‘why Zidane Should Not Sign Eden Hazard’- Chris Sutton


Former Chelsea and Aston Villa star, Chris Sutton has advised Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane to abandon his pursuit of Eden Hazard and instead sign Manchester City player, Raheem Sterling.

Zidane has made Hazard his top priority in his first transfer window since his return to the dugout at the Santiago Bernabeu, but Sutton believes he is targeting the wrong Premier League attacker.

However, Sutton hailed Sterling as ‘world class’ in the aftermath of England’s 5-1 rout in Montenegro, where the Manchester City star ran the show while bagging a late goal.

“You have to say that Raheem Sterling is now world class,” Sutton told the Daily Mail.

“If you were Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, surely you would want to buy him over Eden Hazard. Is there anything Sterling cannot do? His weight of pass is superb, his movement off the ball is lethal and he has become deadly in front of goal.

“What defender in the world would want to face Sterling in this form? It doesn’t matter if you take him on or back off — either way he will destroy you.

“He is still just 24 and improving year on year. His wonderful performances for England in the last two games have confirmed that he can thrive on the international stage.

“Sterling is one of the hottest properties in world football. If I was Real Madrid, I’d be making him my No1 target.”

Breaking! Manchester United appoint Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as permanent coach on 3 -years-deal after 14 wins from 19 games






Premiership club, Manchester United has appointed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as permanent coach on a three-year contract after impressing as caretaker manager.
 
The club legend returned to Old Trafford in December, after Jose Mourinho sacking and has since then led his side to 14 wins from 19 games. 
 
His deal is said to worth around £7million a year, less than half the £18m basic the club were understood to have been paying the Norwegian's predecessor Jose Mourinho.
 
'From the first day I arrived, I felt at home at this special club,' said Solskjaer in a statement on the club website.
'It was an honour to be a Manchester United player, and then to start my coaching career here. The last few months have been a fantastic experience and I want to thank all of the coaches, players and staff for the work we've done so far.
'This is the job that I always dreamed of doing and I'm beyond excited to have the chance to lead the club long-term and hopefully deliver the continued success that our amazing fans deserve.' 
Solskjaer added: 'It's truly an honour, I have spoken about it in the last few months, it is the dream job for any football-interested man, for anybody involved with Manchester United.
'I have been given the opportunity now to move the club forward. With all the potential there is, it is fantastic.'

Super Eagles coach, Rohr names four strikers to represent Nigeria in Egypt

Head coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr has disclosed the four strikers that will represent Nigeria at the 2019 African Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Egypt.

The AFCON will begin on 21st June with the final set for 19th July.

According to Rohr, the four strikers that will represent Nigeria in Egypt are: Odion Ighalo, Paul Onuachu, Victor Osimhen, and Kelechi Iheanacho.

Speaking on the strikers that will represent Nigeria in Egypt, Rohr was quoted by Allnigeriasoccer as saying: ”On strikers, we are very happy with what Osimhen did against Libya. He was supposed to play with us against Egypt on Tuesday, to come in at least but he played on Monday against Libya so he was not in the game. No injury.

”For Ighalo, his ankle is getting better and he was ready to help at the end of the match against Egypt. Also Paul Onuachu.

”We now have three good strikers, also we have Kelechi with a left foot.

”We don’t have a striker with a left foot, it will be interesting with Kelechi fighting and showing a professional attitude.”

Australia and Everton legend Tim Cahill retires from football at the age of 39






Australian and  Everton legend, Tim Cahill,has announced his retirement from football at the age of 39.
The announcement comes, after formel Millwall midfielder retired from internationals in November, ending a career in which he became Australia's leading scorer with 50 goals from 108 appearances.
He last played for Jamshedpur in the Indian Super League, scoring two goals in 11 games before his contract ended.
Speaking with Australia's Optus Sport, he said: No, I'm an old man now in football years. 'I'd love to keep playing, you know 39, had a great stint for six months in India.
'But I'm interested in TV, going to start my A (coaching) license and spend quality time with my family and chill out for a bit.'
'It was amazing to play in four big continents,' Cahill said. 'I had a great career and I'm really thankful.
'I'm someone that massively respects the game and I'll take my time to learn more. Coaching is something that's definitely going to be on the horizon.'
Cahill played more than 200 matches for both Everton and Millwall in a career in England from 1998 to 2012. He later played for the New York Red Bulls in MLS and in China for Shanghai Shenhua and Zhejiang Greentownbefore returning to Australia to play for Melbourne City in the A-League.

The rivalry between Lionel Messi andCristiano Ronaldo in Spain ended after the Portuguese left Real Madrid for Juventus last summer in a staggering £100million deal.
 
