Imo: I have the strongest political structure – Okorocha to Uzodinma after arrest
on
February 22, 2021
Former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has boasted that he has the strongest structure in the state.
He accused Governor Hope Uzodinma of unleashing hundreds of thugs against him on Sunday.
Okorocha and his associates were arrested after he supervised the unsealing of Royal Spring Palm Estate, Owerri.
The property locked by the state government was linked to his wife, Nkechi.
Okorocha’s spokesman, Sam Onwuemeodo, alleged that Uzodinma’s Special Adviser on Special Duties, Chinasa Nwanari, led an assault on his boss.
His statement accused the aide of storming the estate and destroying vehicles in the former governor’s convoy.
Onwuemeodo noted that policemen and “more than 1000 armed” thugs led by Nwaneri attacked the Senator representing Imo West District.
Onwuemeodo insisted that Okorocha was with only his personal aides.
“We are still watching events as they unfold. Okorocha has the strongest political structure in the state and teaming followers. If he had expected the attack, he would not have moved with his personal aides alone.
“Okorocha has never been a violent man. This planned attack but unprovoked and unwarranted has opened a new, but ugly chapter in the politics of the State. We shall react fully to the situation,” the statement read.

The police said Governor Uzodinma directed them to arrest me, his aides were making jest of me and saying they were going to deal with me - Rochas Okorocha
Former Governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha has narrated his ordeal after being arrested by the police yesterday February 21, for reopening a property sealed by the Imo state government.
While Imo police spokesperson, Orlando Ikeokwu said they invited Okorocha for questioning following his alleged involvement and forceful entry into a property that was confiscated by the Imo state government a few days ago, Okorocha accused Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma of ordering his arrest.
In a telephone interview with Channels Television on Sunday February 21, the federal lawmaker said operatives of the Nigeria Police Force attached to the Government House watched as thugs destroyed his vehicles.
Okorocha who also alleged that many people were injured, said a top aide to Governor Uzodinma controlled the thugs and was giving them instructions on what to do. He also accused the aide of pulling out a machete to inflict a cut on him.
He said;
Quote:“I asked them, what is my offence? They said conspiracy and public disorder. So they said it was the governor that directed them, that made a report to arrest me.
“The police whisked me into the pickup and brought me to the police station, I am here now. As I am here, they have not said anything to me.
“I am still at a very deep shock and confused as to what is happening here. Particularly of note, what shocked me was the SA to the Governor pulled out his shirt, carried the machete himself and was coming to machete me while I was moved out.
“He was calling the boys ‘come, come.’ He was in charge and the police were following him. When they arrested me so to say, the SA to the Governor entered the pickup and came to the police station with their own video.
“They were making jest of me that there is only one governor in the state, there is only one immunity that they are going to deal with me. I can’t believe it.”

Stemming from the recent attack on the person of Senator Rocha's Okorocha, former governor of IMO State, there are emerging facts to what transpired at the scene of the attack.
Okorocha, who was viewed from an emerging video clip made available to the media by his P.A, was seen querying the essence of the attack on him and his aides when the visit was a normal routine check of his wife's property.

He was also in fear because the invaders were masked thugs. According to the video, an explanation from one of the security points to the fact that the invades were ordered from the government house in Owerri.
Soon after his comments, gunshots were heard from the background believed to be tear-gas fired by both the thugs and in-house security. That led to everyone scampering for safety.
Shortly after the fierce attack by the alleged thugs, some of his entourage were seen in a pool of blood from machete cuts including Okorocha's in-law alleged to have inflicted on him by the thugs.
Senator Okorocha who was whisked out of the scene by his aides for safety was short of words as to what could warrant an unprecedented attack on him as a citizen inspecting his property.
