Franck Ribery Faces Ban For Pushing Referee After Serie A Match (Photos)


Fiorentina winger Frank Ribery could be handed a lengthy match ban after he allegedly pushed a linesman after the match against Lazio, MySportDab reports.

Fiorentina fell to a 2-1 reverse at home on Sunday night after Ciro Immobile scored a last-gasp winner for the visitors before Luca Ranieri was sent off for the hosts.

After Ribery set up Fiorentina's goal, he could only watch on from the sidelines having been subbed before Lazio struck the late controversial winner at the Artemio Franchi Stadium.

Moments before Immobile's decisive goal, Fiorentina were adamant they should have been given a free-kick for a foul but the referee waved play on and Ribery let his frustrations be known following thefinal whistle.

The Frenchman was filmed on camera in a heated conversation with the linesman.

He could be seen shoving the linesman forcefully not just once, but twice, as he protested.

Serie A officials later confirmed that the 36-year-old was shown a red card following the match and is now facing what could be a long suspension. watch the video...

Southampton Players, Coaches To Forfeit Wages After 9-0 Defeat To Leicester



Southampton players and coaching staff have pledged to donate their wages to charity, after their 9-0 defeat to Leicester City last Friday.

Leicester recorded the biggest English top-flight away win, by thrashing 10-man Southampton at St Mary’s.

Ayoze Perez and Jamie Vardy both netted hat-tricks, as the Saints sufered their worst home defeat in their 133-year history.

“The squad has been working on putting things right for the club’s supporters.

“As the first step towards that, the group has decided that they wish to donate their wages from the day of the Leicester game to Saints Foundation, in order to help the vital work that is conducted by the charity,” Southampton said in a statement

Cristiano Ronaldo's Earnings On Instagram Will Buy 58 Rolls Royce Phantoms








A research has revealed that Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo earns more money from Instagram posts than he does at his club, Juventus.

The Juventus star has taken home $47.8m (₦17.3 billion) from paid Instagram posts alone in the last one year to become Instagram’s highest earner.

With an annual wage packet of $34m at Juventus, the Portuguese star has made $13.8 million more than he does playing for Juventus in the last one year.

Ronaldo has the highest instagram followers on the planet – boasting 186 million followers.

He receives a reported average of $975,000 (₦353m) per advertised post from brands like Haircare and Nike Football.

His earnings far eclipse celebrities like Kylie Jenner, Selena Gomez and also his soccer rival, Lionel Messi. Messi earned $23.3 million on instagram this year.





To put Ronaldo’s Instagram earning into perspective, the $47.8m, which is about ₦17.3b, will buy fifty-eight 2019 Rolls-Royce Phantoms. The luxury sedan cost over ₦300 million in Nigeria.

Transfer: Super Eagles striker to replace Lewandowski at Bayern Munich





German giants Bayern Munich are in to sign Nigeria international, Victor Osimhen, as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, according to Bayern Munich News.
Bayern and AC Milan are monitoring the performances of the Lille striker ahead of a possible move.

The Bundesliga champions are in the market for a striker as replacement for Lewandowski, who is widely regarded as the best number nine in the world and has been linked with a move to Real Madrid in the January transfer window.
The Super Eagles top nine is beginning to fulfill his potential and his goalscoring form for Sporting Chaleroi saw him earn a transfer to Lille in August 2019.
The 20-year-old began his professional career at VfL Wolfsurg, making 16 appearances in total for the Bundesliga outfit before he was loaned out to Sporting Chaleroi for the entirety of the 2018-2019 season.

Osimhen has scored 28 goals since moving to Europe and 20 of those came in the colours of Sporting Chaleroi.

Arsenal striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, could leave the club at the end of the season, if they fail to make the top four, according to the UK Telegraph.

The Gunners are currently four points away from the final Champions League qualification spot and have a 100% record in the Europa League.

Aubameyang has been an integral part of the squad since joining from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018, scoring 49 goals in 76 competitive appearances.

The North London club have failed to make it to the Champions League for the past three seasons and if the Gabon international has his heart set on playing in Europe’s biggest club competition, he may have to leave at the end of his contract.
The 30-year-old has a year left to run on his current deal and is yet to commit to an extension.

