You cant do anything, we will unhesitatingly confront & strike you - Iran's Supreme leader responds to Trump's war threats
Iran's Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has responded to US President Donald Trump's Tuesday threats to attack Iran if there are any damages to US lives and properties after protesters stormed the US Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq, destroying parts of the building and setting fire on parts of the walls.
Dozens of Iraqi protesters stormed the US embassy compound in Baghdad, Iraq on Tuesday and smashed the main door, setting fire to the reception area after US Military launched attacks on Iran backed Kataib Hezbollah, killing 25 suspected terrorists as retaliation for last week's killing of an American contractor in a rocket attack on an Iraqi military base .
The protests continued till Wednesday but later reduced after Iraqi military and US Marines boosted security around the US Embassy.
Trump, after ordering deployment of over 700 US Marines to Baghdad, in a series of Tweets said he holds Iran responsible for any loss of American properties or lives and that the US will retaliate.
But Iran's Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei who called for a press conference on Wednesday, referred to Trump as 'that guy' and tweeted that the US "can't do anything."
"If you were logical -- which you're not -- you'd see that your crimes in Iraq, Afghanistan... have made nations hate you," Khamenei tweeted.
According to Khamenei, Iran - which has one of the best land & proxy forces in the world, doesn't want war, but wouldn't hesitate to fight if it has to defend it's rights and interests.
US and Iran have been on a dangerous path since the 2015 Idea nuclear deal was botched by Trump in 2018, citing Iran's growing influence in the Middle East and Iran's control over anti-Israel 'terrorist' groups.
A spokesman for Kataib Hezbollah, the alleged Iran sponsored terror group, that US targeted in the attacks that killed 25 alleged terrorist, told CNN that the embassy protests on Tuesday and Wednesday were a "first step."
"The American administration should understand the following: the first step was to protest near the American embassy, we are waiting their reactions to determine the second step," Mohamad Mouhiye said, calling for the US to shut down the embassy and withdraw from Iraq.
"First, close the doors of the evil embassy, which we consider a spy building and an operations room to administer and sabotage Iraq's well-being," Mouhiye said.
"We also call on the US to withdraw their military forces which are in Iraq illegally."

Commander of Iran's Quds Force killed in a US air strike ordered by President Trump - Pentagon confirms
The Pentagon has confirmed that commander of Iran's Quds Force has been killed in a United States air strike ordered by President Donald Trump and aimed at "deterring future Iranian attack plans".
Qasem Soleimani, the commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force unit, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy head of the Iran-backed Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), were among those killed in the attack at Baghdad International Airport on Friday, January 3rd the PMF said in a statement.
The Iraqi military said three rockets were fired at the airport, with the total number of people killed unclear. In a statement, the Pentagon said the US had taken "decisive defensive action to protect US personnel abroad" by killing Soleimani, who heads what the US describes as a foreign terrorist organization.
Quote:"This strike was aimed at deterring future Iranian attack plans. The United States will continue to take all necessary action to protect our people and our interests wherever they are around the world" the statement said.
In a statement, the PMF confirmed the pair "were martyred by an American strike."
According to the Pentagon, Soleimani was "actively developing plans to attack American diplomats and service members in Iraq and throughout the region."
Soleimani and his Quds Force were responsible for the deaths of hundreds of American and coalition service members, and the wounding of thousands more, the Pentagon added.
The Pentagon also blamed Soleimani for orchestrating attacks on coalition bases in Iraq in recent months, including an attack on December 27 that culminated in the deaths of additional American and Iraqi personnel.

Leave Iraq immediately - US government tells its citizens after its airstrike killed a top Iranian General, Qasem Soleimani
The United States government has told its citizens to leave Iraq immediately, hours after their airstrike killed a top Iranian general Qasem Soleimani (leader of Iran’s elite Quds Force unit of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps) at the Baghdad International Airport in Iraq.
LIB reported earlier that Soleimani was killed alongside Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the leader of Kata’ib Hezbollah also called Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) in Iraq.
A security alert issued by the US embassy in Baghdad and the State Department after the airstrike, called on all American citizens to leave Iraq immediately.
In its statement, the embassy said;
Quote:‘Due to heightened tensions in Iraq and the region, the US Embassy urges American citizens to heed the January 2020 Travel Advisory and depart Iraq immediately.
‘US citizens should depart via airline while possible, and failing that, to other countries via land.’
The statement also added that US citizens should ‘not approach the embassy’, while the consulate general in Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan, would be open for appointments.
The security alert came hours after Iran promised “harsh retaliation” against the United States for an airstrike that killed top Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani at the Baghdad International Airport.

