Cristiano Ronaldo urged his Juventus teammates to play for outgoing manager, Max Allegri, after his departure was confirmed by the club.
Allegri told the squad of his impending departure shortly before his Bianconeri bosses went public with a statement on his exit.
The 51-year-old will leave Turin this summer, after five years at the Allianz Stadium.
Ahead of this weekend’s final Serie A fixture against Atlanta, Allegri told his players: “Sunday will be [Andrea] Barzagli’s last match – and mine too.”
That news led to tears from the coach and Barzagli, leaving a number of first-team stars shocked.
However, Sport Mediaset reports applause soon broke out before Cristiano Ronaldo told teammates: “Sunday, we play for him”.
Ronaldo and Allegri have enjoyed a good relationship during their season together, following the Portuguese superstar’s mega-money move from Real Madrid.

Manchester United have submitted a bid to sign Ajax goalkeeper, Andre Onana, the Daily Record reports.
United have been in talks with David De Gea, over a new contract but nothing has been agreed yet.
De Gea has just one year remaining on his current contract and would be free to negotiate with teams in Europe from the start of January.
The Spain international is demanding a significant increase on his current deal, that would see him earn parity with Alexis Sanchez, who earns a basic salary of £400,000 a week.
But United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is not willing to match De Gea’s terms and is now actively seeking replacements.
The club has submitted a bid for Onana, but Ajax have rejected the offer.
United are also unwilling to meet Ajax’s asking price for Onana and are considering Barcelona goalkeeper, Jasper Cillessen, as an alternative signing.
Cillessen, who joined Barcelona from Ajax, is valued in excess of €25m (£22m).

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has joked that they could not afford Antoine Griezmann, ruling out a move for the France international.
Griezmann has informed Atletico Madrid that he wants to leave after five seasons, with Barcelona favourites to land the player.
City are set to bring in three or four new faces during the summer, but Guardiola ruled out a move for the 2018 World Cup winner.
“For the people of Barcelona, I say: ‘Don’t worry, guys.’ Manchester City is not going to buy Antoine Griezmann, we cannot afford him.
“For the people of Barcelona, don’t worry. We are not interested in Griezmann,” he told a news conference ahead of the FA Cup final against Watford.

Barcelona captain, Lionel Messi, has reportedly given the club’s board name of Premier League striker to sign this summer’s transfer window.
Fox Sports reports that the Argentine international has told Barcelona hierarchy to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane this summer.
The report claimed that Messi feels Kane would be a perfect replacement for 32-year-old striker, Luis Suarez who is in the later stage of his career at Nou Camp.
Kane is widely considered as one of the best strikers in the world presently.
The 25-year-old will win his first piece of silverware with Tottenham Hotspur if they beat Liverpool in the Champions League final on June 1 in Madrid.
Meanwhile, Barcelona president, Josep Maria Bartomeu a few days ago revealed that the club are already planning ahead for next season, adding that the Catalan club have already signed some new players and will make it public after their Copa del Rey final against Valencia next week.
“The planning for next season is already underway for some time. There are players that have been signed and we will talk about it after the [Copa del Rey] final,” Bartomeu told Spanish newspaper, Sport.

Juventus are lining up Chelsea manager, Maurizio Sarri and Tottenham boss, Mauricio Pochettino as possible replacement for Max Allegri, according to Daily Express.
The club has confirmed that Allegri will be departing at the end of the Serie A season.
Sarri would be open to a move back to his homeland after a difficult season at Chelsea.
Sarri remains unpopular at Stamford Bridge despite meeting expectations by delivering a third-place finish and a run to the Europa League final.
The newspaper claimed that the Bianconeri are also fans of Pochettino, who has led Tottenham to a top-four finish and the Champions League final this term.

Quote:Bayern Munich Win Their 28th Bundesliga Title
Bayern Munich have clinched their 28th Bundesliga title on Saturday with the 5-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt. Borussia Dortmund finishes in second place, 2 points behind Bayern. This was the first time since 2009 that the Meisterschale wasn’t clinched until the final matchday.
Bayern trailed Dortmund by as many as nine points this season, but after a resurgence in the spring, Bayern took the lead for good after beating Dortmund at the Allianz Arena in April.
This is Franck Ribery’s ninth Meisterschale, making him the most successful player in Bundesliga history. This puts a nice cherry on top for the Frenchman’s illustrious career at Bayern.
Virtually only needing a draw. Bayern took the lead in the fourth minute. The 1-0 lead was taken into halftime. Shortly after the break, Frankfurt equalized shortly after the break. With Dortmund leading their match, Frankfurt would only need one more goal to win it for Dortmund. However, Bayern took control and never looked back. Goals from David Alaba, Renato Sanchez, Franck Ribery, and Arjen Robben out the game out of reach for Frankfurt and the title out of reach for BVB Dortmund.

