RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SATURDAY, 23RD NOVEMBER.

PLANNING IS IMPORTANT

So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom (Psalm 90:12).

In the Bible, God shows us it’s important to plan. If you read in Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy, you’d see that God numbered days; He gave numbers to certain days.

For example, in Numbers 1:1, God fixed “... the first day of the second month, in the second year...” while instructing the children of Israel on their departure from Egypt. Having plans for special days was normal with God.

In our opening verse, Moses wanted God to teach us how to do it; so he said, “... teach us to number our days….” He didn’t say, “Teach us to count our days.” The word “number” there is an accounting word. It means that you’re accounting for the days; you’re scheduling or organizing your days. For example, you say, “On the 25th of January, 2020, I’m going to do such and such.” That’s planning or scheduling.

Some people don’t plan their days. Many have regrets about their lives because they wasted time doing insignificant things. I remember the prayer of a dear minister years ago, who said, “Lord, you know I only have one life to live; don’t let me waste it; help me live it for you.” What a prayer!

It ought to be your conscious thought that you have only one life to live. Time is an asset, which you must learn to invest wisely. Investing your time wisely means investing your time in spiritual things. Remember, the Word declares: “...To be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace” (Romans 8:6).

Make every day count, by doing only those things that’ll advance the Kingdom of God, and improve your life. As you study the Word and fellowship with the Holy Spirit, He’ll tell you the things He wants you to do, how He wants them done, and when you should do them.

PRAYER

Precious Holy Spirit, I thank you for your indwelling presence. I’m yielded to you to be guided, taught, inspired and strengthened to take the right steps at the right time, fulfiling your perfect will for my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

PRAYER FOR YOU BY PASTOR CHRIS.

I pray that God’s Spirit will rest upon you, touch you, change you, heal you - heal your body. I pray that that pain in your body will cease.

I pray for you, in the Name of Jesus, that the miracle you’re expecting for your job, for your finances, for your family will come to pass - that your expectations will come to pass.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: SATURDAY 23RD NOVEMBER 2019

THEME: CLEAN FROM THE INSIDE.

MEMORISE:

A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones. Proverbs 14:30

READ: Psalm 15:1-5
1Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?

2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.

3 He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.

4 In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.

5 He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.

MESSAGE

It is one thing to look clean on the outside, it is another thing to actually be clean inside and outside. To be clean within has a lot of advantages, while to be inwardly clean has dire spiritual and physical consequences, one of which is mentioned in today’s memory verse. When you are clean from within and your heart is devoid of evil, you will enjoy good health with clean life from within is revealed in our Lord’s teaching in Mark 7:20-23, which says:

“And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.”

In line with the Lord’s teaching, we further learn from today’s Bible reading that only those who walk uprightly and righteously can fellowship with God. They are those who speak the truth from their hearts, and not those whose hearts bring forth deceit and all forms of wickedness.

What type of heart is considered to be clean in God’s sight? A clean heart is one that has been circumcised and washed by the Blood od Jesus Christ. The heart of a natural man is generally wicked (Jeremiah 17:9). This is the reason why every person needs to surrender his or her heart to Jesus Christ for cleansing. The Lord has promised to give us a new heart and a new spirit when we come to Him (Ezekiel 36:26). The blessing of a clean heart is declared in Psalm 73:1, which says:

“Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.”

When God is good to you, your case is settled. David knew this, and so he prayed this prayer in Psalm 51:10,

“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”

Beloved, I am using this medium to introduce you to the One who alone can clean you in and out. That person is Jesus Christ. All you need to do is to surrender your life to Him. Going to church without actually surrendering your life to Jesus is an exercise in futility. Let Jesus come into your heart today, so that He can do the proper cleansing that will qualify you to be a child of God. He is standing at the door of your heart, knocking and waiting for you to let Him in (Revelation 3:20). Receive Him today, and you will be happy you did.