Chelsea vs Man Utd: Lampard sends strong warning to Solskjaer’s men




Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard, has warned Manchester United ahead of Wednesday’s Carabao Cup meeting, stating that “I won’t take this game lightly.”
Lampard was handed a cruel lesson on his competitive debut as Chelsea manager, as the Blues lost 4-0 on the Premier League’s opening day.

However, Chelsea are seven points and three positions above United after 10 games and have now won seven games in a row across all competitions.
Although Lampard hinted he may make changes for the fourth-round tie, he insisted his team will fight for every trophy in his first year at the helm.
“I won’t take this game lightly even if I make changes.

“If players do step out of the line up with a view to the coming weeks, it’s about the big picture. I understand how players are but those who start will give everything.
“[The 4-0 defeat to United] feels a million miles away but I’m not disregarding it. They hurt us four times in a game we played particularly well in,” Lampard told reporters on Tuesday.

FIFA U-17 World Cup: Nigeria defeat Ecuador, qualify for round of 1

Nigeria, on Tuesday night, defeated Ecuador 3-2 to qualify for the round of 16, at the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil.
The Golden Eaglets had produced a thrilling display, to see off Hungary 4-2 in their opening fixture.

Ibrahim Said scored all three goals, as Manu Garba’s men showed resilience to beat Ecuador.
The victory extended Nigeria’s dominance at the top of Group B to six points after two matches.
They will be looking to end their group campaign on a high, when they battle Australia on Friday.

Liverpool vs Arsenal: Emery drops Xhaka for Carabao Cup clash


Arsenal manager, Unai Emery, has left Granit Xhaka out of the squad, that will travel to Liverpool, for their Carabao Cup round of 16 clash on Wednesday.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Emery said the Switzerland midfielder is devastated amid a row with club supporters.

Xhaka taunted Arsenal fans and removed his shirt when storming off the pitch, after he was substituted during the side’s 2-2 draw to Crystal Palace on Sunday.
The midfielder appeared to swear at his team’s own supporters, as well as waving his arms taunting supporters to jeer louder and cupping his ear.
“It’s not easy for him and for the team.

“He is now devastated, sad.
“He trained normally with the group but he is devastated. He is sad about that situation.
“His commitment is great every time. He wants to help. His behaviour was perfect in training, with the group and club.

Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has named an 18-man travelling squad for their trip to London, ahead of the Carabao Cup clash with Chelsea on Wednesday.
The Red Devils recorded a 4-0 win over their Premier League rivals on the opening weekend of the season, but will come up against a rejuvenated Blues side at Stamford Bridge.

Frank Lampard’s team are on a seven-game winning run in all competitions.
Ahead of that clash, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men were seen heading from Stockport train station to London Euston, with Brandon Williams and James Garner part of the travelling party.
Marcus Rashford was also present, alongside the likes of Harry Maguire and Jesse Lingard.

One player who was missing was star midfielder Paul Pogba, who has missed eight of United’s last 10 matches.

Jose Mourinho is interested in returning to the Premier League, so he can become the first manager to win titles at three different English clubs, according to the UK Sun.
Mourinho, who was sacked at Manchester United in December 2018, has been recently linked with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham have lost four of their ten league fixtures to slip to 11th in the table and suffered an embarrassing defeat to League One side Colchester United in the Carabao Cup.

LaLiga: Messi sets record as Barcelona hammer Valladolid to go top



Lionel Messi netted twice in a 5-1 win over Real Valladolid at Camp Nou on Tuesday, to fire Barcelona back to the top of LaLiga.
Messi struck in either half, with his second being a landmark 50th career free-kick.

Clement Lenglet opened scoring for the hosts, before Kiko Olivas levelled in the 15th minute.
Messi then set up Arturo Vidal to give Barca the lead, before curling home an exquisite free-kick himself.
The Argentina captain added one more after the break, while Luis Suarez also got on the scoresheet.

The three points ensured Barca leapfrogged Granada back to the top of the table, with a seventh straight win in all competitions.

Juventus legend Claudio Marchisio and his wife robbed at gunpoint in at their home in Italy







Former Italian and Juventus footballer, Claudio Marchisio and his wife Roberta 'were robbed at gunpoint at the family villa in Turin, Italy. 
 
According to Italian newspaper La Stampa via Calciomercato.com, four bandits armed with guns and a screwdriver took money and other expensive possessions from the 33-year-old and his wife, Roberta during the operation which took place late on Tuesday night in the residential area of Vinovo in Turin.
 