Goals from Kingsley Coman, David Alaba, Renato Sanches, Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben gave Bayern Munich their seventh successive Bundesliga titles.
However, Sebastien Haller did score for the visitors at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern won the Germany top-flight league title with two points ahead of Dortmund, who beat Borussia Monchengladbach 2-0.

Jose Mourinho to return to management in July after Manchester United sacking
Jose Mourinho has vowed to be back in management for the start of the 2019/20 season.
The Portuguese boss has not worked since being sacked by United in December for the poor run of the club.
Mourinho told French radio station RMC: 'I have a lot of qualities and one of them is to respect other clubs and their management. I have never spoken like "this club wanted me, they contacted me."
'When I left Manchester United in December, I immediately took the decision I want to work from summer. I hope to be back to work in July in a project I really like.'
When asked to comment on Manchester United following the manner of his departure, he said: 'It's difficult for me to talk about Manchester. I can't talk about them in the same joy and freedom as I talk about other clubs.'
Mourinho has most recently been linked with Juventus, after it was announced on Friday that Maximiliano Allegri will be leaving the club.

Manchester City confirm Vincent Kompany is to leave the club after 11 years and 360 games
Premier League champions, Manchester City have confirmed Vincent Kompany is leaving after 11 years of service and 360 games at the club.
The announcement comes just a day after the centre-back and captain played in City's 6-0 win against Watford in Saturday's FA Cup final.
The 33-year-old who played 360 games for the club will now move to boyhood club Anderlecht where he will become player-manager.
Kompany leaves a superb legacy and chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said: 'There have been many important contributors to Manchester City's renaissance, but arguably none are more important than Vincent Kompany.
'He defines the essence of the club. For a decade he has been the lifeblood, the soul, and beating heart of a supremely talented squad.
'A booming voice in the dressing room yet a quiet and measured ambassador off it, Vincent can be as proud of himself as we are of him.
'I am not sure he expected to lift the Premier League trophy on four occasions during his captaincy but he will be remembered and revered whenever this period of unprecedented City success is spoken about by future generations.
'His leadership, intelligence and determination have seen him adapt brilliantly to playing under four different managers and overcome some debilitating injuries. He is a special character who has answered every demand the club has made of him.
'We now look forward to celebrating his testimonial match in September so that we can properly celebrate his City contribution. He will always be part of the City family.'
The Belgian who joined City in 2008 for an undisclosed fee from Hamburg has 10 trophies: (four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and four League Cups).
Kompany wrote an open letter to City supporters explaining his decision. It read: 'Dear all,
'Community Shield Winners! Back 2 back League Cup Winners! Back 2 back Champions of England! FA Cup Winners!
'We’ve just seen the close of an incredible season. My 11th as a Blue. And I cannot believe I’m writing this but... also my last as a Blue. Countless of times have I imagined this day, after all, the end has felt nearby for so many years. It still doesn’t feel real. Man City has given me everything. I’ve tried to give back as much as I possibly could. How often does someone get the chance to end such an important chapter, representing a club with such great history and tradition, in such a great fashion?
'The time has come for me to go now.
As overwhelming as it is, I feel nothing but gratefulness. I am grateful to all those who supported me on a special journey, at a very special club. I remember the first day, as clear as I see the last. I remember the boundless kindness I received from the people of Manchester.
He went on to speak about his regret that his mother, who died of cancer 11 years ago, never saw him play for the club he loves.
'I also want to use this platform to express the love that I have for my nearest and dearest. It knows no boundaries. Carla, Sienna, Sire and Kai, the one and only quadruple that matters. My dad (Pierre), Christel and François, my true Invincibles.
'I live with only one regret. I would have loved to take my mother, Jocelyne, to the Etihad, seeing her chant the City songs sat next to my children and wife. I would have wanted her to see me happy, playing the game that I love at a club that I love. Deep down, I know she’s been with us through all this time.'