ACTION POINT:
Ask the Lord to create in you a clean heart and renew a right spirit within you.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalm 17-20

Obadiah 1

AUTHOR: PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE

HYMN 6: HAVE YOU BEEN TO JESUS FOR THE CLEANSING POWER.
1. Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing pow’r?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Are you fully trusting in His grace this hour?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

o Refrain:
Are you washed in the blood,
In the soul-cleansing blood of the Lamb?
Are your garments spotless? Are they white as snow?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

2. Are you walking daily by the Savior’s side?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Do you rest each moment in the Crucified?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

3. When the Bridegroom cometh will your robes be white?
Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?
Will your soul be ready for the mansions bright,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb?

4. Lay aside the garments that are stained with sin,
And be washed in the blood of the Lamb;
There’s a fountain flowing for the soul unclean,
Oh, be washed in the blood of the Lamb!

*SEEDS OF DESTINY*

SATURDAY 23RD NOVEMBER, 2019.

*TOPIC: PRINCIPLES MAKE PRINCIPAL PEOPLE*

SCRIPTURE : "But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself". Daniel 1:8

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY : *Those who stand out in life stand on standards; when principles are weak, influence will be weak.*

Principles in this context refer to a set of rules or beliefs governing a person’s behavior. They are fundamental truths or guidelines that regulate one’s behavior or conduct.

*Principal people are principled people*. It was principle that made Daniel to reject the sumptuous delicacy of the king of Babylon. Daniel also refused to succumb to the king’s decree against praying (Daniel 6:11-12).

Being principled is a fundamental requirement for greatness in life and destiny. However, not many are willing or able to imbibe the discipline of living a principled life. The shortage of principle is the reason for the scarcity of principal people on earth today. The stronger your value the more valuable you will be on earth.

Why is it that no one wants to adhere to the advice of a thief or a harlot? It is because they lack principles. A drunkard for instance, has no voice on earth.

*Those who stand out in life stand on standards. When principles are weak, influence will be weak.*
Get this : Principled people are always attracted to principled people. Integrity attracts integrity. So, a smoker, or a gossip should not be comfortable around you. *Your rigidity should be an indictment on their carnality; your discipline should rebuke their carelessness.*

Beloved, to become a principal person in life, you must be a person of strong principles.
REMEMBER THIS : "Those who stand out in life stand on standards; when principles are weak, influence will be weak."

*ASSIGNMENT (S):*

*1. Read the account of Daniel in the scripture*
*2. Make up your mind to be a person of principle like Daniel.*
*3. Avoid the company of the unprincipled and embrace the company of the principled.*

FOR FURTHER UNDERSTANDING, GET THIS MESSAGE : "The principles of principled people".

PRAYER : Lord, I thank You for Your Word to me today. Help me to maintain the lifestyle of solid principles. I make demands on Your grace to become a principal person in my generation Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

DAILY READING : Ezekiel 45:13 to 46:24, 1 Peter 1:13 to 2:10, Psalm 119:33 to 48, Proverbs 28:11
QUOTE: "The principalities of the kingdom of God are stronger than the principalities of the kingdom of darkness". Culled from "10 Principal Secrets of Principal People" by Dr Paul Enenche.
TODAY IN HISTORY : 23/11/ 2004 – The Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi, the largest religious building in Georgia, was consecrated.

AMAZING FACT : Armenia became the first nation to adopt Christianity as a state religion in the year 301.
DON'T FORGET TO ATTEND: The Sunday Services tomorrow by 6:00am, 8:00am & 10:00am at the Glory Dome. Invite your friends and loved ones. God bless you as you come.

PROPHETIC DECLARATION/WORD : Grace to live by principles is released upon you today in Jesus Name.

OUR DAILY MANNA DEVOTIONAL

DATE: SATURDAY 23RD NOVEMBER, 2019

TOPIC: GROWING OR SWELLING?

BASIC SCRIPTURES: EPHESIANS 4:10-15; 1CHRONICLES 11:9

Do you know that: *Everyone grows everyday. But not everyone is growing up.* Growing old is destined to happen to all, but growing up is a choice. Not everyone will grow up.

