Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez scored two goals each as Inter Milan survived a late fightback to beat Sassuolo 4-3 at the Mapei Stadium on Sunday.
Martinez struck inside two minutes before Domenico Berardi equalised, but Lukaku gave Inter breathing space with a powerful strike and a penalty before half time.
Martinez stretched his side’s lead to 4-1 from the penalty spot after the break, but Sassuolo hit back through Filip Djuricic and Jeremie Boga strikes.
Antonio Conte’s side held on in a nervy finish to the game as the home side pressed for a remarkable equaliser.
“We did everything right in the first half and should have scored more in the second,” Lukaku said.
“Once it goes to 3-1 and 4-1, it ought to be over. The positive we take is that we got the three points, but we need to defend better than that.”
The result leaves Inter in second place on 21 points, one behind champions Juventus and four clear of Atalanta in third.

EPL: Lampard speaks on Giroud’s future at Chelsea

Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard, has agreed with Olivier Giroud’s comments that he “doesn’t accept a bench role” in his squad.
But Lampard is aiming to convince the striker to stay at Stamford Bridge for the duration of the season.
Giroud recently expressed frustration while on international duty for France at his lack of minutes for Chelsea this season and said that he “will make a decision in January” over his future.
“No, [we want him to stay] because at the minute, he is a big part of the squad. As I say, Tammy has been producing but I would sit down with him (Giroud) because I respect him. But no, I want him here.
“I have had a good chat with Oli before he went away. I always respect all the players, particularly of his age. I was in that sort of low-30s age. I love his professionalism. He was bang on when he spoke to me. He was bang on with his quotes when he was away with France.
“He shouldn’t be happy and accept not playing. That’s what good players do. As I said to Oli, he will get his games and be a big influence for us. At the moment, because of how Tammy is playing at the moment, there haven’t been as many minutes.
“So, that will be something I will sit down happily with Oli in January but January is quite a long way away,” Lampard told reporters at Stamford Bridge.

Super Eagles youngster and Villarreal winger, Samuel Chukwueze has been nominated for for the second edition of the Kopa Trophee.
The 20-year-old was named by France Football on Monday night (Oct.21) in a shortlist of 10 players contending for the award.
The award named after former French footballer Raymond Kopa is presented to the best performing player under the age of 21. France supersar, Kylian Mbappe won the maiden edition last year.

Tottenham Hotspur manager, Mauricio Pochettino has said that he could be sacked if the club continue in their recent poor form.
The Argentine, however, said he tries not to pay too much attention to speculation over his future.
Tottenham have made a poor start to the season recording only three wins in nine Premier League games so far.
They head into Tuesday’s Champions League match against Red Star Belgrade at the bottom of Group B.
Spurs were held to a 1-1 draw by bottom-of-the-table Watford in the Premier League at the weekend.
“Our performance is not as good as we can deliver,” Reuters quotes Pochettino.
“Of course we need to improve. On the other side there are all of the rumours that happen at any club when you don’t win but it doesn’t mean they’re true.
“I understand this business. I’m 47 – why do you think I don’t have grey hair? Because I don’t pay attention to any of this. I only pay attention that we need to improve our performances.
“If we don’t improve our performance, what is going to be the result? It’s always the same in football and you are thinking the same as me.”
Pochettino led the north London side to the Champions League final last season, where they lost to Liverpool, but said he was not surprised by his position being called into question after a few poor games.
“That is football, I’m not surprised. It’s normal,” Pochettino added.
“Football is always about winning today and tomorrow. What happens yesterday is gone and we apply this philosophy here.
“You need to think about winning today and tomorrow… If I think too much ahead and I don’t win, then these rumours don’t surprise me.”

Champions League: Ronaldo sets Juventus target for this season

Juventus forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, has made it clear he wants to win the Treble with the Italian club this season.
Speaking to the media ahead of their Champions League clash against Lokomotiv Moscow, Ronaldo said he was eager to win the Serie A, the Italian Cup and the Champions League.
“We want to win Serie A, we want to win the Cup, the Champions League,” he said.
“Juventus should think big. We are going to try to win all the trophies, we know it will be difficult, especially the league and the Champions League, but I think it is possible. Everything is possible.”
Ronaldo further claimed he was not really keen on individual accolades, as collective awards was “the most important thing”.
He added: “In terms of individual, I have nothing to say as this is individual. It is not the most important thing.
“The most important is the collective awards. If you win the collective awards you have more chance to win the individual awards. The Golden Ball is for me in second place.”