Now, his fierce rival, Lionel Messi has admitted he wishes Ronaldo was still in La Liga.
'I miss Cristiano,' Messi told FM Club 947 in Argentina. 'Although it was a bit difficult to see him win trophies, he gave La Liga prestige.
'Juventus are a great candidate to win the Champions League since the arrival of Cristiano, and the match against Atleti must have given them a lot of confidence.'
 
The Barcelona captain also went on to name a list of players who he feels are at the top of their game at the moment.
'I don't want to forget anyone, but I think that Neymar, [Kylian] Mbappe, [Eden] Hazard, Luis Suarez and [Sergio] Aguero are the best,' he added.
'I didn't mention Cristiano because I put him aside from the list with me.'
 
Reacting to criticism aimed him after he pulled out of Argentina's win over Moroccothis week and travelled back to Barcelona.
'Somebody says whatever they want to say about me and then people believe it and I'm painted as the son of a b****,' he said.
'It has become the custom to say things about me. They invent things about me when I am not there. Nothing surprises me.
'The truth is I came back to the Argentina team with a pubis injury that I have been carrying since December and I have been training less and not playing all games.
'Pubis injuries are complicated; you cannot shake them off from one day to the next. I feel better but I have to take care of myself.
'I wanted to play both games with Argentina but after the first game I had some pain and I decided to rest so as not to aggravate the injury. It is improving all the time but it is not completely cleared up.'

EPL: Chelsea urged to sack Sarri following 2-1 win at Cardiff City


BT Sport pundit, Chris Sutton, has told Chelsea to sack manager Maurizio Sarri, for resting Eden Hazard against Cardiff City on Sunday.

Hazard and N’Golo Kante were both named on the bench for their 2-1 win in Wales.
Despite going behind shortly after half-time, the Blues earned all three points, after scoring two goals in the last six minutes of the match.

But Sutton says the Chelsea board “must be running out of patience” with Sarri.
“Maurizio Sarri got lucky in Cardiff. If it were not for the assistant referee, Chelsea would have been fortunate to escape with a point.
“Sarri may get lucky again and win the Europa League. Even if he does – securing Champions League football in the process – this abject performance only highlights why he cannot be the man to lead Chelsea next season.

“His decisions are becoming increasingly erratic.
“There are no easy games at this stage of a Premier League season, especially against a Cardiff side battling against relegation, so why leave out your best player?
“If Sarri wanted to rest Eden Hazard, would it not have been better to start him, win the game early on and then take him off with half an hour to go?

“The reaction of the Chelsea supporters who made the trip to South Wales shows they have lost faith in their manager.
“If they haven’t already, the board must be rapidly running out of patience, too,” Sutton wrote in the Daily Mail.

Transfer: Herrera agrees £200,000-a-week deal to leave Man Utd for PSG

Ander Herrera has reportedly agreed to sign for Paris Saint-Germain this summer, after growing frustrated with Manchester United’s offer.

United refused to sanction Herrera’s £200,000-a-week wage demands, despite PSG’s attempts to land the Spanish midfielder on a free transfer.
The 29-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and was demanding a big increase to his current £130,000-a-week salary, to stay with the Old Trafford giants.

United were prepared to hand him around £170,000-a-week including bonuses.
However, Mirror Sport reports that Herrera has reached a pre-contract agreement with the French champions and will join them July 1.

Juventus star, Cristiano Ronaldo will miss his side’s Champions League quarter-finals first and second-leg ties against Ajax later this month.

Ronaldo will also miss the Champions League semi-finals ties should Juventus progress from the last eight.
Livesoccertv reports that the Portugal captain will be out of action for two months.

This means that Ronaldo will miss Juventus’ fixtures against Cagliari, AC Milan, Ajax, SPAL, Forentina, Inter Milan, Torino, Roma, Atalanta and Sampdoria.
Ronaldo sustained an injury during Portugal’s 1-1 draw with Serbia in the Euro 2020 qualifying match last month.
The 34-year-old pulled off after clutching his thigh in the 30th minute, with his side trailing behind Dusan Tadic’s penalty, and after receiving treatment, he eventually hobbled down the tunnel and was replaced by Pizzi.
Despite the absence of Ronaldo, Portugal managed to level the scores, after a stunning strike from Danilo Pereira, making them share the points with the visitors.

EPL: Solskjaer advised on new Man Utd captain after Valencia leaves

Former Tottenham Hotspur star, Jamie Redknapp, has urged Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to make midfielder, Paul Pogba, the new Red Devils captain after Antonio Valencia leaves Old Trafford this summer.

