Foursquare Church Suspends Boniface Igbeneghu Over Sex For Marks Scandal

Foursquare Gospel Church has suspended its pastor, Dr. Igbeneghu Boniface, indicted in sex-for-grades, from ministerial works with immediate effect.

Dr Boniface, a lecturer at the University of Lagos, was exposed in a documentary ran by BBC Africa, Monday, Oct. 7.

In a statement obtained by Campus Gist Monday afternoon, the church dissociated itself totally from the act of the said pastor cum lecturer.

The statement which was signed by the church’s national secretary, Rev lkechukwu Ugbaja, said investigation into the act had begun, promising to sanction the pastor if found wanting.

“The attention of the leadership of The Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria has been drawn to a video clip trending on social media platforms titled “Sex for grades: Undercover in West Africa Universities - BBC News" wherein a lecturer in University of Lagos named Dr. Boniface Igbeneghu also described as a pastor in Foursquare Gospel Church was allegedly involved in sexual misconduct with some female students of the university.

“The general public is hereby informed that as a holiness and Bible-believing Church, we do not condone such heinous and unscriptural act among our ministers.

“We totally dissociate ourselves from the purported conduct of Dr. Igbeneghu and promise to take appropriate measure as soon as the ongoing investigation is concluded.

“Meanwhile, the pastor in question has been asked to step down from all ministerial assignments.”

Sex For Grades: BBC Set To Expose More Nigerian Lecturers


The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), has revealed plan to expose more Nigerian lecturers involved in SexForGrades.

This was made known by BBC Africa Eye Reporter, Kiki Mordi, in a recent post via her official Twitter account.

“Tonight, we will reveal more lecturers we caught on camera when we post our full hour long documentary on @BBCAfrica YouTube. You will want to watch this,” she wrote.

Earlier on Monday, a 13-minute documentary published by the British public service broadcaster was centered on the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and the University of Ghana.

Mordi, in the documentary, said she too was a victim of sexual harassment during her days in the university.

She said her team took the initiative due to the clamour to expose lecturers in the habit of sexually abusing students.

Nigerians have stormed the Facebook page of Dr. Boniface Igbeneghu, the UNILAG lecturer caught in a ”sex for grades” scandal.

A BBC documentary exposed Igbeneghu via a secret filming which showed him sexually harassing a female reporter posing as a student.

Boniface Igbeneghu Of UNILAG Attempts Suicide Over Sex For Grade Scandal



BBC Africa Eye’s on Monday released a documentary targeted at lecturers in some West African universities harassing their students for sex in exchange for grades. After collecting dozens of testimonies from female students, BBC Africa Eye sent an undercover journalist, Kiki Mordi disguising as students inside the University of Lagos and the University of Ghana.

The story of one UNILAG senior lecturer and pastor at Foursquare Gospel Church, Dr. Boniface Igbeneghu, caused serious buzz on social media after he was caught on tape soliciting intimacy from an undercover journalist who posed as a 17-year-old minor seeking admission in the school.

Boniface came under attack on social media as social media users flocked his facebook timeline using all sorts of language against him.A close family friend has confirmed that the lecturer was admitted to the hospital after he drank rat poison in an attempt to kill himself. In the late hours of Monday evening, Dr. Boniface was found on the floor unconscious with bubbles in his mouth, he was then rushed to Reddington Hospital the family friend said.