Iran never won a war" Donald Trump taunts Iran as their supreme leader calls for Jihad following drone strike ordered by Trump which killed top Iranian general
Donald Trump has spoken out following the killing of Qassem Soleimani (pictured above), who was the head of the elite Quds Force and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy-leader of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces at Baghdad International Airport.
The US president taunted Iran following calls for "Jihad" from their supreme leader in retaliation for the drone strike ordered by Trump.

Trump said the Iranian general killed thousands of Americans and should have been "taken out many years ago."
Trump tweeted on Friday morning: "General Qassem Soleimani has killed or badly wounded thousands of Americans over an extended period of time, and was plotting to kill many more...but got caught! He was directly and indirectly responsible for the death of millions of people, including the recent large number of PROTESTERS killed in Iran itself."
He added: "While Iran will never be able to properly admit it, Soleimani was both hated and feared within the country. They are not nearly as saddened as the leaders will let the outside world believe. He should have been taken out many years ago!"
Meanwhile, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei proclaimed his country would avenge the bitter loss of his highest ranking general, while Lebanon's Tehran-backed Hezbollah said it would ramp up its terror "with the blessing of his pure blood."
Reacting to this earlier on Twitter, Trump, who is in Mar-a-Lago for the holiday season, taunted Iran, writing: "Iran never won a war, but never lost a negotiation!"
It’s unclear what the president meant in his tweet about Iran winning a negotiation.
Trump was critical of President Barack Obama’s policy in the region. The Obama administration pushed for the 2015 agreement that froze Iran’s nuclear program in return for sanctions relief as a way to avoid escalating tensions in the region.
President Trump withdrew from the deal in 2018, claiming Obama’s agreement had emboldened Iran to invest in a campaign of violence in the region. He began a series of punishing new economic sanctions that accumulated into Friday’s military action, Dailymail reports.
But his tweet could be seen as an offer to open negotiations with Tehran.
The Pentagon said Trump had ordered the "decisive action to protect U.S. personnel abroad by killing Soleimani" who was "actively developing plans to attack American diplomats and service members in Iraq and throughout the region."
Militia leader Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, who helped besiege the US embassy Tuesday, was among those who died in the US drone strike.

Photos and videos shared online shows thousands of mourners on the streets of Soleimani's hometown in Kerman, while tens of thousands poured onto the streets of Tehran, chanting "Death to America" and burning the flag of the United States.

US denies carrying out airstrike which killed 6 Iraqi militia leaders
The United States government has denied carrying out an airstrike which killed 6 high-profile members of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), an umbrella group of Iran-backed militias.
Multiple reports alleged that the PMF members were travelling in a three-car convoy north of Baghdad, when the strike occurred.
While Iraqi State TV said the latest strike which left three others injured was carried out by the US, the US-led coalition fighting Islamic State said on Saturday January 4 that it did not conduct any air strikes near Camp Taji north of Baghdad.
Spokesperson for the Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR), Colonel Myles B. Caggins III tweeted;
Quote:"FACT: The Coalition @CJTFOIR did NOT conduct airstrikes near Camp Taji (north of Baghdad) in recent days."
Iraq's military also denied carrying out the air strike which struck a a medical convoy in Taji, north of Baghdad.
This is coming after Newsweek reported that Pentagon officials said that the US carried out a strike that meant to target the Imam Ali Brigades.
They further claimed it is likely that the leader of the group, Shubul al-Zaidi, was killed, Newsweek reported on Saturday. However, the PMF initially said that medics were killed, but no senior officials were among them.

Israel Praises Trump For Soleimani Killing, Places Military On High Alert
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered its military on high alert as he expressed strong support for President Trump on Friday, less than a day after the U.S. killed top Iranian military general Qassem Soleimani in an airstrike at Baghdad International Airport.
Netanyahu called the U.S.’s recent attacks on Iran a “just struggle,” adding that President Trump should be praised for his actions, which likely thwarted future attacks on American citizens.
“Just as Israel has the right of self-defense, the United States has exactly the same right,” he told reporters after returning from a recent trip to Greece.
“Qassem Soleimani is responsible for the death of American citizens and many other innocent people. He was planning more such attacks," he said.
