THERE’S MORE TO PRAYER.


Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints (Ephesians 6:18).


There’s more to prayer than asking God for your needs. The word “Prayer” is a generic word, but many only focus on one of its synonyms, which is to ask or make requests. However, prayer is primarily fellowship with the Father through the Spirit.

Through prayer, we have the privilege and opportunity to exercise our authority in Christ; it helps us to activate and walk in the consciousness of the divine presence, and enforce the will of the Father in the earth. Thus, prayer is the exercise of the human spirit.

Due to the misconception of the purposes of prayer, many misunderstand Mark 11:24, where Jesus said, “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” The Master didn’t say, “What things soever ye ask for, when ye pray”; rather, He said, “...What things soever ye desire, when ye pray….”

Jesus, in this verse, teaches us the power of faith, hope and love. The Father loves us so much, and Jesus wants us to trust in the Father’s love. At times of prayer, we can rest assured, that our desires, borne by hope, are granted us, without even asking.


The Bible says, “…for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him” (Matthew 6:8). He knows your heart. Really, why should you be asking Him for anything for yourself, when He already said, “...all things are yours” (1 Corinthians 3:21)? Use your prayer times for intercession and other higher purposes of prayer.

PRAYER
Blessed Father, you’re gracious and kind; your glory fills the heavens, and your faithfulness is ever sure. Thank you for your eternal love for me, and for the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. You’ve beautified my life with your glory, and for this I worship you, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for giving me the spirit of love, power and a sound mind! I am super intelligent, for Your wisdom is at work in me.

I declare that fear has no place in me. My mouth is filled today with faith-filled words by which I create circumstances which are consistent with the new creation life I have in Christ Jesus. My mind is continually open to recieve new ideas.

I refuse to see myself small in life, for the One in me is the limit-breaker! I see my greatness, my increase and my influence bursting forth on every side. Hallelujah! I live above sickness, disease, infirmity and death, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

75:1 Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare. 75:2 When I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly. 75:3 The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. Selah. 75:4 I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn: 75:5 Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck. 75:6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. 75:7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

MESSAGE

The topic of today's devotional is a prophetic word from God to you. God is saying that He is preparing you for an astonishing level of promotion this season. You must therefore be full of praises to Him, because promotion comes from Him alone. Speaking on this, Psalm 75:5-7 says:

"Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck. For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another."

As you walk in expectation of your promotion this season, let me give you a few reasons why you should be full of praises to God. The first reason is that God has chosen to speak against your adversaries, who think that without them your promotion will not see the light of the day. Their pride will bring them down, because the Lord is your Lifter. Let David's confession in Psalm 3:3 fill your mouth this season, saying:

"Buth thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head."

Moreover, you must praise the Lord because He is the accurate Judge and perfect Assessor acting on your behalf. He will nullify all the malicious recommendations that have kept you under for years, because this is your season of promotion. Do you know that this God, who is our Father in heaven, specialises in putting the ungodly down and lifting His children up? He did it in the life of Mordecai in Esther 8:1-2, which says:

"On that day did the king Ahasuerus give the house of Haman the Jews' enemy unto Esther the queen. And Mordecai came before the king; for Esther had told what he was unto her. And the king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it unto Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman."

In addition to this, He caused Mordecai to become second in command to King Ahasuerus (Esther 10:3). Our Father also did the same thing for Daniel, who was continuously being promoted in the service of several kings, from Nebuchadnezzar the Babylonian to Cyrus the Persian. At the end of it all, Daniel's enemies, who lifted up their heels against the Holy One of Israel, were nowhere to be found. They all perished for Daniel's sake (Daniel 6). Unless your enemies repent, they will become as Daniel's enemies, and you will be promoted despite their schemes. Those who said your promotion will be over their dead bodies shall receive the desire of their hearts, because you will be promoted whether they like it or not. Hallelujah!

ACTION POINT:
Lift up your hands right now and worship the Lord, who is the Lifter of your head and your Promoter.

TOPIC: DO WHAT YOU CAN DO! LAZARUS WILL RISE AGAIN!

BASIC SCRIPTURE: (JOHN 11:33-44)

Millions of people are waiting for God to move on their behalf, while God is waiting for them to make a move. God’s power is always released when a man performs his role. Do what you can do, and God will do what you can’t do. Moses could stretch out the rod, but he could not part the Red Sea!

That was God’s job and duty. Mary and Martha could roll away the stone but they could not raise Lazarus from the dead. That was Jesus’ area of specialization. Isaac could sow in the land during a time of famine, but he could not make his crops yield fruit. That was the responsibility of Jehovah Overdo. Indeed, For Every Miracle That Your Desire, God Has A Role And You Have A Role!

When you step out in faith to play your part, God will perform His own part and you will see the victory you desire.

As 2019 ends, step out in faith and do what you can do. Reject fear or procrastination! The LORD is saying to 27,900 users of today’s devotional: “Fear not! YOU CAN STILL DO SOMETHING! It is NOT and NEVER too late!

Focus on Me and allow Me to MAKE IT HAPPEN!” Oh, thank you Lord Jesus! So, no matter how this year has been, hold on in faith to your God and refuse to give up now!

TOPIC: GIVE ACCORDING TO YOUR ABILITY
Read Luke 21:1-4

1. And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.
2. And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.
3. And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:
4. For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

MEMORISE: According to their ability, they gave to the treasury for the work sixty-one thousand gold drachmas, five thousand minas of silver, and one hundred priestly garments (Ezra 2:69)

EXPOSITION

We don’t just give for giving sake, if we want our giving to be acceptable to God. We must learn to give with a specific purpose, and our giving must follow biblical principles of giving. One of such important biblical principles is to give according to one’s ability. What does that mean? It means that one has to give according to his/her financial status. You must learn to give in proportion to how God has blessed you (1 Cor. 16:2). You are to give in relation to the blessings of God in your life; not as you feel like, or as you are told to give during general giving in the church.

When the people of Israel were told to give toward the building of the temple, Prophet Ezra kept the record that the people freely gave according to their individual abilities. They all gaves as they were able to do (Ezra 2:68-69). The work of the building did not stay unnecessarily long before they finished it, because everybody was faithful to their givings.

God has interest in our givings/gifts and how we give. When Jesus entered the temple, on one particular occasion, He carefully rated how people were giving to the treasury. In His conclusion, He rated what a certain widow gave higher than what the rich men gave, for the rich men gave out of their abundance, but she, out of her poverty, put in all she had to live on (Lk. 21:1-4). Our givings toward God’s work, to the needy and the poor, and to the ministers of God are not rated by the amount we give, but by the amount we are able to give and what is left in our pockets, purses and bank accounts. God Himself blesses us accordingly, if we give faithfully (2 Cor. 9:6-10).

PRAYER POINTS

1. Open my understanding, O Lord, to see the blessings that are in giving.
2. Give me victory, O Lord, from self-limiting spirit, in terms of giving.
3. I want to be a blessing to others, O Lord. Shower Your blessings upon my life, in all ways.
