WEDNESDAY, 2ND JANUARY.

THE RESULT OF HIS LOVE.

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind (Matthew 22:37).

When we teach about the love of Christ, and how God isn’t holding anyone’s sins against them, there’re those who don’t like it. They say we’re giving people a licence to do wrong; but how could that be? The love of Christ never gives anyone liberty to sin.
The truth is that the more you learn about the Lord, the more you love Him; to know Him is to love Him. And the more you love Him, the less you want to do anything that’s offensive to Him.

So, it’s not true that the love of Christ makes people want to do wrong, and think they can get away with it. No! The result of God’s love is more love. And because you love Him, you keep His Word; you do what He wants. That’s what Jesus said: “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15).

The proof of your love is keeping His Word, and His Word adjures you to abstain from sin. Romans 6:1-2 says, “…Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” We take advantage of His grace and love, but not against Him.

Always remember, no one gets to know Jesus without loving Him. If you truly know Him, you’ll love Him. The Bible says we love Him, because He first loved us. And we know He loves us from the message that came to us, and we received that message and came into fellowship with Him. Once you’re in fellowship with Him, all you want to do is love Him, and please Him; you want Him as first place in your life. That’s the necessary result of love. Nothing pleases the Father more than your genuine love for Jesus Christ.

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for the Holy Spirit who guides me in the way of righteousness and true holiness. The more I know you, the more I love you, and seek the establishment of your righteousness in all the earth. I pray for sinners around the world, that their hearts be open to receive your love for them, and be translated from darkness into the glorious liberty of the sons of God, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Dear Father, I thank you for your Word that imparts wisdom to my spirit, and gives me a mind-set for success, victory, and dominion. I deal excellently in all my affairs in 2019 and make accurate judgments and decisions because of your wisdom that propels me from within. I am in Christ; I am far removed from poverty, sickness, death,

defeat, destruction, and failure. The eyes of my understanding are enlightened, therefore, I see the invisible and I’m empowered to do the impossible. I declare that situations that are not consistent with your perfect will for my life are overturned and the works of the devil are frustrated in and around me, in the Name of Jesus. Amen.

THEME: A CHILD OF ISSACHAR?

MEMORISE:
And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
1 John 5:20

READ: 1 Chronicles 12:32

And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment.

MESSAGE

As we start another year, it is pertinent for us to have an understanding of the times we live in, in order for us to succeed. The good thing about understanding is that it belongs to God (Psalm 147:5). Today's memory verse reveals that one of the reasons why the Lord Jesus Christ came to this world is to give us understanding. How then do we gain access to the understanding that has been freely given to us? Psalm 119:98-100 says:

“Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts.”

From this scripture, it is glaring that we need to meditate on the word of God this year if we will walk in the understanding that comes from heaven. No wonder God told Joshua that in order for him to succeed, the Book of the law should not depart from his mouth; rather, he should meditate on it day and night (Joshua 1:8).

The children of Issachar were men who understood the times they lived in. Now, more than ever before, this is an attribute that every child of God should possess, especially in these end times. We thank God we have the Bible available in all kinds of languages and media. It is our sure aid for understanding the signs of this dispensation. In it, the Holy Spirit warns us of the nature of the end times, saying in 1 Timothy 4:1-2:

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;”

Beloved, to speak lies is evil enough, but to add the character of hypocrisy to the speaking of lies is a double tragedy. Our Lord Jesus Christ also said in Matthew 24:24:

“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”

In order not to be deceived by the different schemes being propagated by the devil in the world today, the elect of God by grace must have an understanding of the times they live in just like the children of Issachar. As a new year begins, many prophecies, predictions and projections will be given by different types of characters. As a child of God with understanding, you must be very careful not to be receptive to them all. Anchor your expectations on the revealed truth in the Bible, and you will live a life of freedom and good success in this new year. May the Lord continually be with you in Jesus' Name.

Father, please give me the understanding I need to succeed this year in Jesus' Name.

Good morning Brothers and Sisters....TODAY IS WEDNESDAY JANUARY 2019 DAY 2 of ODM devotional booklet for the Champions.

Topic: WHAT CANNOT BE EXPLAINED SHALL LOCATE YOU FOR GOOD!
(JOB 9:1-12).

In life we try to explain things that happen around us. Science tries to find an explanation for almost everything. Science tries to know the rationale behind every phenomenon. In spite of this, science has not been able to explain everything. There are things that will remain difficult to explain; they are mysteries and may remain mysterious!

Today’s scripture says in verse 10, “Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number.” God does things past finding out. How can you explain how Abraham and Sarah had a child in their very old age? How can you explain how God brought water out of the rock for Israel to drink? How can you explain how a road was created in the midst of the Red Sea for the children of Israel to walk through on dry ground?

And this brings to mind the story a man of God told, of a great wonder God did in his church. A woman has been told she couldn’t have children. The specialist in Obstrectics and Gynaecology had told her that her womb could not carry children? She asked the specialist to put what he had told her in writing in the form of a report. The doctor gave her the report which she took and laid on God’s altar.