Redknapp stated this ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Wolves on Tuesday.


Redknapp believes the only way Solskjaer can keep Pogba at the club next season amid interest from Real Madrid is to make the France international the new Man United captain after Valencia leaves Old Trafford at the end of the season.
“The most important bit of business Solskjaer can do this summer is to keep hold of Paul Pogba,” Redknapp told Daily Mail.
“A couple of months ago, when Pogba was inspiring United’s astonishing revival under Solskjaer, the midfielder’s future did not seem in doubt.

“The return of Zinedine Zidane to Real Madrid has changed that. Pogba himself has said that he would be open to a move to the Bernabeu once his time in Manchester has ended.
“He may well feel that this summer is the right time to leave. Failure to qualify for the Champions League may not prevent United from attracting the best players but it could convince Pogba to go.”
Redknapp added: “Replacing a player who has contributed 11 goals and nine assists from midfield in the league this season is no mean feat.

“I have argued before that they should make him captain and, with club captain Antonio Valencia set to leave, this is the perfect time to give Pogba the armband.”

Arsenal are now third on the Premier League, following their 2-0 win over Newcastle on Monday night.

The Gunners came into the game in sixth place, knowing that if they avoid defeat, they will overtake both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Aaron Ramsey, who was captain for the day, opened scoring in the first half, as Unai Emery’s men seized control of the fixture at the Emirates.

However, Arsenal had to wait until the second half to seal victory, through Alexandre Lacazette’s delicate lob.
The victory took them up to 63 points, two more than United and Spurs.

Gareth Bale Real Madrid Career Put In Fresh Doubt By Zidane

Zinedine Zidane has left Gareth Bale’s Real Madrid future in question by refusing to back the Wales star.

Bernabeu boss Zidane , who quit the role last summer but has now returned after the failures of successor Julen Lopetegui and caretaker Santi Solari, said talk over Bale’s situation with the Spanish giants will have to wait until the end of the season.

His statements on Bale are in stark contrast to those he’s made about fellow unsettled stars Raphael Varane and Marcelo, who Zidane quickly confirmed are important to his plans.


“Gareth’s future and other players, we’ll talk about that at the end of the season,” he said, with Madrid already out of the Champions League after winning it in all three of his seasons as coach and just third in La Liga — 12 points behind leaders and arch-rivals Barcelona .

“I can confirm that we will have to make changes next season, but now is not the time to talk about it.”


Bale has endured a difficult season and been on the receiving end of harsh treatment from his own fans and teammates, sparking a furious reaction in defence of the 29 year-old from his agent, Jonathan Barnett.

Barnett has also confirmed Bale wants to stay at the Bernabeu for the rest of his playing days.

Zidane’s return was another setback for the former Tottenham star, whose relationship with the Frenchman was strained by the end of his first spell in charge.

Last month, Barnett admitted: “Gareth wanted to play one way and Zidane wanted to play another. That was the cause of it and over a period of time it got worse.”

Bale, who has a won a string of trophies and scored over 100 goals since his 2013 move to Madrid, was jeered once more during Sunday’s underwhelming win over rock-bottom Huesca.

But iconic former Madrid player Zidane did say he believes Bale has the character to cope.

He said: “I know whistles. It’s never good. You have to accept it. I was whistled. You have to have the character for it and I think the players that are here have sufficient character to deal with it.”

Real Madrid Launches €525M Bernabeu Stadium Redevelopment

Real Madrid have officially launched plans for the redevelopment of the Santiago Bernabeu stadium at a presentation attended by Madrid mayor Manuela Carmena on Tuesday afternoon.

Already seven years in the making, Real were given the go-ahead for the work by the Madrid city council last week and work is expected to begin soon on the project, which it is estimated will cost between €525m and €575m to complete.

There have been previous false dawns for the renovation, but El Pais noted on Monday of this week that there are ‘no fears this is not the definitive start’.


The most striking part of the future Bernabeu, which AS explains is scheduled for completion in 2022 but could actually take four or even five years, is the retractable roof.

The whole stadium will be wrapped in stainless steel, while president Florentino Perez estimated last year that the new commercial space will help bring in €150m in additional annual revenue.


A maximum of €575m has been borrowed for the project, with Real set to pay that figure back at a fixed interest rate over a period of up to 35 years.

“This act is the definitive start of the countdown to launch an authentic architectural innovation in our stadium,” Perez said at the launch event in the stadium’s royal box, via RealMadrid.com.

“A Santiago Bernabeu stadium that will become a great avant-garde and universal icon. Located in the heart of Madrid, it will be the best stadium in the world. We are facing one of the great projects of the future for Real Madrid and, of course, it will be also for the city of Madrid.”