The couple were reportedly heading towards the Bianconeri’s youth academy at the time, before they were held up by the thieves, who requested they return home and hand over their valuables.
 
It was also reported that Marchisio later reported the sad experience to the Law enforcement in Carabinieri.

West Ham's Angelo Ogbonna explains why he rejected Nigeria to play for Italy



                          


West Ham of England and Italian national team defender, Angelo Ogbonna, has revealed reasons he chose to represent Italy instead of Nigeria.

The 31-year-old Ogbonna has 13 caps for Italy and represented the country at two major tournaments but decided that representing Italy was a better option than Nigeria..
                              
Born in Cassino to Nigerian parents who are both from Owerri West in Imo State, Ogbonna's parents emigrated from the West African to Italy in the 1980s, before the player himself was born, settling in the town of Cassino in the southern province of Frosinone.
 
Ogbonna made his debut for Italy's senior national team in a friendly against Poland in November 2011, then played his first senior match for Italy when he started in a World Cup qualifier vs Bulgaria in September 2012.
Sharing his view on racism and why he opted to represent Nigeria, Ogbonna told West Ham's official website : '
 
"For me, I’m very, very proud to be a black man in 2019,”. 
“People can talk about a lot of things, and be racist, but you must understand that you cannot change your destiny." Ogbonna said.
“There is a lot of ignorance, racism and discrimination, whatever you want to call it. In Italy, there a lot of issues, both racial and regional, but these people are just trying to find excuses and to blame someone for not being good enough themselves. They just want to put you down.
“As black people, we are held back by our past, because in our past we were slaves and that can never be forgotten and never leave our minds. However, actions can be taken to change things.
 
“I grew up with Nigerian parents, but I chose to play for the Italian national team because I felt that was right.
“Whether you are black, Asian or whatever, you should be proud. I always say, we should be focused on the important things, which are not black or white. We are the same people. We all laugh and we all cry. For me, there is no difference.”
Ogbonna, also revealed that he has not forgotten his own heritage.
“Of course, African culture and Italian culture are different, when you compare them,” he continued. “And then you have Nigerian culture and English culture, which are different but related because Nigeria used to be a British colony.
“I was brought up with two different cultures, African and European, and I think I am totally open and I am always looking to learn more about other cultures.
“For example, I went with my family to Japan this summer, and then to China with the squad for the Premier League Asia Trophy, and I was so impressed with the Asian culture.
“There are lots of interesting things to know about the world.”

Manchester city coach, Pep Guardiola has been snubbed from the Globe Soccer Awards Coach of the year award to be held this December despite leading the English club to the premier league, Fa Cup and Capital one cup titles last season.
                      
                    
Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp, Ex- Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri, Ajax coach Erik Ten Hag, alongside Djamel Belmadi, who led Algeria to the Africa Cup of Nations title over the summer, and Portugal’s Fernando Santos following his Nations League triumph, have all been nominated for the coach of the year gong.
                    
                       
Allegri left Juve after last season's Italian league triumph, Klopp helped Liverpool win the UEFA Champions League while Erik helped Ajax win the Dutch league and reach the Champions League semi-finals.

Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, has named a 23-man squad, for their upcoming 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho.
The list contains three goalkeepers, eight defenders, five midfielders and seven strikers.

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi, has received his first call-up to the national team since AFCON 2019.
Rohr has also decided to give another chance to Vitória de Guimarães midfielder, Mikel Agu, following his outstanding performances in the Europa League.
Ahmed Musa also makes a return to the squad.

Nigeria will play Benin Republic at home on November 13 and are away to Lesotho in Maseru on November 19.

EPL: Thierry Henry gets new job

Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry, has landed a role in Amazon Prime’s Premier League coverage in December, the UK Mirror reports.
Henry will be among the 40 on-screen names, who will be part of their two rounds of live fixtures, with viewers able to choose from 20 games being shown live.

Others include: Alan Shearer, Peter Crouch, Roberto Martinez, Lee Dixon, Harry Redknapp, Jermaine Jenas, Alex Scott, Peter Schmeichel and Michael Owen.
Amazon have also gone for Clive Tyldesley as their big-name commentator and he is also on board with Jon Champion, Connor McNamara, Guy Mowbray and Ian Darke.
