Dino Melaye says he will make himself available to the police next week as police cuts off electricity supply to his Abuja house






Embattled Senator Dino Melaye says he would make himself available to the police sometime next week.
Recall that last Friday December 27th, men of the Nigeria Police Force stormed Dino's home with the hope of arresting him. They laid seige outside his home and have since been unable to effect his arrest as Dino is nowhere to be found.
According to the police, Dino has refused to honor an invitation to the Kogi state police command to answer questions regarding an attempted murder of a police officer by himself and his thugs which happened in July this year.
In an interview with Channels TV on Saturday December 29th, Melaye says he is not in Abuja at the moment and would make himself available once he returns

''I was informed that my house has been invaded. Over 40 policemen inside the compound and over 50 outside the gate. My staff were molested, beaten and handcuffed and taken away.
“Presently I’m outside Abuja. I’m a Senator of the Federal Republic of Abuja, I cannot run away. I will make myself available as soon as I’m back to town next week. I am not a criminal, I have not done anything wrong,” he said.

Meanwhile the police have cut off Dino's house from the National grid with the view of rendering the home inhabitable for him. The police insist Melaye is holed up in the apartment and have vowed to do anything possible to ensure he surrenders.

SENATOR DINO MELAYE IS WANTED BY THE POLICE FOR CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY AND ATTEMPTED CULPABLE HOMICIDE, COMMITTED ON 19th JULY, 2018, WHEN SENATOR DINO MELAYE AND HIS ARMED THUGS ATTACKED POLICE PERSONNEL, SHOT AND WOUNDED SGT DANJUMA SALIU ON STOP AND SEARCH DUTY ALONG AIYETORO GBEDE, MOPA ROAD IN KOGI STATE.

· POLICE OPERATIVES DEPLOYED TO ARREST SENATOR DINO MELAYE IN HIS RESIDENCE WILL NOT RETREAT UNTIL SENATOR DINO MELAYE SURRENDERS HIMSELF FOR ARREST AND INVESTIGATION.

Senator Dino Melaye is wanted by the Police for a case of Criminal Conspiracy and Attempted Culpable Homicide, committed on 19th July, 2018, when Senator Dino Melaye and his armed thugs attacked Police personnel; shot and wounded Sgt. Danjuma Saliu, attached to 37 Police Mobile Force (PMF) on stop and search duty along Aiyetoro Gbede, Mopa Road in Kogi State.

2. The Police operatives with a duly obtained Warrant of Arrest deployed to arrest Senator Dino Melaye in his residence in Abuja will not retreat until Senator Dino Melaye surrenders himself for arrest and investigation.

3. It is on record that the Police investigators submitted a Letter of Invitation dated 23rd July, 2018, signed by the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command addressed to the Clerk, National Assembly, Abuja, inviting Senator Dino Melaye to report on 26th July, 2018 at 1100Hrs at the Kogi State Police Command, CIID, Lokoja to answer to a case of Criminal Conspiracy and Attempted Culpable Homicide against him under investigation in the Kogi State Police Command. The claim by the Senate President in the Media that the Police did not submit a letter of invitation to the Clerk of the National Assembly is therefore incorrect as can be seen on attached letter with acknowledgment stamp of the Clerk, National Assembly, Abuja “24 JUL 2018“. Despite this, Senator Dino Melaye bluntly refused to report himself to the Police till date.

4. For avoidance of doubt, attached to this Press Release are the copies of pictures of the shot Police Officer, Sgt. Danjuma Saliu, the Police Invitation Letter addressed to the Clerk of National Assembly, Abuja and the Medical Report from the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, Kogi State, confirming the admission of Sgt. Danjuma Saliu into the Hospital for treatment of the gunshot injury he sustained from the attack by Senator Dino Melaye and his armed thugs while on Stop and Search duty along Aiyetoro Gbede, Mopa Road in Kogi State on 19th July, 2018.

5. The Police Officer, Sgt. Danjuma Saliu, is yet to recover from the gunshot injury he sustained during the attack and still under intensive medical care in the hospital.

6. The Force will ensure a thorough investigation into this matter while making sure that the rule of law prevails and that no suspect no matter how highly placed, involved in any criminal matter escape justice.

I'm Not Hiding Out Of Fear, It's Called Wisdom - Dino Melaye

Embattled Nigerian lawmaker Senator Dino Melaye who has been tweeting from his hiding place, has said he is not hiding out of fear, but only applying wisdom.

Dino Melaye referenced a part of Bible where a certain Prophet Elijah had to run and hide from King Ahab despite being one of the most courageous prophets at the time.

He referred to himself as the Modern Elijah that needs to hide, not out of fear, but out of wisdom.

"The Bible record prophet Elijah to be among one of the strongest prophets that lived,but he went to mount Carmel to hide when king Ahab sought him to kill him cos of the way he boldly declared the truth. There is a difference with being scared and being wise" he said

Samuel Melaye, Dino Melaye’s Brother Cries Out Over Senator’s Whereabouts

Samuel Melaye, brother to Dino Melaye, Senator representing Kogi west,has cried out over the police siege at the lawmaker’s residence.

Igbere TV had reported that police have been at Melaye’s Abuja residence since last week, seeking to arrest him over alleged culpable homicide.

Speaking during a Channels TV programme on Wednesday, Samuel said the his brother’s whereabouts have remained unknown following the siege.

Asked by the anchor about the lawmaker’s whereabouts, he responded: “I cannot confirm categorically because they have not allowed anybody into that house. They shut the house, they are the ones opening the gate.

“My parents are supposed to be in that house as we speak. Dino is not the only occupant of that house, there are staff.”

According to him, “the case they are raising against us happened in July; I was there in the car, the policemen shot at us. I have six bullets riddled on that car. So how can they turn around all of a sudden and say we are the ones shooting at the police?”

He added that the senator’s orderlies have been taken away since “over seven months ago.”
“And because of the injustice on a daily basis, we cannot believe anything they say or do. I believe they are out to harm my brother,” he added.

“They went into the compound, arrested the security man, beat him up, the cleaner and bodyguard the same thing.”
