Davido has again reacted to the controversy that has trailed Desmond Elliot's comment about celebrities and social media influencers in the wake of the #EndSARS protest. 
 
Recall that the lawmaker representing Surulere constituency in the Lagos House of Assembly has debunked allegation of being one of those pushing for a bill to regulate social media and stiffle free speech. 
 
However in a new tweet shared on Thursday October 29, Davido alleged that Desmond Elliot has destroyed all the precious childhood memories he gave the youths, in movies.

Some Nigerian celebrities have lashed out at actor turned politician, Desmond Elliot following his comment about Nigerian celebrities and social media influencers. 
 
Recall that in a viral video which captured the Surulere lawmaker's submission on the Lagos carnage, he asked the celebrities and influencers "to stop the hatred already". He also pointed out that everyone has a means to change government. 
 
However his comments seems not to have gone down well with his former colleagues in the entertainment industry. They have also taken to social media to express their "disappointment" with his comment.

Former Presidential spokesperson, Reno Omokri has also taken a swipe at Desmond Elliot over his comment on the negative impact of social media following the violence that erupted in Lagos. 
 
Recall that in a video which captured Desmond Elliot's submission at the House of Assembly, he was heard calling on the speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly to "address certain things" like "the Nigerian youth, the social media, the social influencers."
 
Reno Omokri who reacted to the video which has now been made public, alleged that the actor turned politician was acting for his political godfathers to see his loyalty. The former presidential spokesperson noted that Nigeria has changed and the power has shifted to the people. 
 
He also called on all those following Desmond Elliot on Instagram, to unfollow him.
He wrote; 
 

Desmond Elliott was acting for his political godfathers to see his loyalty. He is ambitious. He does not believe what he said. He believed he was writing a promotion exam.

And he felt that the person that would grade his paper is Bola Tinubu. But Nigeria has changed. Power has shifted to the people. Even Bola Tinubu himself can’t recover from the effects of the last two weeks.


Desmond Elliot expects someone who can’t save himself to save him. Alas, he unwisely chose to be the proverbial fly that followed the corpse into the grave. Tinubu is now a political corpse.

He once had the Midas Touch. But now, all that Tinubu has left is the Leprous Touch! Desmond incurred the wrath of forces more powerful than his godfathers, and they may sacrifice him to appease that force

The man @DesmondElliot has 1.5 million followers on Instagram. If in 1 hour’s time, he still has 1.5 million followers, then I will know and accept that everything that he said about Nigeria’s youth is true, because only a fool follows a person that has nothing but disdain for them.

Nigeria’s youth must show that government must be afraid of them and one way to do this is by showing that irresponsible speech and action has consequences!

Desmond Elliot Crying On Live TV Following Backlash 

Desmond Elliot has broken down in tears on Live TV, following the backlash he's receiving from Nigerians over social media regulation.

Recall that the former actor, at the Lagos State House of Rep in his submission, pushed for passing if social media regulation bill.

the controversial statement received lots of criticisms, as many Nigerian youths boast him for referring to youths as “children” and for also pushing for the regulation of social media.

Desmond Elliot in a new interview on Arise TV broke down in tears. This came after he apologized for his statement earlier.

Desmond Elliot Apologises For Addressing The Youths As Children

Desmond Elliot has apologized for addressing the youths as 'Children' while making his submission during plenary at the Lagos state House of Assembly last week, Igbere TV reports.

In a viral video that captured the Surulere lawmaker's submission on the Lagos carnage, he addressed the youths as children and opined that social media was used to fuel the carnage.

Igbere TV reports that Nigerians on social media have been dragging him since for his comment.

In a statement he released on his Twitter handle today, the actor apologized for his choice of words during the deliberation. According to him, he did not mean to be insensitive.

His statement read; “I have read your honest feedback & suggestions & I sincerely apologize for addressing the youth as “Children” I did not mean to be insensitive with this, it was borne out of the magnitude of destruction & looting of businesses I witnessed when I went on a tour of my constituency

“I saw women crying and my constituent members distraught as a result of the damages inflicted on their source of livelihood. I was moved by this while giving my submission on the floor of the House.

“I allowed my emotions get the better of me and for this I apologize to everyone my earlier statements may have hurt.

“Please, understand that even the best of us make mistakes. This is why, moving forward, I ask that we all try to engage constructively on the issues that affect all of us. I promise to do the same.

“The pain that I feel for my constituents, the calls for assistance that I continue to get, and the need to mitigate against further destruction and violence will continue to drive my engagements and my work.

“I thank you all for expressing your views, and in the future, I promise to be more conscious and aware. Together, we will build a better Nigeria. End.”

Actress Georgina Onuoha is still dragging actor and politician, Desmond Elliot over his comment on social media.
 
Desmond Elliot was dragged mercilessly on social media on Thursday, October 29 after a video of him referring to youths as ''children'' and condemning the use of social media during the crisis that broke out from the #EndSARS protest.

In a new video she shared online, Georgina went hard on Desmond by reminding him of how he began his life with nothing and rose to the top of his career on the wings of the youths whom he now describes as ''children'. She also claimed that Desmond's wife was the one feeding him when they just got married.
She said;

None of you pretended to be on the side of the people that voted you into office - Actress Kemi Lala Akindoju calls out Desmond Elliot and other Lagos lawmakers







Actress Kemi Lala Akindoju has again called Desmond Elliot and other Lagos lawmakers following their submission at the controversial plenary which held few days ago. 
 
The actress who noted that she has watched the complete video of the proceedings at the house, alleged that none of the lawmakers pretended to be on the side of the people who voted them in. 
 
Akindoju added that a large percentage of the people who burnt police stations, looted and robbed are not on social media. Recounting how she was defending him, Kemi Lala Akindoju stated that Desmond Elliot apologized only because of the same ''social media they all want to regulate.''

What of The citizens that were killed all over the country? What of the peaceful protesters that were hoses down, tear gassed and shot at? What of the families still looking for their loved ones?


What of the palliatives that were hoarded?? What of bad leadership, corruption, zero accountability and more from most of the leaders voted in. A large percentage of the people who burnt police stations, looted and robbed are not even on social media.


YOU know this, YOU know how much young people have made sense out of everything Nigeria has FAILED to provide for them because of social media.


But ALL OF YOU chose to turn away from the real issues. NOT ONE PERSON SPOKE TRUTH TO POWER. It is all good. We will not forget and we will do the work to reach everyone within and beyond social media. We will not forget.