Transfer: Arsenal offer 3 players plus £40m for Crystal Palace star
Arsenal are offering up to three players as makeweights in a deal for Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha, according to The Sun, UK.
Manager Unai Emery will be hopeful of bringing in new faces at the club.
Palace’s Zaha, who this week admitted he wanted to leave Crystal Palace, is heavily linked with Arsenal.
The Ivorian is keen on joining a team playing Champions League football.
Arsenal would be in the Champions League next season should they win the Europa League final against Chelsea later this month.
Palace also want £80m for Zaha this summer.
But according to the Sun, Arsenal have launched an opening offer of £40m.
The Gunners are unlikely to be able to match Palace’s inflated estimation.
But up to three players could head south of the river as part of any deal for Zaha.
The newspaper claim that Arsenal are open to allowing Calum Chambers, Carl Jenkinson and Reiss Nelson to move as makeweights.

Juventus superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, has told the club’s board to appoint former Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, as the club’s new coach.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Ronaldo approached Juventus hierarchy and asked the bosses to offer Mourinho the Old Lady managerial job after the club announced over the weekend that manager, Massimiliano Allegri, will not coach the club next season.
The report claimed that respected Portuguese football agent, Jorge Mendes, also wants Juventus to appoint Mourinho as Allegri’s successor.
Ronaldo and Mourinho worked together for three years during their time at Real Madrid.
Mourinho was sacked by Man United in December and hasn’t managed a club since then.
The 56-year-old had reiterated his desire to return to management this summer and hinted that it would be in a league that motivates him.

Arsenal announces midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan will miss Europa League final against Chelsea over safety fears
Premiership club, Arsenal have announced Henrikh Mkhitaryan, 30, will not be involved in the Europa League final against Chelsea.
The Armenia international’s safety was a concern due to the dispute between his country and Azerbaijan, the host nation of the final tournament clash.
For this reason, the Gunners decided against him travelling to Baku for next Wednesday’s game with Chelsea.
A statement read: “We are very disappointed to announce that Henrikh Mkhitaryan will not be travelling with the squad for our Uefa Europa League final against Chelsea.
“We have thoroughly explored all the options for Micki to be part of the squad but after discussing this with Micki and his family we have collectively agreed he will not be in our travelling party.
“We have written to Uefa expressing our deep concerns about this situation. Micki has been a key player in our run to the final so this is a big loss for us from a team perspective.
“We’re also very sad that a player will miss out on a major European final in circumstances such as this, as it is something that comes along very rarely in a footballer’s career. Micki will continue to be part of our preparations until we depart for Baku at the weekend.”
The former Manchester United player also admitted he is “hurt” to miss the final. He tweeted: “Having considered all the current options, we had to take the tough decision for me not to travel with the squad to the UEL Final against Chelsea.
“It’s the kind of game that doesn’t come along very often for us players and I must admit, it hurts me a lot to miss it. I will be cheering my teammates on! Let’s bring it home Arsenal.”
UEFA said in a statement: “Working alongside Arsenal FC, UEFA sought and received assurances regarding the player’s safety in Azerbaijan from the highest authorities in the country.
“As a result of these guarantees, a comprehensive security plan was developed and given to the club. While the club acknowledges the efforts that Uefa and the Azeri government have gone to in this matter, we respect the personal decision not to travel with the player.”

Champions League: UEFA president breaks silence on potential ban of Manchester City
UEFA president, Aleksander Ceferin, has made it clear that the body will not shy away from sanctioning Manchester City amid fears of a ban from the Champions League.
City have been under investigation by a regulatory committee, over a series of leaks into their financial conduct published in German outlet Der Spiegel.
Reports last week suggested that City may face a Champions League ban if found guilty, with UEFA referring the case to Club Financial Control Body adjudicatory chamber.
Ceferin, while speaking with the New York Times, insisted that UEFA will have no qualms about coming down hard on any club.
“Sometimes we forget how dirty this industry is.
“If you do it right, you don’t sell yourself.
“If you are not involved in any strange business, if you are not corrupted, then you go straight forward and be fair to anyone,” Ceferin said.

Solskjaer 'offers Paul Pogba captaincy at Manchester United' in bid to convince him to stay and shun Real Madrid move
Manchester United coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is offering Paul Pogba the captaincy in a bid to convince the midfielder to stay at Old Trafford and shun Real Madrid move.
The French midfielder, 26, has been repeatedly linked with a move away from Man United this summer, with Real Madrid a likely destination.
United will be without a captain from the end of next month when Antonio Valencia leaves the club. His deputy, 33-year-old Ashley Young is likely to play a reduced role next term with United targeting a new right-back this summer.
According to ESPN, Solskjaer is willing to offer the 26-year-old the armband in a bid to keep him at the club ahead of a squad overhaul this summer.
