RHAPSODY OF REALITIES

THURSDAY, 25TH JULY.

KEEP SATAN IN CHECK

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7).

It isn’t for nothing that the Bible tells us in Ephesians 4:27 not to give place to Satan, our adversary. He’s extremely vicious and desperately wicked. He operates absolutely without mercy. Therefore, you must be on the offensive against him and keep him in check. Never be casual with him; cast him out, because there’s no telling how far he’d go if you let him. The Word enjoins us to “Neither give place to the devil” (Ephesians 4:27).

Satan doesn’t play fair. We see his viciousness in his dealings with Job. As soon as Job broke the hedge with his negative confessions, Satan swung into action, and in one swoop, he ruined all of Job’s businesses. While Job was still bemoaning the loss of his entire wealth, the Bible says, “…there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house: And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee” (Job 1:18-19). Job lost all his children and businesses in one attack of Satan.


Job was ignorant that the devil was the one on the onslaught against him; he thought it was God, and he responded, “Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD” (Job 1:21).

This is the same mistake a lot of Christians still make today; they’re being afflicted by Satan, and they think it’s the will of God; no, it’s not! God’s will is for you to live in His glory, walking in divine health, peace, abundance, and joy, and He sealed it by the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Therefore, stop the devil from messing with your health, your joy, your prosperity, your peace, etc. All you have to do is say no to him, and walk in God’s light.

The Bible says we’re not ignorant of Satan’s devices (2 Corinthians 2:11). Whenever he shows up, give him no place. Don’t let him take anything that’s yours. The Lord Jesus said, “…In my name shall they cast out devils…” (Mark 16:17). Be quick to cast him out and paralyze his activities in your life, your family, and environment.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for the authority you’ve vested in me to keep the devil and his cohorts in check. I terminate their evil, vicious and malevolent activities in my environment, and declare that only your peace and prosperity reign in, and around me; thank you for giving me dominion over Satan and the powers of darkness, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

1But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,

2 And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet.

3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.

6 And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.

7 And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.

8 And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.

9 Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.

10 Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.

11 And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

MESSAGE

Today, we will be reflecting on an area of compromise in the Body of Christ which the Lord wants us to repent of. This has to do with partaking in other men’s sin, whether by supporting, celebrating or turning a blind eye to their misdeeds. The reason why The Redeemed Christian Church of God is perceived by some to be rigid on certain matters is because we are conscious of the possibility of being an accomplice to heresies. We prefer to give God the benefit of the doubt rather than take things for granted- after all, it is safer to be overly obedient than to fall prey to sin.

Today’s memory verse is strong food for thought for the Body of Christ. Through it, we understand that God’s wrath is revealed from heaven not only against those who commit acts that He hates, but also against those who have pleasure in in those that do them. Some pastors would say, “what is my business if a man divorces his wife and marries another woman? It is their problem, not mine.” However, such pastors are not just witnesses but accomplices to joining of two spiritually incompatible partners through marriage, thereby approving of those who have gone against the Lord’s instruction in 1 Corinthians 7:10-11. May you not be partaker of sins you did not directly commit in Jesus’ Name.

In times past, we were taught that it was not enough to abstain from alcohol; we were also expected not to serve it to others to drink. Habakkuk 2:15 says:

“Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!”

This was how my old friend knew that a change had occurred in me after I gave my life to Christ. When I started serving them soft drinks instead of whisky and champagne, they thought I had gone crazy. Another are of compromise that makes believers accomplice to sin is when they allow fraud to be perpetrated under their noses and do nothing about it. There is a Yoruba adage which says, “The one who collects the stolen cruse of oil is as guilty as the one who actually stole it from the kitchen rack.” This same principle applies to those who allow their homes to be used for immoral acts. Although some young Christians would not fornicate, they allow their unbelieving friends bring their girlfriends to commit sexual immorality in their houses. In the sight of God, they are as guilty as those committing the act. The giver of the bribe is as guilty as the taker of it. Don’t be an accomplice to corrupt practices. The Lord is watching you, and He is coming back soon.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please give me boldness to resist being an accomplice of evil doers, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: GROW YOUR FAITH

SCRIPTURE: We are bound to thank God always for you,"brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly… 2 Thessalonians 1":3.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Faith that is not fed must die.

The Scripture makes it clear that faith is in levels; there are different levels of faith. There is a level of no faith; Jesus said,"why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? (Mark 4":40). There is also a level of little faith; Jesus said,"…O ye of little faith (Luke 12":28). And there is a level of great faith; Jesus said,"O woman, great is thy faith…(Matthew 15":28).

So,"faith is in levels, and it grows (2 Thessalonians 1":3).

Now,"it takes healthy nutrition and concrete exercise to grow physically; it takes eating and exercising adequately to live healthily. Healthy nutrition and exercise regimen is the prescription for body builders and weight lifters for the guarantee of their physical fitness. In the same manner, if you want to build your faith, you need the following":

i. Revelational (Word) Nutrition

Like someone who has refused to eat would die with time,"faith that is not fed must also die. And if the just shall live by faith, it is critical to grow our faith.

To grow your faith, you need to feed on revelation (The Word of God) which is the food of faith (Romans 10":17).

ii. Spiritual Exercise

This is putting your faith to work by doing what God says you should do consistently,"not occasionally. And if you were a midget in faith before, as you keep growing your faith, you would become a giant in faith (James 2":26).

Remember this: Faith that is not fed must die.

ASSIGNMENTS:

i. Feed on the Word of God daily.

ii. Exercise your faith; carry out Scriptural responsibilities,"pray in the Holy Ghost abundantly.

In March 2019, there was the name of the little 7 year-old girl called SUCCESS on the lips of everyone in my country, Nigeria. However, the lady who filmed that little girl is called Stephanie Idolor. She lives in Sapele, Delta State, Nigeria. She is a Higher National Deploma (HND) graduate of Auchi Polytechnic 2017/2018 from the Department of Business Administration. It was her singular post that turned the life of the little girl SUCCESS! 

Indeed, she needs to be recognized for the wonderful job she did even when she is not a Mass Communication graduate. Today, the little girls Success has become a celebrity overnight as everyone chants her courageous phrase, “YOU GO FLOG, THE CANE GO TIRE! YOU GO TIRE” in pidgin English. But the HOLY GHOST wants you never to forget who was used by God to actualize Grace in the life of that little girls Success.

In life, you must know that YOU LIFE, FAMILY AND MINISTRY are connected to others! It was a little maid that was used to connect the army General Naaman to his destiny – Elisha. It was Esther that was used to deliver the Jews! It was Moses that was used to deliver the Jews! It was the fish and bread of a little child that fed over 5000 people. Their satisfaction in the wilderness of life was connected to that boy! Someone gave birth to you! You are bearing the name of someone! The day you die, others will bathe your dead body, carry your coffin and bury you! So you are connected to others! Then remember that the widow in today’s scripture was told to go and borrow empty vessels FROM NEIGHBOURS! (Vs. 3) – “Then he said, ‘Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of *all thy neighbours,* even empty vessels…”

Her breakthrough was connected to her neighbours! What if she was not greeting them, was keeping malice with them or she was proud? Oh! You must never look down on anybody or people! You must never keep grudges and anger against others before the sun sets! Reconcile with others daily and quickly because you don’t know who will be used for your next testimony! Do you know that many have missed their STORY to GLORY hour? As we remember Success, never forget who the real HERO was! She was the lady who was used to innocently interview her through a phone camera! That viral video was what has changed the destiny of that little girl! Pray today also, that God will make you a SOLUTION GATEWAY to others! Peace!
