Nigerians have started calling out popular Nollywood actress, Lilian Afegbai to reveal the whereabouts of her mother, Carol Afegbai seven years after..

Her mother is CSP Carol Onyekachi Afegbai, the Divisional Police officer (DPO) who killed and hurriedly buried a student of University of Benin (UNIBEN) in 2013.

Trouble started when a video made by the Edo State born actress goes viral. In the video which was originally posted on her Snapchat account, the actress called out 'shallow-minded' people who claim that protesters are losing focus by dressing nicely to the protest ground.

The video, which made its popular micro-blogging platform, Twitter saw people who recognised her to start revealing her identity.

This has led to the resurrection of 2013 case as EndSARS protesters are calling out the Actress who is a strong supporter of the call to an end to police brutality in the country.

It could be recalled that in 2013, Carol Afegbai, on May 27 maliciously and animalistically murder Momodu Ibrahim, a 400 level student of Life Science Faculty at UNIBEN.

Afegbai who was the Divisional Police officer (DPO) of Ogida Police Station in Edo State as at that time, had reportedly alleged that the young man was an armed robber.

It was gathered that Ibrahim was buried immediately without contacting his family to conceal evidence of the murder.

Angry Nigerians who haven't forgotten about the case has been asking the actress to reveal the whereabouts of her mother whether she is in prison or has been released.

Reacting to the development in a statement posted on her Instagram page, the actress claimed she has been receiving death threats since her identity became public knowledge.

She said her 'spirit will not be dampened by the death threats and cyber bullying.'

“I am a Nigerian youth and we deserve a better Nigeria and I will continually fight until it is fixed.” she wrote.

Speaking about her mother, Lilian said her mother who is now a retired officer did not kill anyone.

“The police officer (AMADIN IDAHOSA) that was attached to my mother’s station who killed the suspect was sentenced to life imprisonment by Justice R. Irele-Ifijeh of the High Court of Justice, Edo State in Charge No: B/CD/24C/2014,” she said.

She further revealed that Idahosa is currently serving his jail term at the Oko Prison, Benin, although he has appealed the matter up to the Supreme Court.

She add that; "My spirit will never be broken. I will fight for justice and against the system that have put all of us into this mess.”

The actress who shared picture of a document in another post, she wrote; “You should t ruin someone’s reputation without facts....”

Not satisfied with her statement. Nigerians on Instagram have vow to reopen the case and make sure that her mother is jailed.

Some changes were also made on her Early Life biography on Wikipedia.

The protest have continued despite the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a controversial unit of the Nigeria Police Force.

The disbandment was officially confirmed by the Inspector General of Police Mohammed Adamu earlier this week who announced the creation of new outfit to replace the defunct SARS.

The new unit known as Special Weapons and Tactics Team ( SWAT), has also been widely rejected by the protesting youths with #EndSWAT trending on different social media platforms.

[b]Nigerian Man Takes #EndSARS Protest To Apple Shop In UK (Photos)[/b]


A Nigerian took the #Endsars protest to Apple shop as others protest in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

On the busy streets of Bullring Birmingham, the second largest city in the United Kingdom, a Nigerian man was seen supporting the ongoing peaceful #Endsars protest in Nigeria.

He carried out his protest in front of an Apple shop, makers of iPhones, a phone that will get you profiled as a criminal back home in Nigeria. It should be recalled that a lot of young Nigerians has either been harassed, detained or even killed for using their products.

As a result of several these incidents, there has been an ongoing protest for the termination of the sars squad, a police sub group supposedly created for the sole purpose of combating robbery. The group has said to have deviated from their core purpose which has led to these calls.

Nigerian singer, Kelvin Obumneke Nwobodo, known as Tipsy Kelvano’ has joined other Nigerians in condemning the unlawful operations of officers of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS).


The singer in an interview with DAILY POST on Saturday said the protest is not only about an end to police brutality but also a call to end bad governance in the country.


He said Nigerians are tired of suffering and smiling.
According to Kelvin, peaceful protest is the only way to cry out and let the world know that everyone is tired of bad governance in the country.

“The protest is a natural cause. The oppressed are already tired of being oppressed.


“The protest is about ending police brutality in the country. Nigerians are tired of suffering and smiling.
“We are seeking for our rights to be treated as one because we are the taxpayers. We are the ones paying these government officials.


“There are lots of cases of injustice in this country because these police officers treat people badly.