That is why the Spirit of God is asking you, through today’s devotional, “Are you growing or swelling fat?” Notice Verse 15 of our 1st scripture: “…grow up into Him (i.e. Jesus Christ) in all things…” That means IN ALL THINGS IN EVERY BATTLE, THE LORD WANTS YOU TO GROW UP AND NOT JUST grow fat! Growing up means winning through battles! Growing up means turning lemons to lemonades! GROWING UP requires some effort and discipline! King Saul grew older and older day by day, but he did not grow up! David, the little shepherd boy, grew up day by day till he was able to kill a GIANT!

No wonder it was written that “David wax greater and greater…” In other words, he kept on increasing and getting stronger! He was growing spiritually, physically, socially, politically, and economically. His impact over the land of Israel was increasing day by day.

I am reminded of what the great mountain climber, Edmund Hillary, did many years ago. After his first attempt to conquer Mount Everest failed, he saw a large picture of the mountain somewhere. He walked towards the picture and said, “Mt. Everest, you have defeated me once and you might defeat me again. But I’m coming back again and again, I’m going to win because you can’t get any bigger, Mt. Everest, but I can.” Edmund Hillary had a “grow-up” attitude.
He refused to settle for less! He kept on building and improving himself until he was able to reach the peak of the mountain.

Hear his words, *“It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves.”* Wow! No wonder he became an uncommon achiever! The biggest mountain that the Holy Ghost is challenging you to grow over, is that mountain inside you. Find out what it is and conquer it the remaining days of this year 2019. Grow up, and wax greater and greater. We close with the words of a former American president, Woodrow T. Wilson:

*“Every man who takes office in Washington either grows or swells, and when I give a man an office, I watch him carefully to see whether he is growing or swelling.”* Determine that through every challenge, you will GROW UP and not swell down!

*THE LIVING WATER*

*DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE*

*Saturday, November 23, 2019*

*TOPIC: SORROW WILL TURN TO JOY (I)*
*Read John 16:19-22*

*MEMORISE: _Most assuredly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy_ (John 16:20)*

*EXPOSITION*

As Jesus was preparing to depart the face of this earth, He made the statements in our memory verse for today, to comfort His obviously disturbed disciples. Expectedly, His departure would rattle them, hence, the talk about weeping, lamenting, and being sorrowful. This happens differently in all ages. One is forced to ask why people, Christians inclusive, experience weeping and sorrow.

God allows us to go through bitter experiences for His glory. For instance, Christ's death was indispensable, because, without it,our redemption would have been eternally impossible. Also, Jesus compared it to the labour pains of a woman *(Jn. 16:21)*. No pain, no gain; no story, no glory; no risk taken, no city taken *(cf. Psa. 126:5; Rom. 8:18).* Anguish disappears as soon as the woman gives birth. Joy is the end of our experiences here on earth, regardless of how bitter they are.

Moreover, God hasn't guaranteed us immunity against life's troubles *(Phil. 1:29; Jn. 16:33).* The joy is that He has overcome everything for us *(1 Cor. 15:57)*. Hence, we can go through the attendant pains with His provisions. Of a truth, God allows painful situations to make, and not to mar us. The experience of Israel summarised in Psalms 66:11ff caps it all.

In all of these, we have Christ's assurance that joy would replace our sorrow, immediately and ultimately *(Jn. 16:22).* However, there is no such assurance for anyone who rejects the ultimate Provision of God for our redemption, in Christ Jesus *(Jn. 3:16ff).*

*PRAYER POINTS*

1. Lord Jesus, I trust in Your Word that there is light at the end of the tunnel of my life, regardless of what I am passing through now.
2. Pray for brethren who are going through hard times for the sake of the gospel, that God should intervene in their matter, speedily.
3. Pray for widows, widowers and orphans everywhere, that God should take care of their needs, according to His riches in glory, through Christ Jesus.

*EXTRA READING FOR TODAY: Ezekiel 12:8 - 14:19; James 1:16 - 2:9*
