However, the National Assembly could not be reconvened because no “firm” decision was taken by members of the Assembly on before the Deputy Speaker’s announcement. Reacting in a statement by its Acting National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena, the APC accused Saraki of pursuing his selfish interest above national interest. The statement reads in part: “As Chairman of the 8th National Assembly, Saraki’s decision not to reconvene the National Assembly done with the support of the Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon.
