MADRID, Spain -- Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa will be sidelined for nearly two months by a knee injury, putting the Spain internationals participation at the World Cup in jeopardy. Patriots Jerseys 2019 . Arbeloa said his right knee is worse than he thought "but if everything goes well, Ill be out from six-to-eight weeks." The 31-year-old right back has been a regular for Spain since it won the 2008 European Championship, but was left out of coach Vicente del Bosques last squad list. Nevertheless, the former Liverpool player hopes to return by May. "Hopefully I make it back in time to play in the Champions League final if Madrid make it and the World Cup if Im picked," Arbeloa said. Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said Friday that Dani Carvajal will take over for Arbeloa, who has one goal from 28 appearances for the Spanish leaders. "Arbeloas absence is a big loss for us," Ancelotti said. "Weve worked with Nacho (Fernandez) at the position in case Carvajal gets injured. Nacho is a quality player who can play that role, as can Sergio Ramos as a last option." Madrid leads Atletico Madrid by three points, and is four points ahead of Barcelona. Unlike former coach Jose Mourinho, Ancelotti is showing an ability to keep Madrids array of talented players and egos content despite having to relegate many to the bench. Spain midfielder Francisco "Isco" Alarcon and Spain under-21 talents Jese Rodriguez and Asier Illarramendi have been reduced to substitute minutes with Madrids attack of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale in great form. "All of the players are ready to play," said Ancelotti, who even compared Isco to former AC Milan player Clarence Seedorf. "I talk to them all and tell them they might just play one minute but it could be the most important minute of the season." The Italian coach also dismissed reports that forward Angel Di Maria preferred to sit out against Malaga rather than risk a booking and subsequent ban that would see the Argentine miss next weeks showdown with Barcelona. "Id be surprised if Di Maria didnt want to play against Malaga. Im not going to choose my teams worrying about bookings or things like that," Ancelotti said. "If Di Maria is shown a card then someone else will fill in for him against Barca, its not a problem." Patriots Jerseys 2020 . "I had a pretty good year," the soft-spoken Granberg told TSN.ca with a grin from the teams annual rookie tournament in London. A fourth-round selection in 2010, Granberg is worth keeping an eye on with NHL training camps rolling around in less than a week. The six-foot-two, 200-pound defender may not possess the wow-inspiring theatrics of fellow prospect Morgan Rielly, but nonetheless has a chance to contribute with the Leafs when all is said and done this season. https://www.patriotsjerseysale.com/ . -- Cincinnati Reds closer Aroldis Chapman is undergoing surgery to repair a broken bone above his left eye but has no other serious injuries after being hit in the face by a line drive in a spring training game.STONEY CREEK, Ont. -- The Canadian Football League Players Association has elected a new executive committee as it prepares for the next round of labour talks with the league. Scott Flory has been elected president, Jay McNeil will serve as first vice-president and Marwan Hage of the Ottawa Redblacks will serve as second vice-president, the CFLPA said Monday in a statement. Flory succeeds Mike Morreale as president. The 2014-15 executive committee also includes third vice-president Jeff Keeping of the Toronto Argonauts and treasurer Brian Ramsay of the Edmonton Eskimos. The CFLPA is set to hold talks with the league April 10-11. "This CBA negotiation, coinciding as it does with the start of the leagues new five-year deal with TSN, is a perfect time to revisit some of the past revenue concessions made by the CFL players and negotiate a deal that is fair and reasonable for both the players and the league," Flory said. Player health and safety issues, career transitioning and pension improvements are also expected to be discussed. The leagues current collective bargaining agreement with the players expires May 30. Flory said he is expectting changes going forward. Custom New England Patriots Jerseys. . "Our members have worked hard to provide high-calibre entertainment on the field, as well as a strong CFL presence in their communities, both of which have contributed significantly to the success of the league," he said. "While the CFLPA agrees that we must remain sensible and smart about our business, the burden of financial responsibility is not one that can or should be borne solely by the players. "While we want to continue to play the game that we love, we will not play the 2014 season under the terms of the current CBA." In a release earlier in the month, commissioner Mark Cohon said labour negotiations will be kept private. "Out of respect for this important process, and for our players, I never discuss negotiations in the media or in public," Cohon said. "We are committed to working towards a fair and reasonable agreement with our players. We want to be fair to them and keep our league on the path to being strong as well as stable." The 2014 season is slated to begin June 26 with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers home to the Toronto Argonauts. ' ' '
