Angelique Kidjo beats Burna Boy to win 'Best World Music Album' at the 2020 Grammys






Nigerian Afrobeat star, Burna Boy has lost the 2020 Grammy award for Best World Music Album to legendary musician Angelique Kidjo, who wins the award for the fourth time, with her Album titled Celia.
 
Angelique Kidjo won the coveted award ahead of Burna Boy, Nathalie Joachim, Altin Gun and Bokante.
 
In her powerful acceptance speech, Angelique Kidjo dedicated the award to Burna Boy as one of the few emerging African superstars taking the world by storm.

Nigerians react to Burna boy's loss after Angelique Kidjo dedicates her Grammy award to him






On Sunday night, Angelique Kidjo won the Best World Music Album award at the 2020 Grammy awards, ahead of other nominees including Burna Boy, Nathalie Joachim, Altin Gun and Bokante. 
 
                   
 
The Benin Republic born singer-songwriter, actress, and activist who is noted for her diverse musical influences and creative music videos, after receiving the award dedicated it to Burna Boy saying the Nigerian artiste was one of the few African artistes changing the way African music was viewed in the Western world.
 
Nigerians have now taken to social media to give their reactions to Burna boy's loss with some saying he deserved to win while others stated that Angelique Kidjo is a bigger artist and deserved the award more.

Grammy Awards: Billie Eilish Sweeps Five Awards, Sets New Record 



Pop star Billie Eilish swept the board at the 2020 Grammys, winning five awards, including best new artist and song of the year.

The 18-year-old also won album of the year for her debut, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go, which was recorded in her childhood home in LA.

She replaces Taylor Swift as the youngest person ever to win the award.

"I joke around a lot at these things, but I genuinely want to say I'm so grateful," said the singer.

Eilish triumphed in all of the Grammys "big four" marquee categories - song of the year, record of the year, album of the year and best new artist.

The nominees for album of the year were Bon Iver Lana Del Rey ("Norman F***ing Rockwell" Eilish ("When We All Fall Asleep Where Do We Go" Ariana Grande ("Thank U, Next H.E.R. ("I Used to Know Her Lil Nas X Lizzo ("Cuz I Love You" and Vampire Weekend Father of the Bride"

She is the first person to achieve the feat since Christopher Cross in 1981.

Her elder brother, Finneas O'Connell, also picked up producer of the year for his work on Eilish's album.
