Libyan coach apologises after saying Nigeria Super Eagles believe in juju too much - Gimbiya - 09-10-2018

Libya coach, Adel Amrouche has apologised to Nigeria and Nigerians after saying Nigeria’s Super Eagles rely on “Juju” to win their games.

Amrouche made this statement after the game between Libya and South Africa in Durban which ended in a scoreless draw, ahead of the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Speaking after the game against South, Amrouche said his team, who are one point ahead of Nigeria, are not scared of facing the Super Eagles and wouldn’t mind playing both games in Nigeria.

Believe me, i prefer play Nigeria than Bafana Bafana because i have this experience to play against Nigeria.
For me, Bafana they have fantastic players and its not easy to play Bafana Bafana,”

After the game at the Moses Mahbida Stadium Adel said;
“I am ready for Nigeria, if they want to play two times in Nigeria, we play two times in Nigeria.
“They believe on juju too much, and we believe on God. It’s not easy to play in South Africa.”

Tweeting an apology hours after his statement went viral and sparked outrage, Adel Amrouche said:
I apologise to the Nigeria football community for using the words JUJU in the press conference in SA.
I used the word in jest. I respect Nigerians and their RICH football tradition. I’m a man who likes joking, but I realise I used the word out of context.
Please accept my apologies.
