Daily Devotional for Sunday 29th December
#1
RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY 29TH DECEMBER.

DON’T BEG…USE HIS NAME

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth (Philippians 2:9-10).

If as a Christian, you find that you’re always crying and begging God in prayer for your needs, you’re not living in the Name of Jesus. We don’t beg in His Name. Don’t beg Him for your health or for anything. It’s a slap on His face. It’s like a child begging a responsible father for breakfast or dinner. He loves you more than that.

Do you think God doesn’t know that you have a pain in your body? You think He doesn’t know that you’ve been experiencing migraine headaches? Or that you’re behind in your bills? He’s aware.

But He wants you to change things! You have a weapon, an instrument; the Name of Jesus! Use it to effect a change in your body, in your finances, and any other area of your life. You can tell yourself, “I’m not going into 2020 in this condition or situation; I demand and effect a change, in the Name of Jesus!”

“Wake up and be who I’ve made you; realise the power in my Name and use it to make your life ever-glorious!” That’s what the Lord is saying to you, even now! Get rid of the pain and come out of that distressing situation. In His Name, you have a right to refuse anything that’s not of God in your life. Every sickness, disease and circumstance bows to that name.

It doesn’t matter what troubles you; you don’t need to cry for help; speak forth words in His Name, and you’ll be amazed at how quickly things will turn around in your favour. Practise using that Name, and build your faith on it through the Word. It’s a lifestyle. You’ve got to grow in it. It’s an environment to live in. Use it for every area of your life.

That’s what the Bible tells us: “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him” (Colossians 3:17). Hallelujah!

CONFESSION

I live in the Name of Jesus; therefore, all things are working together for my good. There’s uplifting in my finances, job, business, family and everything that concerns me. I’m blossoming in divine health, in the Name of Jesus. Amen.

#AFFIRMATIONTRAIN

29TH DECEMBER.

I affirm that I am of a different breed; I belong to the God class! I am not a part of the suffering masses. God has handpicked me out of the masses; out of the corruptive influence of this world into the Kingdom of His dear Son.

I’m in a safe place; a place of authority and dominion. Hallelujah! My mind is blessed to think right, being the mind of Christ.

I think excellent thoughts, and see pictures of excellence, success, victory, and abundance.

My mind is programmed by the Word to stay continually on things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous and praiseworthy. Hallelujah! I am not a child of chance. God has prearranged my life for good.

I walk those paths that have been laid out for me before the foundations of the world and I prosper in all my ways. I am of the day and not of the night; therefore, darkness has no place in me.

I am the light of the world; my calling is to illumine the hearts of men. When I arrive anywhere, illumination comes, and confusion and perplexity are dispelled.

The Spirit of God has enveloped me and His hands are on me like never before. Glory to God. Hallelujah!

God bless you

*OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL.*

*DATE: SUNDAY 29TH DECEMBER, 2019.*

*THEME:: SONGS OF TRIUMPH.*

*MEMORISE:*
And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. Psalm 40:3

*READ*: Exodus 15:1-11 (KJV)

1Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the Lord, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.

2 The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him.

3 The Lord is a man of war: the Lord is his name.

4 Pharaoh's chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea.

5 The depths have covered them: they sank into the bottom as a stone.

6 Thy right hand, O Lord, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O Lord, hath dashed in pieces the enemy.

7 And in the greatness of thine excellency thou hast overthrown them that rose up against thee: thou sentest forth thy wrath, which consumed them as stubble.

8 And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as an heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea.

9 The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.

10 Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them: they sank as lead in the mighty waters.

11 Who is like unto thee, O Lord, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?

*MESSAGE:*
Today’s Bible reading records a classical song of triumph that Moses and the Israelites sang after overcoming the Red Sea and Pharaoh’s forces.

After they were liberated from the shackles of slavery in Egypt, the children of Israel were faced with the greatest battle of their lives when they found themselves trapped between the Red Sea before them and Pharaoh’s army behind.

At that moment, they fell into a state of despair and murmured against Moses and His God, who took them by His mighty hands out of the land of Egypt. They forgot all the mighty works His did to bring them out, so much so that He killed all the firstborns of Egypt.

However, God had mercy on them, and He overthrew Pharaoh’s plan to return them into slavery.

After witnessing God’s great intervention on their behalf, songs of triumph filled their mouths and they began to sing, even without any rehearsals.

