The police in Kano has apprehended some suspects and recovered about 720 new cutlasses allegedly imported into the state ahead of the governorship elections on Saturday, March 9, 2019.
According to reports, the suspects were nabbed following a tip-off and are currently in police custody for further investigation.
This is coming weeks after the Kano State Police Command said it arrested 950 suspected political thugs in the space of nine days.
According to the police, most of the arrests were made in various parts of the city.
The political thugs, who are known locally as ‘Yan Data’ were arrested for unleashing violence on innocent residents of Kano in the last nine days.
Of the 950 arrested suspects, 750 are in prison, while they await the completion of their trial by the courts.
