RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

SUNDAY, 11TH AUGUST.

WHEN YOU KNOW HIS WILL

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is (Ephesians 5:17).

The Word of God is the will of God. The more you study the Scriptures, the more you know the will of God, because you’ll be more acquainted with the author of the Scriptures. If you know His will through the Scriptures, you’ll know His will in everything, including the minutest details of your life.

Sometimes, when people face daunting or challenging situations and cave in under the pressure, it’s because they don’t know the will of the Father. Peradventure you lost your job or business and began to question, “Oh God, why? How could this happen to me?” Such a response shows you’re not sure where you are, with respect to God’s will. If you’re certain that you’re in the centre of His will, remain unmoved.

In Christ, we’re ordained of God to live as champions and reign as kings in life. The reason this hasn’t been the experience of many is that they haven’t learnt to walk in the knowledge of God’s will. Romans 12:2 tells us about the good, the acceptable, and the perfect will of God. The ultimate is walking in God’s perfect will, and that only results from fellowship with the Lord and His Word.

As you fellowship with Him through prayer, the study of the Word and meditation, you’ll know His perfect will, intent and purpose. Through that intimacy, you’ll become more like Him, united with Him in thought and character. You’ll know what to do in every situation; all your efforts and resources will be constantly channelled in the right direction for the right results. When you know the will of God, you’re filled with divine wisdom; you have insight into the mind of God, into the mysteries of the Kingdom.

Just knowing that you’re in the centre of God’s will gives you a sense of absolute mastery and dominion. You’re unruffled, even when you go through diverse tests, because His Word is your anchor. Irrespective of the crisis or darkness, you’re full of joy, because you know that whatever you’re going through, “came to pass!” Great victories await you at the end of the story. Blessed be God!

PRAYER

Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for the enlightenment that has come to my spirit through your Word. As I meditate on the Scriptures, your will and purpose are unveiled to me; I’m guided by your wisdom in preordained paths, fulfilling my glorious call in Christ, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

MEMORISE:

Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife. Proverbs 17:1

READ: 1 Timothy 6:6-11

6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

MESSAGE

One virtue that is gradually being eroded from the lives of 21st century Christians is contentment, and because contentment and godliness are actually inseparable twins (1 Timothy 6:6), it is therefore not surprising that there is also a dearth of godliness amongst us. The cure to this deficiency in the Body of Christ is the consistent teaching of God’s word on commitment. I therefore encourage all teachers of God’s word to arm themselves with the sword of the Spirit in this regard and combat this issue in the Church. We can learn a lot on commitment from our Lord Jesus Christ. Even though He created the whole universe, He was content to be born into a family that could only afford a manger as His birth place (Luke 2:7)! He owns the cattle on a thousand hills, yet His earthly parents could only afford to sacrifice two pigeons at the time of His dedication in the temple (Luke 2:22-24, Leviticus 12:8). The Holy Spirit also teaches us commitment in Ecclesiastes 5:10-12, which says:

“ He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity.When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: and what good is there to the owners thereof, saving the beholding of them with their eyes?The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep.”

The Holy Spirit is saying here that no matter how rich a person is, there will always be the urge to run after more wealth in an endless vicious circle, unless he or she has commitment from God. He also says that as we labor to accumulate more money, we might actually be laboring for people we do not know, who will consume what we have labored for and might not even say “thank you” after eating our sweat. When you consider the rich people in your country, I believe you can point to several hundreds of families who legitimately and illegitimately benefit from their labors and sleepless nights spent in accumulating wealth. What good have those stolen billions done for the bodies of those who loot the treasury of their countries, not to mention their souls? A poor laborer who has contentment will always have an appetite to eat the modest food available and sleep well at night. Conversely, rich people without contentment do not sleep well, because they are always thinking of how to accumulate more riches and how not to lose what they already have to have to those out to cheat them. For this reason, many of them are always suspicious of people around them, seeing everyone as cheats. Beloved, seek the Lord today if you want to enjoy life in abundance, and be content with the blessings He bestows on you.

KEY POINT:

The satisfaction that contentment give is more valuable than all the riches in the whole world.

SEEDS OF DESTINY DAILY DEVOTIONAL

TOPIC: *REVELATION: THE KEY TO SHIFTS IN LEVELS.*

SCRIPTURE : "He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant: Whose feet they hurt with fetters: he was laid in iron: Until the time that his word came: the word of the Lord tried him. The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free". Psalms 105:17-20.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY : *When your word comes, your lift comes; when your word comes, your world changes.*

As children of God, we are children of His Kingdom, and in the Kingdom, possibilities happen for people who take responsibilities. There are people who have yearned for a lift and shift in life and destiny for many years but they are yet to experience it. This is because they have not taken the responsibility or met the demands for a lift and shift in life. Beloved, there are demands a person must meet in order to experience a lift and shift in life.
One demand or key to shift in levels is REVELATION.