Perez referenced ‘maximum comfort and safety’, as well as ‘state-of-the-art technology’.

“A new stadium that will allow us to continue growing and that will be financed with the new revenues that the reform will generate,” the club chief added.

“The new Santiago Bernabéu stadium will entail an important improvement for the club, but also for its surroundings. And it will allow Real Madrid to remain competitive in an increasingly difficult international football scenario.”

Guardiola places faith in Jesus with Aguero injured

Manchester City will be without injured leading scorer Sergio Aguero as they try to regain the advantage in the Premier League title race against struggling Cardiff on Wednesday.

A thigh injury means the Premier League’s leading marksman — he has 19 goals to his name — will sit it out with Brazil star Gabriel Jesus taking his place.

Victory over a side they thrashed 5-0 in the away fixture earlier this season would see City leapfrog Liverpool to lead the title race by a point, with both having played the same number of games.


City manager Pep Guardiola admitted Aguero faces a race to be fit for the FA Cup semi-final with Brighton on Saturday and the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final away to Tottenham next Tuesday.

“Tomorrow (Wednesday) Sergio is not able to play,” said Guardiola. “He didn’t train the last two days.

“Hopefully he can on Saturday or next Tuesday. We will see his evolution in the next few days.”

Guardiola, whose side is bidding for a historic quadruple in winning the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Champions League to add to their League Cup success already this term, has faith in Jesus being able to fill in for Aguero.

“Gabriel is ready,” said Guardiola. “He is having a good season and it is not always easy to play in this club as a striker in the same position as Sergio.

“He is fighting against one legend and an incredible top player in his best season since we have been at the club.

“When Gabriel played, he played well. Tomorrow he is going to help us and fight and score goals and create space for others.”

City might still have been top but for a late error by France’s World Cup-winning captain Hugo Lloris gifting Liverpool all three points on Sunday in a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

“When you see that, you say ‘Ah shit’,” he said.

“But after five or ten minutes, you think it’s a nice but terrible challenge.

“Nobody said it would be easy. Nobody. We knew it and I knew it.

“Everybody is excited for what we are going to live in the next weeks.

“Let’s beat Cardiff for the main target to go back top of the league with six games left.

Cardiff await Nantes response over Sala talks

Premier League club Cardiff have requested a meeting with French outfit Nantes to resolve their dispute over Emiliano Sala’s transfer fee, the Welsh-based side said on Wednesday.

Cardiff also obtained from the world governing body FIFA — to whom Nantes had referred the case — an extension to the Wednesday deadline for the two clubs to hand over evidence, so they could rule on it, to April 15.

Sala, 28, died along with the pilot David Ibbotson when the Piper Malibu aircraft they were travelling in came down in the English Channel on January 21, two days after Cardiff had signed the Argentinian striker for a club record £15million ($19.7million) from Nantes.


Since the tragedy, both clubs have engaged in an unedifying war of words over the fee with a source close to Cardiff telling The Daily Telegraph last week they do not owe anything as they consider the contract to be “null and void”.

The Daily Telegraph said Sala signed a contract with Cardiff that was rejected by the Premier League and died before a revised one could be signed, adding there is a dispute about whether he had agreed to sign a new deal.

The Premier League club sounded a more conciliatory note on Wednesday issuing a statement to say they were willing to talk directly to the French side.

“Cardiff City has requested and been granted an extension to the deadline to respond to Fifa on this matter.

“Cardiff City recently wrote to FC Nantes proposing a meeting to discuss issues surrounding the Emiliano Sala tragedy and planned transfer, in line with Fifa’s request for our two clubs to come to a resolution directly.

“To date, Cardiff City has not received a response from FC Nantes.”

Nantes reportedly plan to dispute Cardiff’s case, saying the club completed the required paperwork.

Chelsea to sign Hazard’s replacement for £142m

Chelsea are willing to sign Barcelona ace, Philippe Coutinho for £142million as Eden Hazard’s replacement at Stamford Bridge.


Akelicious recalls that Coutinho had drawn interests from Man United and Chelsea over the past few months.

The midfielder has already told his Brazil teammates that he is considering leaving Ernesto Valverde’s side this summer.


According to Sport, Chelsea are planning to use the transfer fee they received from Hazard, who is set to join Real Madrid at the end of the season, to fund a move for Coutinho once their transfer ban is delayed this summer.

The Spanish newspaper also claimed that Coutinho would welcome the chance to play for Maurizio Sarri’s side as he would like to link up with the likes of Willian, David Luiz, as well as Brazil-born duo, Jorginho and Emerson Palmieri at the West London club.