Prayers were made on her behalf. Shortly, afterwards, she became pregnant. Because the couple were prosperous, they decided not to take any risk with having the child, so they travelled abroad to deliver the baby by surgery. She was put to sleep and the surgery was done; two babies were brought out of her. When she woke up from anesthesia, she saw everybody looking at her in bewilderment.

At first, she feared if anything had happened to her babies. Later, the doctor who did the surgery told her a most intriguing experience: he told her that he had done over 3,000 of such surgeries and that her case was the first time in his life he would bring out babies from the a woman without finding a womb! How do you explain that? This woman carried two babies for 9 months without a womb!
Don’t try to figure out in your head how God will turn your STORY TO GLORY! The God who makes a way where there is no way and causes springs of water to burst forth in the wilderness will do it for you this year!

Just keep holding on and holding out until victory comes! The testimony that CANNOT BE EXPLAINED is coming out of your life, family and ministry this year in Jesus name! Pray now!

EXAMPLES OF PEOPLE LIFTED AND SHIFTED BY GOD


SCRIPTURE: They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God. Psalm 84:7

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: It is natural with God to lift and shift the lives and destinies of His children.

Previously, we established that we have and serve a God of supernatural lift and shift; it is natural with God to lift and shift the lives and destinies of His children to higher levels. (Psalm 84:7).

Now, to buttress this point, there are scriptural examples of people whose lives God lifted and shifted in order to confirm that He is a Lifter and Shifter of lives and destinies. A few of them are:
i. Abraham
Abraham had a pagan background that tied him down in penury and poverty, then God encountered, lifted and shifted him. He became the father of the blessing and of faith (Joshua 24:2, Genesis 12:1-5).

ii. Moses
Moses was a wanted murderer and vagabond who ran away from Pharaoh, but God encountered, lifted, shifted and turned him into a deliverer and a captain of His people (Exo. 2:11-25, Exo. 3:1-12).

iii. Joseph
Joseph, a slave and prisoner in a foreign land was lifted and shifted by God; he became a generational leader who changed systems in his time (Genesis 41:38-44).

iv. Elisha
Elisha, a mechanized farmer encountered God and his life was lifted and shifted to the next level prophetically; he became a prophet after the order of Prophet Elijah and inherited a double portion of Elijah’s anointing. (2 Kings 2:9-12).

v. Queen Esther
Esther was a little orphan slave girl who was lifted by God unto becoming the queen of the most powerful empire that existed in her time. (Esther 2:8-17).

Beloved, God lifted and shifted these people and He is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). The good news is, He shall lift and shift your life this season. So, get ready for a shift of life and destiny.

Remember this: It is natural with God to lift and shift lives and destinies.

ASSIGNMENTS:

2. Make up your mind to wait on God until your change comes (Job 14:14).
PRAYER: O Lord, I ask that You lift and shift my life and destiny as You did in the lives of people in the past, Lord in Jesus’ Name.

WORSHIP: AN EXPRESSION OF LOVE TO GOD
Read: Psalm 42:1-4

MEMORISE: We love Him because He first loved us (1 John 4:19).

EXPOSITION
Man was created and designed to have passion for worship. In fact, all human beings are instinctively worshipping creatures. If another fails to worship God as his Creator, the person will find another creature to worship. Whatever you love, you worship. The degree to which you love something is the degree to which you will ascribe worth to it. The Scripture says, ‘’No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon” (Matt. 6:24). If you sincerely love God, you cannot hide it and you will be longing for Him every moment.

Worship is not appeasing God, thinking that He really angry with us. This fallacy has gripped our thoughts and robbed us of the true biblical views of God and how He really feels about us. We need to understand that God loves us and His love towards us is unconditional, regardless of all our faults and failures (1 John 3:1; 4:10). 

We simply go to Him with a thankful heart and begin to love Him back. Loving God is what true worship is all about (Luke 7:36:50). It is also a wrong motive to worship God because of what you want to get from Him. God sees into our deepest motives and is disappointed when we worship Him, only in order to get things from Him. A true worshipper who loves God will remain faithful to God, even if He does not bless him or her. Remember the three Hebrew boys in the Bible (Dan. 3:16-25).

Worship is having extravagant love for God. Our extravagant love and extreme submission to God flow out of the reality that God loved us first. Worship is expressing your love for God in various ways. Therefore, whatever you love more than God, has taken the place of God in your life. If you love God you will not be ashamed of Him. If you love God you will always like to be in His presence with genuine heart of worship (Ps. 119:164). If you love God, you cannot help but keep your daily appointment with Him in your prayer and reading of the Word. If you truly love God, you will completely offer your whole life to Him as a living sacrifice (Rom. 12:1).

PRAYER POINTS

1. My father, give me the capacity to love you more with all my heart, soul, mind and strength.
2. Create in me, Oh Lord, a new heart to give you reasonable worship.
3. Lord, let there be revival of true worship in all our local assemblies as of old.