This refers to the revelation of the Word of God (Psalms 105:17-20).

Beloved, when your word comes, your lift comes; when your word comes, your world changes. And when your word comes, everything changes around your life. In Isaiah 60:1, we understand that *light is fuel for lift.* Anywhere you get light, there you experience a lift. Light sponsors flight. You cannot carry light and crawl in life (Isaiah 60:8). Light makes for flight. Revelation brings elevation (Gal 2:2).

Now, what do you do in order to get the revelation of God’s Word?
*i. Ask God for revelation that will bring you elevation (Psalm 119:18).*
*ii. Embark on a diligent search for light in God’s Word (Joshua 1:8, 2 Timothy 2:15).*
Beloved, if you combine asking God at the place of prayer for the revelation of His Word with a diligent search for light from His Word, He will lift and shift your life and destiny to the next level.
Remember this : "When your word comes, your lift comes; when your word comes, your world changes".

*ASSIGNMENTS:*

i. Ask God for a revelation that will bring you elevation.
ii. Embark on a diligent search for light from God’s word.
PRAYER : O Lord, I ask that You open my eyes to behold wondrous things out of Your Word (Psalm 119:18). I ask for the discipline to study Your Word, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

BASIC SCRIPTURE: (ISAIAH 3:1-11)

Welcome to another STORY to GLORY hour! Ecclesiastes 8:12 says, “Though a sinner do evil and his days be prolonged, yet surely, I know that it shall be well with them that fear God.” Also, Isaiah 3:10 says: “Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.” Thank God for His MERCY DAILY!

Insist daily in this 2nd half of 2019, that it shall be well with you. Consider the tips below to provoke your all-round peace/goodness: Never allow the devil or your enemies to see your tears! Chase away worry though they may secretly crawl in!
Worry has never corrected any mistake and self-pity/grief has never brought back what has been lost. Be positive! There is always something to be thankful for!

So, determine to count your blessings even when it seems all is lost! If you can, start a charity that brings happiness to the poor and feeds the hungry, despite your many needs. Honour the elderly/parents!

Uphold the ties of kinship, honour your neighbours and care for orphans. Read useful, interesting and beneficial books monthly! Be like a full tree with high aims/ambition – if a stone is thrown at it, it simply lets its fruit drop. Ignore unhealthy criticisms!

Says ‘No’ to wasting time with shallow people and spending hours in idle pursuit. Say ‘No’ to exposing other people’s weak points/faults or backbiting about them, whilst forgetting your own faults.
Never give priority to wealth accumulation over your own health, happiness, sleep and peace of mind. Forgive your many mistakes of the past! Be patient with yourself and God! Life is in seconds and minutes, not week and years!

So, live a day at a time and be focused on God even in your trials! Make modesty your watchword in all you do in this second half of this year (Philippians 4:5)!

Always remember: This word is never perfect for anyone on planet earth! There is no one on planet earth who is free from all kinds of distress or troubles. Even the most powerful man on earth today – the US president or the richest man in the world also have their problems!

Envy no one! Look up to your God till your STORY to GLORY season shows up! Never, ever quit! Look up to your God always!
I decree it again: It shall be well with you and you shall eat the fruit of your doings in Jesus name! Declare Psalm 128 now! Note Vs. 2. (ODM IS THE BEST GIFT ITEM)!

*SOLUTION OR SALVATION*
*Read 2 Kings 5:1-18*

*Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12)*

*EXPOSITION*

Understanding your mission and commission in Christ will help you to value what Christ values, i.e. the soul of man. Elisha didn’t make mistake because his motive about the anointing of God in his life was not materialistic. Rather it was to bring gentiles, like Naaman to the knowledge of *YAHWEH*, the only true God.

Many people come to church because of the problems they seek solution for. A case study of Naaman who was an army commander, a great man, highly regarded, and a valiant soldier, but he had leprosy. All he wanted was solutions to his problem. He got solution to his problem, but more importantly, he got something more than solution; he got the knowledge of salvation. These following are the three important steps of salvation that he took:

Conviction: He believed in the God of Israel as the only true God (2 Kgs. 5:15). He had been to other gods. He had washed in cleaner waters that were better than Jordan, but he confirmed the God of Israel as the true God (cf. Rom 10:9-10).
Covenant: After his conviction comes his covenant with God not to serve any other god anymore (vs. 17).

Confession: He confessed all his sins before God and pleaded for God’s forgiveness (vs. 18).
Dear reader, do all in your capacity, with the grace of God in you, to help sinners that come your way know God personally. Don’t just collect their gifts. Learn from Elisha.

*PRAYER POINTS*

1. a. Thank God for the salvation of your soul, if you have been saved
b. If you are not yet saved, confess your sins, and accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour.
2. Pray that the Lord should save every member of your family.
3. Pray that God should save every unbeliever in our churches.
