was on phone when she said she didn't know where she was being taken to.

"Security Agencies are on top of the matter in identifying what led to the death of Miss Chinasa Nkwegu and will bring the perpetrators to book. Further information from the public will be appreciated for the sake of justice for late Miss Chinasa Nkwegu," said Comr. George Moore.