I prophesy to a user of this devotional today: you will experience a victory over your enemies that will put new songs of triumph in your mouth in Jesus’ Name.

David faced so many battles in his life, but at the end of every battle his songs were always songs of triumph.

For example, he sang in Psalm 124:1-3 , saying;

“If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say; If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us: then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:”

Beloved, you also can sing many songs of triumph provided you choose the correct ally in the battles of life.

Our God is a specialist in all forms of warfare – be it ground, underground, marine, underwater or air warfare, it doesn’t matter to Him. What He did with Pharaoh and his hosts is a good example of his marine and submarine warfare capabilities.

The battle He fought for the Israelite's in 1st Samuel chapter 7 is an example of His ground warfare abilities.

In Exodus 9:18-25 , He showed His ability to fight from the air by sending hailstones upon the Egyptians.

Describing the mightiness of God in battle, the Holy Spirit said Isaiah 12:5-6:

“Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth. Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.”

So, if I were you, I would ensure that this God, who is mighty in battle, is my ally, and I would surrender every battle of my life to Him to fight in His own way. Do this today, and you will always have songs of triumph to sing.

*PRAYER POINT:*
Father, I come to You today, please be my Ally in the battles of life, and give me new songs of triumph over all my enemies, to the glory of Your Name.

RESTORATION TODAY

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 29, 2019.

TOPIC: *SERVING GOD TOGETHER*

"Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business." Acts 6:2-3.

*MESSAGE*
In Acts 6:1-7, we encounter one of the ways that the believers in the early church organised their effort. They worked together to form a system. It wasn't chaotic. They didn't waste energy, time or resources. They wanted to work efficiently for God.

They recognised their own abilities and their own limitations. They didn't run around trying to do everything at once. They didn't try to do more than the could do, and they worked hard at what they could do. As a result, the church grew, and more and more people came to know Jesus. (verse 7)

Believers today also need to share responsibilities. No one can do it all. And everyone should be doing something. We need to prayerfully consider where our abilities best fit into God's work. We need to ask God to assign us to tasks that will allow us to best serve him. And as a result, the Word of God will spread.

*ACTION POINT*
? When we serve God together, each of us contributing our gifts and abilities, the church will flourish.

*SCRIPTURE READING*
Acts 6:1-7; Ephesians 4:3; 1 Corinthians 12:1-12.

*PRAYER POINTS*
1. Lord, thank you for blessing all of us with different gifts and abilities in the church;

2. Father, help me to know the abilities You have given me in the name of Jesus;

3. Lord, show me the ways to use the abilities You have given me in the name of Jesus;

4. Lord, help me to know my limitations as well in the name of Jesus.

*SEEDS OF DESTINY*

- 2019-12-29

TOPIC: *ACTIVITY - A PATHWAY TO LONGEVITY.*

SCRIPTURE : “By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through". Ecclesiastics 10:18.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY : Dynamism in life is necessary for the longevity of life; idleness sponsors sickness.

Activity is the condition of being engaged in carrying out a duty. It can also be seen as the state of doing something in order to achieve a purpose or an objective. Activity connotes a state of action or engagement in carrying out a duty.

It is confirmed that *there is a connection between a man’s activity and his longevity;* and there is also a link between redundancy and mortality. That is why our anchor Scripture says, By much slothfulness the building decayeth… The building here represents our body. This is confirmed in 1 Corinthians 6:19a: know ye not that your body is the temple (building) of the Holy Ghost…?

By implication, *"when the body lacks function or activity, it is prone to affliction and decadence (degeneration)". Our body was designed to be active and not to be idle. It was designed by God to be functional and not fashion-al.*

The truth is, any life that is not dynamic becomes problematic. Dynamism in life is necessary for the longevity of life. *A life not fully engaged rapidly degenerates and dilapidates.*

That is why when some people retire from active service and after a short period, they begin to look older than their ages and eventually die before their time.

Beloved, *anything that expels you from activeness exposes you to sickness. Idleness sponsors illness, and when the body is ill, it can die.*

But "on this last Sunday of the year 2019, I prophesy to you that you shall not die before your time. You shall not mourn or be mourned, in Jesus’ Name."