“The oppression is just too much, for instance, if a young person is seen wearing dreadlocks, has tattoos or earrings just like I do, the person is automatically labelled a thief or fraudster.


“This end SARS movement isn’t the main problem because people could have called an end to the protest since a new unit has been created.


“There are other sensitive things they want to talk about. They are tired of bad governance.

Thugs allegedly back down after Abuja #EndSARS protesters brought fierce dogs to protect them







Some End SARS protesters in Abuja arrived at the protest location with fierce dogs and this reportedly deterred thugs who tried to attack them today.
 
A protester shared photos of dogs at Unity Fountain, Abuja, and wrote: "2 buses of thugs came to the Unity Fountain this morning. They turned and left when they saw our security arrangements. Lemme show y'all what some people brought here.#EndSARS."

Hoodlums attack #EndSARS protesters in Osogbo, destroy cars in Governor Oyetola's convoy (photos)







At least one person has been confirmed dead and several others injured after suspected thugs attacked #EndSARS protesters in Osun state today Saturday, October 17.
 
According to reports, the state governor, Gboyega Oyetola, was at the protest ground to speak with the protesters at Olaiya junction in Osogbo, the state capital, when the suspected hoodlums, armed with guns and stones, launched an attack. Two cars in the governor’s convoy were damaged during the attack. Many of the protesters were injured while at least one person has been confirmed dead.
 
In a statement released, the state government described the incident as an attempt on the governor’s life.

“There was an attempt Saturday on the life of the Governor of the State of Osun, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola.
Armed with guns, cutlasses, the hoodlums swooped on the Governor at Olaiya junction, while he was addressing the #EndSARS protesters at the state capital.
Governor Oyetola had joined protesters in the walk from Alekuwodo area to Olaiya junction, singing with them and promising them that their demands will be looked into, and that he supported how their peaceful agitations which is a part of democratic process.
However, while still addressing the youths, the armed men and women started shooting, hurled stones at the Governor’s car.”

Nigerian rapper Falz has taken a swipe at former senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Dino Melaye after he shared a tweet in support of the #EndSARS protest. 
 
The former lawmaker had in his tweet stated that the government has no power to ban protest and also advised them to work with the people.

Musicians, Others Turn Up As #endsars Protest Continues For Second Day In France[/b]

Two popular Nigerian musicians in France, Negoboi and C-Mi, on Saturday morning joined dozens of their compatriots in the European country to pour out to the streets to demand an end to police brutality and justice for victims of rights violations by officials of the now disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police Force.

The demonstration, which is currently ongoing at the popular Eiffel Tower in the heart of Paris, capital of France, also has in attendance other Nigerian entertainers based in the European country.

According to a participant, Mr Olorunfemi Deji, who spoke with SaharaReporters, they are not only demanding the scrapping of SARS and dissolution of the newly created Special Weapons and Tactics team by the police authorities but also the improvement of governance in Nigeria.

He said, “We protesting about #EndSARS, #EndSWAT, #Endpolicebrutality, #ReformNigeriaPolice, #FixNigeria, #Fixthealthcaresystem.

“Everything is in a mess in Nigeria at the moment, we are not happy about this and that is why we have come out to lend our voices to the calls for total reforms of the country. This is beyond #EndSARS.”

Earlier on Friday, the people while demonstrating in front of the Nigerian Embassy at the Victor Hugo area of Paris, called on the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, to immediately resign his position for overseeing a failed law enforcement agency.

They also demanded the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari over insecurity in the country and the poor state of Nigeria's economy, which has led to massive job losses for citizens.

Reacting to the protests currently ongoing in different cities across and outside Nigeria, Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, on Friday apologised for the government's failure to address these problems long before now.

He said, “Dear Nigerians, I know that many of you are angry, and understandably so. We could’ve moved faster and for this we are sorry.

“I fully understand how many young people feel. Many feel that we have been too silent and have simply not done enough. These feelings of frustration are justified.

“There are far too many people who have been brutalised at the hands of the police and this is unacceptable. We must take responsibility for protecting young people, even sometimes from those who are paid to protect them.

Camping tents set up for overnight #EndSARS protesters







Nigerian youths are not backing down and are protesting round the clock, even all through the night.
 
As has been done for days, some End SARS protesters pass the night at the protest grounds at the Lekki toll gate and outside the Lagos state House Of Assembly Alausa, Ikeja . To ensure overnight protesters are comfortable, camping tents have now been set up for them. There are also mobile toilets available for protesters at the Lekki toll gate.
 