Former Manchester United defender, Patrice Evra, has criticised Arsenal’s “weak mentality” and labelled them “babies”, following their 1-0 defeat at Sheffield United.
The Gunners missed the chance to go third in the table, after Lys Mousset’s first-half strike gave Sheffield United the three points at Bramall Lane on Monday.
Evra, speaking on Monday Night Football, revealed he used to refer to Arsenal as “babies” during his United career and believes nothing has changed at the club since Arsene Wenger’s departure.
“Sheffield United deserved the win, but I’m not surprised about Arsenal.
“I used to call them ‘my babies’ 10 years ago, and they are still, when I look at them and think they are ‘my babies’… that’s the truth – I’m not being disrespectful when I say that.
“They look pretty, but they don’t look like a winning team. They like playing good football, but I was so happy to play against them, because I knew I was going to win.
“Even when Robin van Persie came, and on the first day I shook his hand, and I said, ‘welcome to a man’s club’. At the beginning, he was upset, but after one month he said, ‘you were completely right, Patrice’.
“I just don’t see any leadership. I don’t see any character or any personality. They look weak mentally.
“They have big players in David Luiz, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, but there has been something missing for a few years now.
“Matteo Guendouzi was playing in midfield, but before he was playing in the French second league and he was not even playing regularly – and he’s the best player in this team.
“I respect Aubameyang and Lacazette, but if those two guys don’t score, they’re in trouble, and nothing changes. I’m like, ‘where is Arsene?’ It is the same,” Evra said.

Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane, has admitted that talks in some quarters of Jose Mourinho replacing him bothers him, but insisted he has “complete confidence” that his team can turn around their poor form.
The Spanish giants have won just four of their last 10 matches in all competitions, with Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Mallorca heaping the pressure on Zidane.
Madrid are also bottom of Group A in the Champions League, following a 3-0 loss at PSG with a 2-2 home draw against Club Brugge.
Speculation that Mourinho could return to the Santiago Bernabeu has raged in recent days, and was a hot topic during Madrid’s news conference on Monday, just over 24 hours before a crucial Champions League fixture at Galatasaray.
“In football, people forget what you’ve done in the past.
“The important thing is the present…I’m not going to say it doesn’t bother me what is being said about other coaches, because it does.
“But what I have to do as a coach is to give everything, get the players to do the same, to give everything – and that’s all I can do.
“It’s a great game to play in, a great stadium, Champions League…we know what the situation is and we’re going to try and win,” Zidane told reporters.
Asked if he felt he could lose his job if Madrid are defeated again, he replied: “I don’t know. You can’t ask me that. All I can do is try and be here as long as I can. I want to be here forever.”

Arsenal manager, Unai Emery, has blamed his defence’s sloppiness, after they lost 1-0 to Sheffield United on Monday night.
The Gunners had the chance to climb back into third place with a win, but failed to pick up any point at all.
Although, Nicolas Pepe had a great chance to open scoring, it was Lys Mousset who got the winner in the 30th minute.
Speaking with Sky Sports after the game, Emery insisted they did not deserve to lose and questioned some of the referee’s calls.
“We did not deserve to lose and we conceded a lot of corners in the first half and they scored in one action. Above all, we have to improve by not allowing balls like that. When we have our opportunities to attack, we created more chances than them but did not score today.
“We deserved more from the game but they have conceded the least goals in the Premier League and it was going to be difficult if they scored first. We tried in the second half, created three good chances to score.
“The scorer was with our goalkeeper and we had three players free to attack the ball. They gave us a key moment – the goal and another one when we should have had a clear penalty on Sokratis.
“Bukayo Saka drives forward but I do not know if it was a penalty. It is a hard action for a yellow card. With VAR, the foul on Sokratis should have been reviewed. it was clear but we have to accept it.
“We did not deserve to lose and we will think about where we can improve. When we were losing 1-0, we controlled the game but and defended well but they had a lot of players in their box so it was difficult to achieve attacks. We created three or four chances and we spoke about scoring one goal, we could have controlled it better if we did.
“We have challenges in each match. Tonight we had a big challenge to get the three points. We are playing some young players who are taking experience but the most important thing is to win. The result is one thing, but we can analyse positively,” he said.

EPL: Lampard to sack two Chelsea players for Leicester City star

Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard, will send two of his left-backs out of the club and pursue the transfer of Leicester City star, Ben Chilwell, to fill that role, according to The Sun, UK.
Chilwell has been a star performer for Leicester of late and seems like a player who could make his way to a bigger club before too long.
According to the report, Chelsea are being linked strongly with Chilwell because they don’t see current left-backs Marcos Alonso or Emerson Palmieri in their long-term plans.
This is not the first time the England international has been mentioned as a target for the West Londoners.
He had earlier been linked with the club with a price tag of around £50million.
Chilwell had also been linked with Manchester United, who could also do with an upgrade on the inconsistent and injury-prone Luke Shaw.
Alonso scored Chelsea’s winning goal against Newcastle at the weekend.

