Quote:Sunday Igboho: I Can’t Blame Fulani For Burning Down My House
Sunday Igboho has told Peoples Gazette that he was not in a hurry to blame any individual or group for the arson that razed down his property in Ibadan on Tuesday morning.
Sunday Igboho, whose real name is Sunday Adeyemo, said he would allow authorities to conduct investigation into the incident, praising God that there were no injuries or fatalities.
“I cannot blame anyone right now for the attack, not even Fulani people,” he said by telephone hours after the attack. “We have to thank God that nobody was killed, it is more important.”
A property owned by Sunday Igboho was set ablaze on Tuesday morning in Soka neighbourhood of Ibadan.
He told the Gazette he moved out of the property about a year ago to a new property also in Soka.
He has been at the centre of a controversial directive for Fulani herdsmen to vacate vast lands in Oyo State. His action was condemned by President Muhammadu Buhari, who ordered police to use lethal force against him and his followers if necessary.
It was not immediately clear those responsible for the attack, which could potentially escalate ongoing tension around Fulani herders in southern Nigeria.
A police spokesman in Oyo said he was not aware of the fire.

The worth of what was destroyed at my house cannot be less than N50 million" - Sunday Igboho speaks on his razed house
Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho has put the value of items he lost after his house was burnt by suspected arsonists at N50 million.
The Ibadan home of the activist was razed by unknown persons at about 3am today.
Speaking to newsmen, Igboho said
Quote:'' “The worth of what was destroyed at my house cannot be less than N50 million.”
Recounting how he learnt about the attack on his property, Igboho said
Quote:“Around 3.30am today, my younger ones residing at my old house rushed to my gate to wake me up, saying some bandits came to the house, fired gunshots, broke the gate, and set the house ablaze. The two people at the house managed to escape. By the time I got there, the bandits had escaped. So, we called firefighters to help us put out the fire.”
He state that some Yorubas are in support of the Fulanis who he is fighting on their behalf.
Quote:“What I find surprising is that some Yorubas are in support of the herdsmen to set my house on fire. I’m saddened by it,” he said.
When asked whom he suspected to be behind the attack, he said
Quote:“For now, I do not suspect anyone. When they knew they could fight, fire gunshots, and set a house ablaze, isn’t it where I stay that they are supposed to come?
If they had come to the house where I stay, I would have had evidence for you people (journalists) because they won’t all escape. It’s either you meet their dead bodies or meet them with broken legs.
I thank God that they applied wisdom by going to a house where they know that I don’t live and destroyed my properties and burnt it down.”