REMEMBER THIS : "Dynamism in life is necessary for the longevity of life; Idleness sponsors sickness."
*ASSIGNMENT (S):*

*1. Keep off from anything or anybody that wants to keep you off function.*
*2. Refuse to be idle.*
*3. If you cannot find a job,"do what you can find (as far as it is legal).*

FOR FURTHER UNDERSTANDING, GET THIS MESSAGE : "Making the Most of Life Part 4".
PRAYER : Lord, deliver me from every spirit of laziness, weakness and lethargy. I connect to Your strength, energy and vitality to function optimally in my life’s assignment. I refuse to perish out of indolence Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

DAILY READING : Zechariah 14:1 to 21, Revelation 20:1 to 5, Psalm 148:1 to 14, Proverbs 31:8 to 9
QUOTE: "Idleness is a sponsor of weariness; laziness is the mother of sickness". Culled from ‘365 Wisdom Capsules’ by Dr. Paul Enenche.
AMAZING FACT : Horses are social animals and will get lonely if kept alone; they will mourn the passing of a companion.

PROPHETIC WORD/DECLARATION : Energy and dynamism be released upon you this season in Jesus’ Name.

*DATE: SUNDAY 29TH DECEMBER, 2019*

*TOPIC: OPPRESSING THE OPPRESSOR!*

*BASIC SCRIPTURES: EXODUS 15:24-26; LUKE 13:10-17*

Verse 26 of today’s 1st scripture gives us an insight into the identity, mission and assignment of the One that I call “JEHOVAH OVER DO.” He said these words thousands of years ago and He has not changed His ways. He has not exhausted His healing power!

This God who is also called “Jehovah Rapha” said, *“I will put none of these diseases upon you…”* NONE means NONE! It means that you will never be afflicted by God with any of those diseases of the EGYPTIANS.

The reason He gave is: *“I am the Lord that heals you.”* This means that He will take those diseases from you, and keep them from coming upon you. The devil is the one that afflicts people with diseases. Acts 10:38 says that Jesus *“went about doing good and healing ALL who were oppressed of the devil.”* The devil is the oppressor! He is the one who oppresses people with sickness and diseases. He is the one who oppresses people with delays!

He is the one who oppresses people with terrible poverty! He is the one who oppresses people with the ONCE-UPON-A-TIME syndrome! Yes! He is the one who oppresses people with LABOUR WITHOUT RESULTS! Ah! He is the one who oppresses people with DEPRESSION and SELF-PITY!

In today’s 2nd scripture(Vs. 16), Jesus said, “ought not this woman…whom Satan hath bound, , these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond?”
It was Satan that bound her! But, thank God, there is no bond or chain that the devil and his demons can use that your God cannot break and destroy FOREVER! THE OPPRESSOR will BE OPPRESSED AND THE ARRESTER WILL BE ARRESTED! You have prayed this year and your prayers WILL NOT be in vain! Keep standing on His Word until your change comes! The OPPRESSOR WILL BE OPPRESSED!

PRISONER OR COMFORTER? (I)

READ: Acts 27:21-25

Acts 27:21-25 - But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.

And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship. For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,
Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.

Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

MEMORISE:

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you (John 14:26)

EXPOSITION

Paul's trip to Rome was meant to be that of sorrow by those who put him in bondage, but he refused to be caged, whether in word or action. He was the prisoner whom freed men looked up to for courage.

Was God not aware he would be bound to Rome? It was part of his mission, as hundreds of people would be benefiting from the grace of God upon him. Sometimes, what we cry foul of, could be God's design to promote us and glorify Himself. Paul was not crying for his predicament. He wasn't asking, "Why me?" Instead of being pitied, he was pitying them.

Remember Joseph in prison, Jesus on the cross with the thieves, and Stephen, as he was being stoned to death (Gen. 40:5-7; Lk. 23:34; Acts 7:59,60). Like Joseph told his brothers, who knew Paul was allowed to face the trial because of those in voyage on the said ship. Don't give up or become downcast when you face trials, for 'No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it' (1 Cor. 10:13).

Instead of cursing God, let us learn to project Him in good light (Jon. 1:9; Acts 27:23,24). Believers must stand up for Jesus in both joy and sorrow.

'For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us' (Rom. 8:18). Because of Paul, 276 souls were saved (Acts 27:37). Who were they? Mostly unbelievers! He brought them joy, rather than being downcast himself. See God in your situation, to His praise.

PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, don't allow challenges to make me blind to my responsibilities.
2. Lord, help me to always see You in every situation, rosy or rowdy.
3. Lord, help Your Church to be the succour the world needs in these end times of perils