Manchester United not for sale, says club boss

Manchester United executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, said the Glazer family does not want to sell the Premier League giants amid reported interest.
Woodward addressed speculation linking Saudi Arabia’s crown prince Mohammed Bin Salman with a takeover bid for United.
The Glazer family has owned United since 2005 and is not prepared to sell, having reportedly turned down two offers from Bin Salman already.
“Based on what I see, they’re in it for the long-term,” Woodward told the United We Stand fanzine of the Glazers. “With regards to offers or asking prices, my understanding is that there have been no discussions for a price for the club or anything like that. Every conversation we have is based on the long-term.”
“The debt is a long-term, structured and similar to some other football clubs. It’s a fixed amount for a fixed period of time which results in it being fairly cheap to service.
“It’s just under two per cent of our annual revenue each year, so it doesn’t really have any impact on us.”
Woodward watched from the Old Trafford stands as United held unbeaten Premier League leaders Liverpool to a 1-1 draw on Sunday.
Marcus Rashford’s first-half opener was cancelled out by Liverpool substitute Adam Lallana in Manchester, where the Reds’ streak of 17 successive Premier League wins came to an end.
It was an improved display from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s United, who have gone four matches without a win and languishing in 13th position – 15 points behind Liverpool.

Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Georginio Wijnaldum and Alisson have also been chosen from the Reds.

Champions League winners Liverpool have the most players on the list from one club with Premier League champions Manchester City the next highest number with five.

Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is also included, as is Real Madrid's former Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard.
When do we find out who has won?
The Ballon d'Or winner will be named in Paris on 2 December.
Luka Modric won in 2018 to end the seven-year dominance of the award by Messi and Ronaldo.
Van Dijk is among the favourites to win this year's award after being named Uefa Player of the Year in August.
What are the game's three main player awards?
A version of the Ballon d'Or has been awarded by France Football magazine since 1956, but was merged with Fifa's World Footballer of the Year award from 2010 to 2015.
However, Fifa ended its association with the Ballon d'Or the following year to set up its own - the Best Fifa Player award.
In September, Messi won that award in the fourth edition of the Best Fifa Football Awards.

Who are the young player candidates?
The Kopa Trophy is presented to the best performing player under the age of 21 and is selected by former Ballon d'Or winners. Like the main Ballon d'Or prize, it is also organised by France Football.
It is open to those who play outside Europe and was first awarded in 2018, with Paris St-Germain and France World Cup-winning forward Kylian Mbappe the clear winner.

Mbappe Breaks Messi's UCL Record As Youngest Player To Score 15 Goals
Mbappe has broken Lionel Messi's record to become the youngest player to score 15 Champions League goals.
Only just back from injury, the 20-year-old was brought on in the second half of PSG's 5-0 away win against Club Brugge and proved instrumental in securing the comfortable victory as he bagged an impressive hat-trick.
Mbappe's now scored 15 Champions League goals at the age of 20 years and 306 days.
That feat has seen him become the youngest player to bring up the milestone, thickmatch.com smashing the record previously held by Messi, who achieved the same aged 21 years and 288 days.
Messi himself had beaten Real Madrid legend Raul's mark of 22 years and 163 days initially, making Mbappe's new record all the more impressive.
The PSG star's hat-trick also made him the first Champions League substitute to score three times since Joseba Llorente did the same for Villarreal in October 2008 against Aalborg.

Former Chelsea and Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho, has reportedly identified Wolverhampton Wanderers’ midfielder, Ruben Neves, as his first signing should he (Mourinho) takeover at the Bernabeu.
Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen and Red Bull Salzburg’s Erling Haaland are also in the Portuguese list.
Mourinho has been without a managerial job since after he was sacked by Manchester United in December 2018.
The Portuguese has been consistently linked with a return to Real Madrid amid suggestions that Frenchman, Zinedine Zidane could lose his job following recent poor results.
El Desmarque reports that Mourinho will attempt to bring Neves to the Spanish capital if he does indeed replace Zidane.
Neves joined Wolves from Porto in 2017, helping them secure a return to the Premier League before impressing in his first season in England’s top flight.
This term, the Portugal international has scored twice and provided one assist in 16 appearances in all competitions this season.

Barcelona vs Real Madrid: New date for El Clasico announced

December 18 has been fixed as the new date for the first El Clasico clash between Barcelona and Real Madrid, following the decision to move the game from this Saturday.
Riots in Barcelona over the past two weeks, led to LaLiga requesting that the game be moved from Camp Nou to Santiago Bernabeu.
Both clubs kicked against the switch, which has led to the match being rescheduled, with a final call on that date having been made by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).
“The decision of the competition committee has come after analysing in recent days the proposals of both clubs, which they invited to agree on a date and who agreed to signal on December 18 for the rescheduling of the postponed match,” an RFEF statement read.
Though both clubs suggested December 18 – a Wednesday – LaLiga is yet to confirm whether that date will stand, given their hope of showcasing the biggest match in the competition to a wider audience.