Juventus striker, Mario Mandzukic signs new two-year deal until 2021 (Photos)



 



Croatian striker, Mario Mandzukic has signed a new contract at Juventus that will keep him with the Serie A champions until 2021.
The 32-year-old who has scored 43 goals in 159 appearances in all competitions since joining the club from Atlético Madrid in 2015, signed the deal this afternoon in Turin.
 

Mandzukic who teams up with Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala to form a deadly attacking trio for Juventus is the club’s second-leading scorer in Serie A behind Ronaldo, recording eight goals and six assists in 23 appearances so far this season.

Manchester United are reportedly ready to open talks with Paul Pogba over a new contract, the UK Sun reports.
But the French midfielder is going to test Old Trafford chiefs desire to keep him, by demanding a total wage packet of £500,000-a-week.
It is believed Pogba wants parity as the club’s highest paid player with Alexis Sanchez, as the eye-watering deal handed to Sanchez 15 months ago, is coming back to bite executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward once again.

Sanchez’s huge contract has changed the game at United, especially given the struggles suffered by the South American since joining last January.
Pogba’s demands will be strengthened by public admissions from Real Madrid boss, Zinedine Zidane, that he would like his compatriot at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Pogba has two years left on his current £300,000-a-week deal, with a further 12-month option.

EPL: Manchester United Coach Ready To Quit

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s assistant coach, Mike Phelan, is yet to commit his future to Manchester United, as he is concerned about the structure behind the scenes at the club, the Daily Mail reports.
The former United midfielder served under Sir Alex Ferguson for a decade, before the Scot’s retirement.
Solskjaer’s first call after being offered the United job, was to Phelan and the 56-year-old has proved pivotal in restoring the mindset lost at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer has already signed a three-year deal with the club to become their permanent manager and is desperate for Phelan, who has spent much of his time in Australia in the last five years, to stay.
However, it is understood that Phelan is concerned by the club’s ‘convoluted’ management structure and feels there’s a muddled approach to their recruitment system.

Phelan is happy to be back at United, but it’s been over a week since Solskjaer signed his deal and the club are still trying to persuade him to sign his own.

New FIFA ranking: Super Eagles move to third in Africa



 



The Super Eagles are now ranked third in Africa after moving up four places to 42 in the latest FIFA ranking released on Thursday. The three-time African champions earned wins against Seychelles and Egypt in the last international window, which pushed them up the ranking.
 
Senegal’s national team, the Teranga Lions, are Africa’s top team while second-place Tunisia, Morocco (fourth) and the DR Congo (fifth), complete the top five slots for Africa. Along with Ghana, they were the only African teams to make the top 50.
 
The biggest mover in March was Tanzania (131st, up 6) – coached by Nigerian Emmanuel Amuneke – having booked their place at the Africa Cup of Nations after 39 years in the doldrums.
 
With 150 games played across the globe during the international period, things remained tight at the top of the ranking, as the top three remained unchanged.
 
This sees Belgium (1st, unchanged) maintain a slender lead growing it marginally to three points over 2018 World Cup winners France (2nd, unchanged). Brazil (3rd, unchanged), however, are looking over their shoulders somewhat as England (4th, up 1) leapfrogged World Cup finalists Croatia (5th, down 1).
 
Uruguay (6th, up 1) are the only other movers within the top 10, whereas a dramatic win for Germany (13th, up 3) saw them overtake defeated opponents The Netherlands (16th, down 2), as well as Sweden (14th, unchanged) and Chile (15th, down 2).
 
Israel (84th, up 8) enjoyed the biggest jump of all, followed closely by Guatemala (143rd, up 6) and Tanzania.

 Zidane reveals 5 Real Madrid players he will sell this summer


 

                        
Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane, has identified at least five players that will be leaving the club this summer.


Gareth Bale and Marcelo have long been the butt of most of the criticism this season, but they have been joined by Toni Kroos, Isco and Casemiro on the list of players who don’t feature in Zidane’s plans.

However, Marca reports players with long contracts on big money will be difficult to push out.


Kroos, Isco and Bale all have deals that run out in 2022.

Madrid may consider trying to replicate the loan deal they set up for James Rodriguez two summers ago.

The Colombia international was sent to Bayern Munich with the German club agreeing to pay him €6.5million (£5.7m) a season and Real Madrid €6.5m a season.

They also had to pay his agent Gestifute €2m (£1.7m) and were given a buy option of €42million (£36m), which they look unlikely to exercise this summer when his loan expires.