 
Despite the IGP's announcement that SARS has been dissolved, Nigerian youths insist the protest will continue. They have released a list of demands, tagged the 5 for 5, which they insist the government must meet to show they are serious about ending SARS and not just paying lip service as has been done in previous years.
 
The youths insist the protests will continue until these demands are met.
 
The demands are:

1. Immediate release of all arrested protesters in Nigeria.
   
   
2. Justice for all deceased victims of police brutality and appropriate compensation for their families.
   
   
3. Setting up an independent body to oversee the investigation & prosecution of all reports of police misconduct (within 10 days).
   
   
4. In line with the new Police Act, Psychological evaluation & retraining (to be confirmed by an independent body) of all disbanded SARS officers before they are redeployed.
   
   
5. Increase police salary so they are adequately compensated for protecting lives and properties for citizens.

Kaycee Madu, Canada's first black Minister Of Justice has recounted how his cousin was allegedly murdered by Nigerian police in 2013. 
 
In a statement he released in support of the #EndSARS protest aimed at stopping police brutality, Kaycee recounted how the police allegedly refused to investigate the murder incident and also did everything to obstruct it. 
 

 
The Canadian Minister of Justice added that changing the name of SARS and reconstituting it without significant reform, won’t be sufficient to satisfy the cry of the Nigerian people for justice.
 
He tweeted; 
 

I support the people of Nigeria as they protest to end police brutality and extrajudicial killings. My own cousin Chrisantus Nwabueze Korie was murdered by Nigerian police in April 2013.


Despite my best efforts, the police would not investigate his murder and did everything to obstruct. I also helped to petition a committee of Nigeria’s National Assembly to probe the killing and report back to the House within a timely manner.


Fundamental human rights like peace, security and freedom from police brutality are universal. The Nigerian government has an obligation to protect its citizens and deliver substantive police reform.


Changing the name of SARS and reconstituting it without significant reform won’t be sufficient to satisfy the cry of the Nigerian people for justice.


Edmund Burke wrote that, “the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” I encourage all Nigerians to stand up and be heard.

Nigerians raise over 1.6 million Naira in less than 24 hours to get a prosthetic leg for an End SARS protester who didn't let her condition stop her







A woman with a single limb amputation got the attention of Nigerians when she joined the End SARS protesters on Saturday, October 17.
 
The woman reportedly walked for hours with her crutches and this touched Nigerians after her photo was shared online.
 

 
Nigerians immediately asked for her identity and how they can donate a prosthetic leg or motorized wheelchair to her.
 

 
Less than 24 hours after her photo was shared online, Nigerians had set up a GoFundMe for her with a goal of raising 1.5 million Naira. But Nigerians surpassed the funding goal and raised over 1.6 million Naira and people are still donating.

Nigeria First is taken aback by the lackadaisical attitude of the government in responding to the demands of the Nigerian youth.

Rather than tackle the issues from the roots the government has engaged in rhetorics and naming ceremonies.

Nigeria First unequivocally condemns the attempt by the state to deploy soilders to quell the protest.

Nigeria First wishes to remind the state that the name is Nigeria Army and it main duty is to defend the territorial integrity of Nigerian and not to kill it's citizens.

Nigeria First enjoins the Nigerian youths to be steadfast and continue the protest peacefully.

Nigeria First identifies with the matyrs of this struggle who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Leke Adeboye Leads EndSARS Service Outside Lagos Government House 

Leke Adeboye, one of the sons of Enoch Adeboye, general overseer of the Redemeed Christian Church of God (RCCG), led a service for #EndSARS protesters in Lagos on Sunday.

The service which held at the protest ground in front of government house, Lagos, had Christian faithful in attendance.

Aisha Yesufu (born 12 December 1974), is a Nigerian socio-political activist, and co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girls Movement, an advocacy group that brings attention to the abduction of over 200 girls, from a secondary school in Chibok, Nigeria, on 14 April 2014, by the terrorist group Boko Haram. Yesufu was among the women protestors at Nigeria's National Assembly, in the nation's capital, Abuja, on 30 April 2014.

She has also been at the forefront of the End SARS movement, which draws attention to the excesses of a controversial police unit in the Nigeria Police Force, called the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). Yesufu has said she "would not leave the fight against End SARS protest in Nigeria for her children."

Unfortunately, many think she is just a street tout who enjoys coming out to rant and seek for media attention.
